Installed heat pump incorrectly. It leaks slowly all year. They charge you to come fix the problem they created but never actually fix. Now they won't even come to fix it. Basically thieves. Would not recommend anyone use their service. read more

Cheapest isn't always the best. Their pricing is very competitive but they're guys are a bunch of screw ups. I've had two installations done by then. Both resulted in repeat return visits because their guys did an incomplete job. read more

We have used Speer for several years to maintain our heating and air conditioning units and have always been pleased with their professionalism and timeliness. They just installed my gas range and had to do some work to get the old gas line set up. This required a little demolition of my basement ceiling. I thought I would walk downstairs to dust everywhere but there was none. It was because from the moment they walked in they had drop cloths everywhere to contain debris and wet boots. There should a ZERO STAR option. They could care less about you once they have your money. It wasn't always like this. I used to get prompt friendly service. They get you to buy the service contract that's supposed to get you "Preferred" appoints and service. It doesn't. They're always late. They don't call when they're going to be late either. When you call them, they're all apologizes and I'll talk to the manager. It does not good. They're slow to act unless it's too shut the phones off at 4:59 pm so all the calls go to the answering service. I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY SERVICE CONTRACT WITH A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS. Avoid this company!!! read more

This company did a pre-closing inspection of a home that I was buying and reported that the system was okay. Several months later when the temperature dropped, the furnace failed due to multiple problems that indicated poor service or lack of service. When I called Speer to discuss, the service manager (Billy) became argumentative and defensive. I called a different company and the repairs cost me $600+. I've been patiently waiting for the proper social media review platform to post my 10 year review of Speer Air's HVAC system which they installed in my new construction home about 10 years ago. The house was purchased as a new home from some builder, and I was a first time home buyer at the time. Summary: STEER CLEAR OF SPEER!! DO NOT USE SPEER AIR SERVICES FOR ANYTHING HVAC RELATED. They do not know how to design an efficient duct system, even in a brand new house, and they have some of the most laziest and awful installation workmanship I've ever witnessed. What they are experts at is cutting corners and installing a very very leaky duct system with lots of hidden leaks that normal, non-technical homeowners are never going to find. Look elsewhere. Issue 1: Speer forgot to install the 240 V line to the out door AC condenser. This means the AC system was never tested or verified by the installer. The builder and Speer did coordinate an electrician to install the power line, but this should have never happened. The AC thankfully worked fine once this was fixed. Issue 2: The Carrier system Speer installed, somehow was able to start and run consistently for Speer and for the builder, and for my home inspector. When I took over the house, and it was time for heating season (maybe 6 months later), the Carrier had issues starting up for heating. I inspected the still brand new unit and found the igniter wires were lazily (or intentionally) routed between the fuel combustion box and it's cover, causing a wire pinch and an immediate short-to-ground. Someone was in the combustion box to change the orfices over to LP. I fixed this igniter issue myself in 10 minutes rather than dealing with an emergency warranty service call into Speer...no issues for 10 years+. Issue 3: Speer has exceptionally poor design, routing and duct assembly worksmanship. I didn't start inspecting the duct work until maybe 2011 (after having dealt with a couple expensive winters which were about $3000 each). The system and main ducts and trunks located in an unconditioned basement. All visible connections on ONLY the sides and bottom main duct had the red marked UL foil duct tape....the top did not have any tape or sealing at the connection points. So I had to fix that with the proper tape and mastic sealants. At all the trunk connections, there was no tape/seal, but lots of various holes/gaps (some as big as 1/2" x 1", and hidden atop the main duct) throughout the run where the trunks come off the main supply duct..just leaking expensive conditioned air into the basement. Most of the 2nd story vertical duct runs are run through exterior walls (which are cold in winter), when there were plenty of interior walls to use. And the return (which is just a central point return which requires all the doors to be open) has a partial routing into the garage then back into the basement. The return duct has very similar issues. Lots of unused screw hole penetrations all throughout the run as well. I'll eventually seal the rest of Speer's duct leaks in the walls with an Aeroseal service. This duct was so bad that the basement used to kick up a dust cloud in the basement when the system would operate. I've fixed 80% of Speer's holes, so no more dust clouds. Issue 4: Condensate pump - the final part of the job, Speer didn't bother mounting it to the furnace. They just laid it loosely on the ground, unmounted, so that it would be susceptible to kicks, bumps from sweeping, and dirt/dust. I recently discovered (in 2019) my pump actually has the 24V safety switch feature..with its simply tucked away, unused, with the wire leads exposed. So if this pump were to fail (they are cheap and will fail after 10-15 years), it would make a very big mess in the basement if the furnace were allowed to continue running and producing condensate. No issues with the pump yet, but I'm going to replace and mount one the right way very soon. Their waste-tube routing was an afterthought, I might redo that as well. Conclusion: I have no reason to make any of this up (how would someone know how to make up detailed HVAC issues anyway??). There are better, more honest, respectable HVAC service providers in the Sussex and Morris County area. Stay away from Speer if you want a quality installation which operates efficiently. If you are a bargain basement builder looking to rip people off without them knowing, Speer is your contractor! I always make sure to tell everyone to steer clear of Speer. read more

Speer Air recently installed a replacement 4 ton AC Central Air System. Very happy with AC. They even recommended a different placement in the attic for the air handler and it is much cooler throughout the whole two story home. The installers were very pleasant and courteous and the office staff were also very friendly and efficient. This is our second Central AC with Speer, our other one was installed in 2001. The Best! my family has used speer air for over 40 years, however i had not personally had a need for the services they provide since about 2001 when they installed my central air. recently i purchased another home and called speer for an estimate on installing a whole-house generator. to my surprise their salesman, kevin, offered me a generous discount based on the long history my family had with speer even though i had not personally used them in many years. my own energy provider (oil and propane) did not offer a single dime as a discount...so i was already pleased. kevin returned to my home several times prior to installation to address all of my concerns. he was always readily available and a pure pleasure to work with. the installation went smoothly, on schedule and every tech they sent to my home was a real pro, and could not have been nicer. when the install was done and the town completed the final inspection the inspector asked me afterwards who did the install...when i said "speer" his immediate response was " then you have nothing to worry about" and i don't. read more

Had central air installed in my home four years ago and was impressed with the sales process (Kevin explained everything very clearly, great price, excellent warranty and a discount because I was installing offseason), installation was smooth (polite, courteous, not a spec of debris or dust anywhere). Called a bit late this spring to arrange for my annual maintenance and they were very busy, scheduled my appointment and the technician (Rich) came today. When he arrived I told him I turned the a/c on much later this year due to our unusual weather and discovered it didn't work at all. Explained that due to health issues the humidity today is causing a problem for me. I didn't have to ask twice! He checked the system and identified the problem, told me he had another appointment this afternoon, but had called the office and arranged for the parts, would pick them up after the other appointment and come back today to make sure its working by tonight. Just left. Fixed the problem, did the annual maintenance and my wonderful air conditioning is back. Great company to work with. read more
