They try to hold you hostage and force you buy glasses and contacts from there by holding your prescription. I called to simply request that my contact prescription be emailed to me because they did not offer it when I left. Over an hour later, I've received nothing. Then I call to say I hadn't received it, and I was waiting due to being at an eyewear establishment, and I was rudely told that I need to wait because they have customers. The staff is ridiculous as they cannot properly multi task and complete more than one task in a matter of an hour. They always seem frazzled. I will absolutely never return, and I definitely will not be purchasing any of their excessively priced eyewear!

I also understand that it's a mechanism eye doctors use to protect themselves from lawsuits. I come from a line of surgeons, and they find methods to curb malpractice lawsuits everyday. The staff could benefit with more training, be that service or technicals. Things are going to get worst for Texas businesses in general when transplants begin to saturate the the local market with skilled professionals, which has already begun. Very quickly, you can toss a penny and hit eye doctors with your eyes closed, no pun intended. More choices are always better.

My husband and I visited the Sugar Land location of Evolutionary Eye Care for his annual eye exam…read morebecause we were quoted a lower price over the phone for an annual supply of contact lenses than our previous optical provider. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. After checking in, we paid his copay and requested an itemized receipt before he was seen. That's when we noticed an additional charge for an optional retinal scan, even though no one had asked my husband if he wanted it. We immediately brought it to the receptionist's attention. She apologized and explained that she would have to wait 24 hours before she could process the refund since the payment had already gone through. While I appreciate that they agreed to refund the charge, it should never have been added to the bill without first asking for our consent. Throughout the visit, the receptionist appeared to be new and seemed unsure of many of the processes, which made the experience feel disorganized. After the exam, my husband was given a glasses prescription, even though we had come in for a contact lens exam and never requested a glasses prescription. He was not provided with a contact lens prescription. We were then quoted nearly double the price for an annual supply of contact lenses compared to what we had been told over the phone. When we questioned the difference, we were told that the original quote came from an offshore call center and was incorrect, and that the higher price was actually the correct one. Overall, we left feeling misled. We chose this office specifically because of the pricing we were quoted over the phone, only to find out it wasn't accurate. Between the unauthorized retinal scan charge, not receiving the contact lens prescription we came for, and the significant difference in the quoted contact lens price, our experience at the Sugar Land location did not meet our expectations, and unfortunately we won't be returning.

You can call the office to make appointment of course or you can schedule via their online appointment scheduler. The staff is very friendly. In fact I was running late (so unlike me!) & I called to inquire if I could still come or if I needed to reschedule. They told me if I could get there in 10 minutes they would still take me. That was enough time for me & they were still very pleasant & did not make me feel rushed upon arrival. I love that they have the technology to give you a choice to have your eyes dilated (old school, traditional way, included with exam) or instead have a picture of your eye taken for an extra $40 (cant recall actual cost but it was somewhere between $30-$45). A routine eye exam with no insurance is $85. Dr. Mina Hoang is very polite, professional & personable. When she conducts your eye exam & asks that question "which view is better number 1 or number 2", it makes me chuckle how she enunciates the question very slowly to give your brain time to process the question & answer. She also explains what she is doing & always asks if you have any questions. I didn't purchase any new glasses so I can't speak to the frame selection. However, with so many choices for eyecare in the area, I do recommend this office & doctor for your routine eyecare needs.
