My husband called me and told me he'd be home earlier than usual so I took a gamble and called refinery to see if anyone could get me in. I'm rather new to the area so I didn't know where to go or really if I'd be able to get in at such last minute. I was thrilled to be able to make an appointment and I was paired with Tyler. I was greeted upon arrival and was given a tour and was told what type of services are offered in a very informal, non-threatening way. I enjoyed looking around at the accessories while I waited. They were also taking all sorts of precautions. There was a form, a temperature check, hand washing, and the stylists were sanitizing the chairs constantly. Tyler started right on time and was really easy to talk to. I explained I had finished chemo a year ago and didn't get any looks of pity, he just took that info and went on which I greatly appreciated. Tyler did a great job with my odd hair situation and also waxed my eyebrows nicely. I was also thankful that he advised me on some products that would help me without overselling me or being forceful. I am from out of town, and I needed a haircut and style the day of my brother's wedding. When I called to book an appointment, I spoke with Sara, who was very helpful and understanding of what I needed. She answered all of my questions, making me feel comfortable booking an appointment at a new salon. When I arrived, a was warmly greeted at the front desk and offered a refreshment. The staff was so friendly and wonderful! They even took my coat and hung it up behind their desk! My appointment was with Jaclyn. She did a wonderful job of understanding what I wanted done with my hair, and also gave an amazing shampoo and scalp massage. She was thorough and efficient throughout the whole process: shampoo, trim, blow dry, and style. She was a little quiet, but would pleasantly respond with a thorough answer any time I asked a question. It also helped me to relax and enjoy the experience! I received many compliments that evening on how my hair looked, all thanks to Jaclyn! Normally, I am nervous to go to a new salon, but I am glad I took the chance with Refinery. This place is fantastic! I had a hair emergency--got my hair colored & it turned out GRAY, tried to correct it at home & turned it bright yellow, did not want to go back to previous stylist. Looked on yelp and saw great reviews for this place, so called them in tears & begged for help. They got me in that afternoon, kind, caring staff made me feel welcome from the first person I met. ( Did not ask, "What were you THINKING?") Jaclyn worked on me for 2 hours until I was happy with my color again (I think she might have come in early to get me in). My hair is difficult to color-I was impressed by the fact that she was willing to take how ever long it took to make sure I was satisfied, and also that other stylists were always ready with help & advice when asked-Rae in particular. This is HANDS DOWN the BEST salon in the STL Metropolitan area. I first went there for corrective color. Instead of screaming when they saw purple streaks in my hair, they told me exactly what they needed to do and did just that. It was a miracle they could fix the jacked up mess I walked in with! Now I am a regular customer. My color, by Whitney, the owner, is the best I have ever had.. I have colored my hair for the past 28 years...and now I am FINALLY happy! I have sent others there and they LOVE it as well. I have a friends that go to Rae and to Taylor too! All their services have been FANTASTIC! I was referred to Whitney by a friend, and I was not disappointed! Whitney is the best stylist I've ever been to in the metro east. The salon has a trendy, classy, relaxing vibe that I look for while being pampered. Not only am I thrilled with the styling and color (highlights and low lights), I have also had pedicures by Whitney and others that were wonderful. The pedicure environment is extremely relaxing and I love that the products are all natural. I honestly can't say enough about the level of expertise as well as the beautiful environment of this salon. This review is a year overdue...about the time I have been see Jaclyn at the Refinery. I am a 60 year old who is still working and needs to have a young/but appropriate look for my job. The color...oh my...everyone at my office immediately saw the difference and complimented me. She is an artist covering my grey and giving my hair the most beautiful blended multi-tones. My cut is always spot on and grow out beautifully. When it is easy to fix in the morning, you know it is a great cut. Finally, she waxes my eyebrows and doesn't take too much off. Maxine is amazing! She listened to what I wanted, looked at pictures, and she told me what would work and what would not. They showed me how to style it and I love it! It is cut so well, some days I do not have to do anything with it! Not only did the color look AMAZING (it was EXACTLY what I wanted), but she was SUPER careful not to get any on my face where it might get a reaction - first stylist ever to be that careful. Walked out feeling like a million bucks! Everyone there is so nice and fun and knows what they are doing. I have lived in the area for a few years and struggled to find a salon that I really trusted. Previous salon experiences felt rushed and never did I walk out feeling like I got what I was anticipating for. Maxine Jose is phenomenal! She truly listened to what I wanted and kept me informed every step of the way. My hair was a grown out ombré and I was looking to go to an ash blond and she was able to exceed my expectations! This is very clean and wonderfully furnished salon. I just moved to the area and needed a cut and partial foil on my blonde highlights. Decided to book an appointment (with a very easy online system, BTW) based on the reviews I found here on Yelp and on the salon's website. I went with stylist, Rae. She was wonderful!!! She listened to what I wanted (really just a natural blond and easy to care for cut) for my shoulder length hair. Honestly, my hair has never looked better and the color is very natural with a low maintenance cut!! I will definitely be going back!!! read more

I am so happy I found this salon. From the first visit, I was impressed. Alex does an amazing job on my hair. She's a perfectionist who is not afraid to ask her fellow stylists their opinions if she needs to. Everyone seems to help everyone out and there is a no tipping policy. In addition to being a full service salon they have a boutique full of original gift ideas, clothing, jewelery, etc.. What an amazing salon... the people were so nice and I was able to do a walk in on a Saturday and they treated me like a queen. Emily Jones was so sweet and she did a great job. I felt like I was in heaven when I had my hair washed because I received a nice head massage and then cut , blowout, and style. What a nice salon! I took my 5yo twins and Courtney and Jaclyn cut their hair. We arrived a few minutes early, but they were ready for us and took us straight back.
