Absolutely amazing, Called them for a non emergency replacement of a Honeywell zone relay on a gas furnace. No major work, no cutting or soldering, just unplugging the bad relay and plugging in the new relay and rewiring, less than 2 hours of labor and the unit. When I asked for an itemized the bill, they said I got a price break as they didn't charge me labor and that was just the cost of the relay. Stay away unless you want to pay, pay, pay! My four year old AC condensing unit that Air 1 installed died. The unit had a ten year warranty. The breakdown had nothing to do with them but their lack of customer service for an existing customer was appalling. The company was not at all interested in working with the manufacturer to resolve the issue under the warranty. Instead, they pushed for me to buy a new unit at a "good price". When I told them that I thought paying almost $7000 for two AC units in four years was outrageous when the unit was under warranty someone on the office staff actually said "at least you got four years out of it". Seriously? I paid $250 for a diagnostic fee and they wanted another $250 for shipping before they would place an order for the backordered part. The owner is also non responsive. I made several requests to speak to him but never got a call back. There are too many good HVAC companies out there to waste your time with Air 1. read more

Needing the duct work in my house replaced, I did all the research and got multiple estimates. I selected Air 1 and am so happy that I did. They were extremely professional, on time and the entire experience was top quality service. They did all the work in 2 days and were very careful with cleanup. They were all about service, making sure I was happy with the work through every step. Raul was extremely knowledgeable and spent time with me when the job was completed to go over every inch of work they did. I would not hesitate to use them again should I need anything HVAC. Please, consumer beware. Last year, this small business was so disingenuous and offered consumers a $50 discount on a preventative maintenance contract if they purchased within a certain timeframe. What the consumer did not know is that they were being charged that $50 on the back end! If your heating or cooling system needed a filter, the consumer was being charged back that same amount of money by making them pay for filters that were normally part of the maintenance contract. If that didn't cover the $50, the owner of the company instructed employees to find a way to make up that $50. Their intent was to defraud the consumer for their personal gain. This during Covid when small business owners were getting help on a state and federal level to meet their financial obligations. Be careful of unscrupulous, greedy small businesses that take advantage of consumers by price gauging for their own greedy personal gain. Please be careful, they seem like lovely people and can bump elbows and give a great first impression for sure, but it is a front to get your money! read more

I interviewed 5 contractors back then and chose Air 1 because they were professional, honest, straight forward, and praised by other contractors. Recently, July 2020 my daughter moved to New Jersey because of Covid. She needed a new air conditioning unit. Will, the owner, stepped up and got her system done quickly and at a fair price. Air 1 is the real deal. They have experienced technicians, many have been with them for years. In addition the office staff is friendly and easy to deal with. I would not use them again. I called Air 1 for a problem with my air-conditioning. They came recommended by a neighbor. The technician changed a thermostat, which costs approximately $50, and charged me $286 plus the service call of $125. He examined my 15 year old HVAC unit and told me it had to be totally replaced, for their special discount price of about $12,000. I paid him with a credit card the amount of the service call and thermostat, and avoided the high pressure sales pitch. One month later I got a "Payment is overdue" notice that I owed 33 cents. The stamp cost more. Meanwhile, my unit which is continuing to work perfectly. read more

I called this company because I needed a thermostat replaced which I advised them on the phone. They came the next day, The technician got on the phone to get instructions on how to check this, he must be a trainee. He came 20 minutes late and he was here for an hour and a half to let me know I was right. He would have to order a thermostat. They don't carry anything in their truck. I wanted something basic, no timers, etc. After convincing them to come back the next day, a new tech came. It took him a half hour to install a basic thermostat. Final price $554.00. Unless you want to waste hard earned money, do not call this company. It's insulting, but what do you do when there is no heat. I hate to imagine what it would cost me if there was a more complicated issue. On the up side, the technicians are very polite. Yelp has me listed in San Francisco, Calif. I am in Northern New Jersey, not far from where they are located. read more

All about the money the tech fixed the thermocouple and told me that it was mandatory that I also get another part that was 350 but when he went to his truck and did not have the part, I suddenly would be ok without it. My system also needed to be bled and he was only interested in selling me big ticket item then bleeding. And turn out the tech fixed my problem incorrectly which created more issues and I had to get thermocouple and everything re done 6 weeks later. Of course they claimed it was not their fault but I had two certified have tech tell me whomever put the thermalco did it wrong and did some damage. Not happy read more

AC unit replacement was performed in June 2012. In short... 1. They did not perform a sufficient initial evaluation before recommending my AC unit be replaced (Took advantage of it being 90 degrees in June so I just agreed to whatever they said). 2. Started a fire in my condo (did not even offer to have the place cleaned or even replace the fire extinguisher they used) 3. Did not report the fire to the owner 4. Did not properly wire the new unit inside to the thermostat. I had to fix it later since the guy couldn't figure it out. 5. New AC unit was not cooling properly at which point the owner recommended I spend more money to replace all my attic ductwork (should have been identified up front) 6. I submitted an informational complaint to BBB about them at which point the owner retaliated against me by not filling out energy credit paperwork which I qualified for. 7. When confronted, the owner became annoyed and unprofessional even hanging up the phone on me and then his receptionist refused to put him back on the phone. 8. I later discovered they didn't fill the AC unit properly and I had to pay another company for refrigerant to be added (1/3 of the total capacity without a leak). Levels have remained correct since the extra was added 3 years ago. 9. Claimed they use Trane but I later discovered only the outdoor unit is Trane, they did not use matched coils for indoor. Overall, find a better company if you need HVAC work done. read more

Bought a new house with my wife and we got stuck with a Stone Age central air system (virtually useless condenser, old type of refrigerant, embarrassing thermostat... the works). We knew this would happen because of the home inspection, so we chose a sizable closing credit instead of asking the sellers to jury-rig the old system. Then, after move-in, we chose Air1 only because they could come over the next day--the other companies we called had longer waits--and the nicest guy arrived (Greg). Very personable. He answered all my questions clearly, outlined our three options clearly, and didn't necessarily try to push the most expensive option. We evaluated the choices and decided to take the most expensive option anyway to save more money in the long-run. The Air1 guys came a few days later, removed all the old crap, were very efficient with installing the new stuff which included a nice new condenser pad and little rocks... and we've been living in affordable, cool, comfort ever since. I'm not sure if they are priced competitively (maybe they are?) but I don't care. Even if they were a bit more expensive than another competitor, they provided a very fast and very stress-free experience which would be worth the extra buck. read more

I would not recommend this company. Placed a service call to Air 1 LLC on 5/18/18, as AC in the bedroom floor was not blowing cold air. When the technician arrived I immediately told him I had replaced the thermostat a couple days ago and was hoping I had done it right. The technician spends about 1.5 hours essentially mis-diagnosing the issue. Eventually he noted that he would have to rewire the AC system from the outside unit to the artic unit. That did not make sense as I explained that we have not had an issue with the AC over the past 10 years. I asked him to point out the old wires which was no longer functional for which a re-wiring was required. He noted that the old wires had "disappeared"! After 1.5 hours he then decided to speak to his boss in the office who immediately told him to check the wiring in the new thermostat that I (homeowner) has replaced a couple of days ago. The technician then checked the wiring in the thermostat and fixed the issue - in less than 3 minutes. In addition to the service charge of $140.00 (which I agree to), Air 1 LLC charged for 2 hours of labor of $259.00! (they rounded up the 1.5 hours to 2 hours). Total bill came to $399.00. ISSUE: Air 1 dispatched an inexperienced technician who spent 1.5 hours mis-diagnosing an issue that should typically have taken 2 minutes to fix. I spoke to the Office Manager who insisted I had to pay 2 hours of labor, in addition to the fixed service charge. She promised to discuss with the owner and get back to me, but no communication since then. The fair and equitable charge should have been Service Charge ONLY. But, I was compelled to pay for technician's inefficiency and lack of training. In summary, I do NOT recommend Air to anyone. As the saying goes...."A word to the wise...." read more
