($325 for the pair my daughter needed) so I looked online to potentially order her a pair from a website for a cheaper price- the website needed her pupillary distance but the office wanted to charge $25 to give it to me (not listed on her prescription) I was also told it "generally isn't given out to pediatric patients and would have to ask Dr. Bulan if it were ok" do they do this purposely so you have to buy glasses from them? I was asking simple questions about how much a service would cost me. Part of her role is to answer customer questions and remedy concerns. I was trying to ascertain how they got the figures. I was met with unwarranted eye rolling and snide remarks under her breath. Her behavior was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I should have cancelled my appointment when I kept receiving calls and the receptionist stated " do you still want this appointment because there is a waiting list for this time" after I already confirmed twice. We get to the appointment and immediately are up charged for services (extra $39) that have always been covered under my insurance. The receptionist was telling me that I was being up charged for not wanting my eyes dilated and the photos of my eyes are not covered. I immediately refused the charges and was told to sign a waiver. Keep in mind, this the exact same coverage that I have always had, nothing has changed and I just previously had the exact same annual exams 100% covered. I witnessed the same receptionist display the same dismissive, rude behavior to the customer after me for the exact same upcharge concern. When the customer expressed her concern about the charges, the receptionist told her, "We can just cancel this appointment". Once the lady left, she continued to belittle the customer while there was a lobby full of people saying the lady "was trying to scam" and "she is not stupid" and "good she can go". I was appalled by this behavior. She also told this same thing ($39 to not getting dilated) to another customer that was there with her daughters as well. I find it hard to believe that 3 different people are all told the exact same thing for something that is typically covered under your annua eye exam. Fast forward, once we were taken to the back to get our measurements (after dodging one of the employees' children was racing up and down the hallway on a stool), the machine was dirty and had hair from other patients. Once it was bought to the technicians' attention, they kept saying it was clean. She took an alcohol wipe and 1/2 wiped it down in front of me. I had to physically show them the hairs and clean it myself only to be told "the guy before you must have had a fresh haircut". I couldn't wait to end this appointment and really wish I hadn't used my benefits there. I will most definitely be calling my insurance company to let them know that a complete eye exam WAS not done in the event that they try to bill for a complete eye exam for services not rendered.
