Out of all the businesses I have ever been to, Dr Joseph and his staff provide the single best customer service experience i have ever had. I am not comparing him to another optometrist, I truly mean any business. Dr Joseph is incredibly kind and helpful. While performing my eye exam, every question/concern I had (which was several) was happily answered and explained in a way that I could easily understand. I never felt like he was rushing to end my appointment. He kept making adjustments until i had the best possible outcome. When he was looking at the photo of my eye, I asked if he could explain what he was looking at. He gladly described to me everything that he was looking at, and what exactly that means for my vision. When it was time to pick out my frames, I was the most indecisive I have ever been in my life. The kind woman at the front desk came over to see if I needed any help, and I asked if he she would give her opinion on some of the frames I was thinking about. She gave some great advice and helped me narrow down my choices. I was still a bit unsure, so I asked Dr Joseph if he would share his opinions on the few that i had. He sat down with me and shared, in his opinion, the pro's and con's of each pair. He did not try to up-sale me on an expensive pair. He truly wanted me to choose the pair that I felt was best for me. If you are like me, and are looking at every optometrist within 50 miles for the perfect choice, stop now and go see Dr Joseph. You will not receive a better eye exam or customer service experience anywhere.

During our visit, I was told she could not be seen because of this. When I asked for clarification, I was told there are "places for those people." That response was both unprofessional and disheartening. I understand that not every office has the same level of training or experience, but there is a clear difference between appropriately referring a patient and how that message is communicated. No attempt was made to explore alternative testing methods or accommodations. After sharing my experience publicly, the office responded stating they did not have the training to examine my daughter and chose not to proceed because they would not "do a good job." Families deserve to be treated with respect, even when a provider may not be the right fit. I hope this feedback encourages more awareness and better communication in the future.

CustomEyes Pearland was highly rated so I decided to give them a try. Scheduling was pretty easy. I went online and requested an appointment and was called back in a fair amount of time to finish. Their office is located right off 288 and Broadway, easy to get to and has plenty of parking. I arrived early as requested and there was still a bit of a wait even after my appointment. We started off with all the usual tests prior to seeing the doctor. Times have changed when it comes to yearly exams. There is alot of new tests they recommend which also comes with more out of pocket expenses. I found the front desk and others to be straight business without the service with a smile. It's not a must, but it does make you feel a little more welcome. I saw Dr. May on my visit and she was a pleasure to see. Super friendly and very knowledgeable. She ordered a few trials for my contacts and sent my on my way. After that is where I felt service went downhill. I have high astigmatism and I knew there would be a wait, but it was almost 3 weeks without a call from the office. I called once and they said they would get back to me and they didn't. The next time I called about a week later, they said one of the two trials were there and waiting to be picked up. How was I supposed to know that without a call. The same thing happened with my second trial. I just found it odd that I had to reach out every time. Needless to say, though I liked the doctor I saw, the overall customer service left alot to be desired. I didn't even end up using my yearly benefits here. I'm glad many people have liked the service here, but I will keep searching.

However, I went back a few days ago since my vision did not seem quite right with my new progressive glasses, my very first pair of glasses ever. After explaining several times that something wasn't right, I kept getting push back and was told that I simply need to get used to wearing my glasses. Finally, they told me I could take new measurements, after going back and forth. We took the new measurements and it turns out, adjustments to the measurements and the prescription needed to be made. I should not have had to press the staff like that to make sure my measurements and prescriptions were correct.

I scheduled an…read moreappointment for my son on 05/26/2026 using the scheduling system directly on Memorial Eye Center's website. Unfortunately, after arriving about 10 minutes late, the staff spent another 15 minutes trying to locate the appointment because it had apparently been entered under my name instead of my son's. Regardless, the appointment was still made through their own system. After finally finding it, I was told they were "fully booked" and could not see my son. I specifically took my son out of school for this appointment, and the situation could have been handled much more professionally and respectfully. Instead, the staff came across as rude, dismissive, and inconsiderate of our time and effort. Customer service seems to be lacking more and more these days. Mistakes happen, but how staff treat people matters. A little understanding, communication, and willingness to help would have gone a long way. Very frustrating experience overall.
