Updating my experience. A few weeks ago, I had an appointment for an eye exam which went very well. The front staff took time to walk me through the entire process and helped me pick out my glasses. However, I went back a few days ago since my vision did not seem quite right with my new progressive glasses, my very first pair of glasses ever. After explaining several times that something wasn't right, I kept getting push back and was told that I simply need to get used to wearing my glasses. Finally, they told me I could take new measurements, after going back and forth. We took the new measurements and it turns out, adjustments to the measurements and the prescription needed to be made. I should not have had to press the staff like that to make sure my measurements and prescriptions were correct. read more

Ever since my go to eye doctor moved out of Pearland, I've been on a search for a new optometrist. My search has been going on for years. CustomEyes Pearland was highly rated so I decided to give them a try. Scheduling was pretty easy. I went online and requested an appointment and was called back in a fair amount of time to finish. Their office is located right off 288 and Broadway, easy to get to and has plenty of parking. I arrived early as requested and there was still a bit of a wait even after my appointment. We started off with all the usual tests prior to seeing the doctor. Times have changed when it comes to yearly exams. There is alot of new tests they recommend which also comes with more out of pocket expenses. I found the front desk and others to be straight business without the service with a smile. It's not a must, but it does make you feel a little more welcome. I saw Dr. May on my visit and she was a pleasure to see. Super friendly and very knowledgeable. She ordered a few trials for my contacts and sent my on my way. After that is where I felt service went downhill. I have high astigmatism and I knew there would be a wait, but it was almost 3 weeks without a call from the office. I called once and they said they would get back to me and they didn't. The next time I called about a week later, they said one of the two trials were there and waiting to be picked up. How was I supposed to know that without a call. The same thing happened with my second trial. I just found it odd that I had to reach out every time. Needless to say, though I liked the doctor I saw, the overall customer service left alot to be desired. I didn't even end up using my yearly benefits here. I'm glad many people have liked the service here, but I will keep searching. read more

My husband and I have come to CustomEyes 2x now and we LOVED our experiences so far! We are ashamed to say we can't remember the doctor's name who we saw TWICE. She is an older German woman, very awesome dry sense of humor, answers all our questions, super brilliant. The girls out front are equally as great. I must have asked one girl a billion questions and she answered all my inquiries (and never showed any annoyance.) We've never had a wait when we come. Appointment times have been spot on for us! Everyone here is so nice and gives rationale for each section of the eye exam. Dr. May's assessed/examined my eyes. I had some questions about the imaging and explained the structures of the eye and their role at a level that I could understand. I find this organ somewhat confusing. She even checked my old glasses prescription and compared it to my new one, which I really appreciated. As a team, they went exceeded my expectations. I didn't even mention how spa like and calm it felt. It is beautifully decorated; chandeliers, shades of blue- I felt like I was going to get a facial. I also noticed some toys for pediatric/kids to play with while they wait. The wait was not long, by the way. I initially came because my drivers license is expiring and I wanted to see if I would pass the eye exam at the DMV. I stare at screens all day long. There's the computer screen at work, TV, iPad, phone, laptop, it's endless. So I just wanted to be sure. I love that it is within the community and I don't have to go in the loop to get high quality care. I will continue to come back here and suggest this for eye care. Your eyes can help identify health issues that may arise. So it's important to get your eyes checked especially if you have diabetes or a cardiovascular history. 10/10 read more

My favorite optometry office in Houston! I started coming here about three years ago, and I have never looked back. The optometrists and staff provide fantastic customer service and great communication. I came today for my annual eye exam, and Dr. Nguyen did a wonderful job with answering all my questions and concerns. She was very knowledgeable compared to other optometrists I had in the past. You can see that she really cares about her patients and their well being. She takes her time, and she is very attentive! Overall, I always have a great experience at Custom Eyes! I'd recently been looking for a new optometrist & stumbled upon CustomEyes Pearland online. Surprisingly, I was able to get a same day appointment. The office is in Pearland Town Center. It's a very modern and chic office with a wide array of glasses to choose from. From the moment I got there, until the moment I left, the staff was very kind. I didn't have to wait long to be seen. Dr.May was so pleasant. She thoroughly checked my eyes, explained everything to me & addressed any concerns I had. The checkout process was a breeze. I wasn't pressured to make a purchase and I APPRECIATED that. I've read horrible reviews about optometrist's office staff turning into "used-car salesmen" when it's time to sell eyeglasses/contacts. Luckily, that's not the case here. Most of these things I mentioned above should be standard at a doctor's office. Based on reviews I've read while doing my optometrist search, I realize that good customer service isn't so common. I was pleasantly surprised by my positive experience here. We (family of 4) have been going here since they opened up in Pearland. The glasses and services are overpriced, but we wanted to support a local business in our neighborhood. As of today my family and I will no longer give this business our hard earned money. Our yearly eye appointments were on Saturday .My daughter had her glasses from last year but she did not like the frame. She wanted to go back to her old frames and the technician assured us after measuring the lenses that they would be able to cut them into her favorite frames, just to come back in Monday after school. The young lady who attended us right away said there is no way they can do that. I advised her to please ck because the technician on Saturday said it would be possible. After consulting with the person in the back she came back with a hard "NO" . I am assuming she just wanted us to purchase a new set of lenses so that they could get the money from insurance. I am so upset that they could not accommodate us after being loyal customers for so many years. Stay way from this business and go to a more affordable place around. read more

So I came here to get glasses back in Sept '18. I received WONDERFUL ABOVE AVERAGE service from the Optometrist I saw then as well as the opticians and every employee I came in contact with! Each employee went above and beyond with answering my MANY questions regarding the insurance I had at the time and explained everything upfront in clear every day language! I have been to Optical shops where I was so confused by what to expect and what was covered or not covered I ended up mad at myself as well as the optical shop for getting glasses I wasn't happy with in the end! NOT here! Not only did I get a COMPLETE eye exam FREE but I got TWO BEAUTIFUL pairs of glasses for the price of ONE UGLY pair of glasses at the big box store that shall remain nameless down the street! Fast forward 9 Mos to now I don't have vision insurance but I started to have serious vision problems in the last few weeks where I couldn't see road signs or people's faces or even watch TV! I found out my pre-diabetes had gone to full blown diabetes! On Mon 5/13 my primary doc said I needed an eye exam ASAP! I called America's Best and they were able to get me an appointment Tues with Dr. Paul Neicheril. Thankfully my eyes are doing okay for now and have actually improved slightly. I ordered another 2 pairs of polarized glasses for the price of 1 pair at that other store AND my exam was free! I highly recommend America's Best! Dr. Neicheril really spent time with me going over the consequences of not keeping my diabetes under control - blindness being a big one! He went over my options explaining very carefully what they were so I clearly understood them. My husband is coming here next week too! Give America's Best a try and you won't regret it! read more

Loved this Optical shop until I went back to get my sunglasses repaired (loose with missing 1 screw). They said they don't have the screw to get it fix so they recommended me to get a new Rayban frame instead. Technically they said it's unrepairable. Well... I effortlessly bought an eyeglasses repair kit on a dollar store and fix my eyeglasses on the same day. Funny enough that this exquisite optical shop equipped with exceptional MDs, modern technology, and beautiful interior do not carry a simple yet one of the most important parts of an eyeglasses- a screw. I could have listen to them and buy a new frame but my instinct says this is just how they make their sells which is unethical. Customer service is what makes this place stand out. They always know the entire family's name when we show up and go above and beyond most other optometrist I have been to. Their selection of glasses could be better, however, they have special ordered glasses for me several times. They carry some of my favorites and the kids: Ray Ban, Oakley and Tom Ford. They also take VSP. If you need glasses or contacts this is the place in West Pearland. read more

Really like the optometrists but have had some unfortunate experiences and have decided not to return. They incorrectly made my young daughter's prescription glasses and she wore them for 6 months! (Her ophthalmologist was the one who tested it). When I went to confront them about it, the staff was nice but did not agree and I had to be pushy so they could speak and check with the optometrist. No apology was ever given! I hardly ever got a call when my glasses were ready. I usually had to call and find out. read more

My daughter and I are both patients. The Dr.s are usually pretty helpful and friendly. The other staff isn't very professional or nice. The dr my daughter saw yesterday was filling in. She was very nice but when I told her my concerns with making the apt and the front desk staff she just looked stared at me. Wasn't very helpful and could be because she was a fill in? Called almost 3 weeks ago to get daughter contacts. Lady said she would call me back to schedule. Never called. I had to call back. Had my first appoint here a couple weeks ago. Generally not a fan of eye exams because of past experience. But I'm happy to report I absolutely loved my experience here. The entire staff was super friendly. And the doc actually took time to explain to results and images of my exam. I needed a quick updated eye exam so I called after finding this place on Yelp. Upon giving Customeyes a call, I was able to make an appointment for the same day. The staff is very friendly, the facility is very modern as well as clean and the best part is that it is located right off of Broadway near everything else. Another bonus was that Customeyes accepts my insurance. :-) Although I came for contacts, I did notice a huge selection of eyeglasses while waiting. I was impressed with the courteous and professional staff that greeted me as I walked in the building. The doctor, Dr. Elizabeth Mays, was very informative and professional as well. She took her time listening to my concerns and was detailed in her explanation of her diagnosis. I will happily continue brining my business here moving forward. Very impressed and satisfied. My husband and I visited Custom Eyes in Pearland, Tx. We were please with the staff and Dr. May from the very first visit. My husband was not happy with his initial pair of eyeglasses. Abby took them back offered another pair at no additional charge...still not satisfied. Cynthia assisted with changing the nose pads and other adjustments. He made a few more visits to satisfy him and his new glasses. Abby and Cynthia were extremely patient with him. Never an attitude, never was it what "they couldn't do" but always smiling and helpful. Horrible! I have been coming here for a couple of years now and even recommend family members to come here. I received a phone call on 10/17/19 at 11:50am from a woman from custom eyes telling me I am due for an eye exam and she left a voicemail. So I called back and scheduled my appointment for 10/26/19 at 9:45am. No problem right....I called this morning 10/25/19 to make sure they verified my insurance and to verify my appointment. A woman answers the phone and tells me that their systems are down and once they are up she will call me back. I waited all day. I call back after work at 5:26pm and again ask them to pull up to see if insurance is verified and what time my appointment is. The woman verifies my appointment time but checks and tells me that my prescription does not expire until the beginning of next year so my exam wont be due until next year. Ok then so I ask to cancel my appointment and that woman informs me if I cancel my appointment they will charge me a $25 cancellation fee. First of all I usually get my eye exam in November or December and then claim my eyeware allowance in the beginning of each year but since I had received a call I went ahead and scheduled in October. So now I inform the woman of how I can be charged a fee when they were the ones that called me to schedule stating on the voicemail and I quote "you are due for your annual eye exam" , not you will be due but are due. So the woman rambles and then says we will waive the fee this time. I wanted to laugh because I should be charging you a fee for wasting my time with nonsense. If the owner is reading this: if you charge me a fee even after reading all this I will march in there to show you the recordings I have. Since I dont trust a word your front desk staff says. For future advice train your front desk staff better and also train them to say there name at the beginning of the call. Also I truly did like the optometrists here but I wont stand for bad customer service. My family members and I will go elsewhere. Thank you. read more

I don't normally write reviews but after my experience with this establishment I want to warn others! Ordered glasses 02/28/20, was told they would be back in 7 to 10 days, didn't receive until 03/20/20. An additional week. I picked them up the last day they were open before closing due to COVID -19. After I began wearing them I began experiencing discomfort behind the ears. I attempted several times but they were extremely uncomfortable. I called the store and returned to the store the first week they reopened. Upon inspection it was apparent the temple piece was too short. When I lifted my hair you could see the curve of the temple was an 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch in front of my ear. When I returned to the store a sales person tried to adjust them by straightening the curve of the temple. When she did that it was almost completely straight and there wouldn't be much curve left to go behind the ear and to stay on securely. I was then notified the temple was too short and a longer piece wasn't available. I had to select another pair of glasses and I was told I would be charged a 30% restocking fee. I spoke with store owner Sejal Patel about the fee because I didn't see why I should be charged that fee, she told me the store policy is on the receipt, she said I tried them on and she said they don't make people come in the store and that it was my choise to shop there. I tried to explain to her that I didn't change my mind or just didn't want those glasses, they didn't fit correctly and when glasses are tried on you're only in the store a few minutes. Its not until you wear them longer do you really feel the discomfort. I've bought glasses before and sometimes they my need adjusting. They could see upon return the temples were too short. The sales person apparently didn't measure properly or didn't know this piece didn't have different lengths for this pair of glasses. Patel insisted the policy is on the receipt and that I tried them on and that it was my choice to shop there because they don't make anyone come into the store. I know that and wish I had known her feelings before I stepped in there. I purchased glaases in a store because I thought the sales persons would be knowledgeable of the products they were selling. I could have ordered glasses from the internet if i wasn't concerned about them fitting properly and at a lesser cost.I ordered the 2nd pair May 1st, called several times and kept getting different stories, I was even told there is a pandemic going on, which I'm well aware of. I finally received the glasses, June 25th. I think this entire process was improperly handled. I would think the owner would want the customer to get a quality product and would employ knowledgeable staff. I also understand mistakes can be made but I should not have been charged for their mistake. read more

Have been going to this location for the past 3 years and really like it. I've used all 3 doctors, Dr. Patel the first year, then Dr. Damani the next, and Dr. May this year. All 3 were good but I will say that I liked Dr. May and Dr. Patel more because they explained everything really well during the exam. I have a HIGH prescription with astigmatism, along with a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure and partial retinal detachment so a thorough annual exam is important to me. This year we also took our daughter (2yo) for her check up, and the staff and Dr May were extremely (!!!) patient with her! It took a LONG time to get her eyes checked but never once did we feel rushed during her exam. So they deserve a 5* rating simply based on that. We've gotten our glasses made here, and we've also gotten glasses made via a cheaper online website (and then gotten the prescription on those checked here) and they've been EXTREMELY helpful with both situations and did not try to upsell. Great office, I would highly recommend it. Updated to add: With the eyeglasses I got made at this location, my frame broke at the hinge after 8 months of use and they replaced the frame under their warranty. That was an amazing surprise to me. read more
