Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I purchased a home in late 2023 and shortly after, my furnace went out during winter. I had the American Home Shield (AHS) insurance and I made a claim and they contacted Redwood Mechanical who they contract with and they responded promptly. The technician was courteous and professional and gave me detailed explanation of what needed to be done. It was upwards of $10,000 job mostly covered by AHS except for some personal upgrades I would pay out of pocket for. The technician told me that he would email me on Monday probably for a grand total. This was on a Thursday. The following week I heard nothing so I called the office and a woman answered and she said she would check and get back to me. I hadn't heard back from her for a few days so I called back and left a message which went unreturned. From that point on, I was unable to get a hold of anyone at the company for about six weeks. I called several days a week, sometimes several times a day and no one ever answered the phone. I left voice messages, text messages, and email message which all went unanswered. During this time period I called AHS and let them know what was going on. They called and emailed Redwood Mechanical twice with no response and my complaint had been escalated to a higher level with AHS. At the six week mark AHS told me that if Redwood Mechanical didn't respond by the next day that they would find an alternate HVAC company to do the repair work on my furnace. The very next day I called Redwood Mechanical and they actually answered the phone. A coincidence that on the final day before they lost the contract they responded to me? I told the woman I spoke to that I had been trying to get a hold of her for six weeks. Her response was that the product hadn't come in yet, she was sick, I think she said she had to take the kids to school, etc. I was like yeah okay but SIX WEEKS with not answer to any of my messages? She admits that they "dropped the ball." They did complete the job eventually and the work was good quality and met my expectations. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and am understanding when mishaps occur but this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 59 years. I don't understand how anyone runs a business like this, ignoring a customer's call and emails for a month and a half. The only thing I could figure was one of two things: 1. Because I was using AHS and Redwood Mechanical had the contract to repair my furnace, they knew I would be there waiting regardless so they didn't care enough to make a minimal effort to "meet and exceed" their customers' expectations as stated on their website. Just put me dead last on the customer service list knowing I'd be there when they felt like dealing with me. Pretty coincidental that on the last day before losing the contract they responded to me. For all I know, the product had already come in days before but they preferred to handle other jobs first. Or 2. The other possibility is that they just don't know/don't care how to run a business. It's been about a year since I had work done and did not plan on writing a Yelp review. However, a few weeks ago I had called the office asking about type/size filter they had installed so I could get some. She told me she doesn't have the info but would ask and get back to me. And I never heard back from her. So same old same old so... 5 stars for work done 0 star for customer service. read more

Highly recommended. We bought a home and although the heater passed inspection it would not turn on when we moved in. Elliot came out quickly and found faulty wires, replaced them and installed a new smart thermostat. I write this review a little over a week since Redwood Mechanical completed their work at our house. We went for a bid from multiple local HVAC companies. Granted, I was expecting a range of pricing, but was amazed at how drastic it was. I'll leave Redwood Mechanical's competitors names out of the review, but the work that Redwood Mechanical completed was done at less than 1/3 the cost of one competitor, and two others wouldn't even provide an estimate because they wouldn't do most of the work. That made the decision easy on the pocketbook, so the work would be the tell-tale matter. To this, unfortunately, Mitch and Kerri were not only well booked, they had to work through family matters, so it took a bit longer to get to us. Additionally, it took two attempts just due to scheduling. Thankfully, I wan't looking for a quick job - but a quality one. I was granted what I requested. Not only did Mitch remove our old furnace (we now use wood for heat, as we have access to firewood), but fixed the venting of our water heater, which we didn't know we needed. However, it was apparent, with the melted exhaust port on the heater, which Mitch showed me. After that, then our real need - installed our range hood over our stove. Not only did Redwood Mechanical do the HVAC work, but the electrical as well - another item in their bid, that would have been either separate from a competitor, or I would have had to do it myself. Furthermore, Mitch explained what he was doing as he worked, educating along the way. Now it gets better - with all the extra parts and labor to make our hot water heater safer - it only cost $50.00 more than the bid Redwood Mechanical originally provided. Better than that, Mitch is an easy-going individual with an phenomenal work ethic, and a pleasure to have working for you. Also, Kerri is equal to the task on the financial side, and got to us our bill on time, and worked with us on payment options. I am not sure I could rate Redwood Mechanical higher, but they deserve more than 5-stars for the work the did for us. If you are looking for any HVAC work, I urge you to give Redwood Mechanical a call for a bid. Not only will you appreciate the cost of the work, more importantly - the work itself. read more

Mitch has superb customer service skills, my husband and I were very impressed by his knowledge and level of professionalism. They did an excellent job, and got our whole system up and running in a couple of days. We know who we'll be calling first if we need more work done in the future. Hired through a contractor, Mitch came to fix my stove but didn't exactly finish the job right. When it wasn't covered his tune immediately changed. Wifey up in the ivory tower was quick to come to his defense claiming they do the job right every time. Inadequate work, unprofessional attitude and just a big NOPE. read more

I was a little leary after seeing some bad reviews but I would have to discount those after Mitch displayed such professionalism and had my unit heater installed in such a short time. He had a new trainee with him and as I was working nearby I could hear Mitch telling that person what he was doing, why, and helping him learn the intricacies of the trade. I also learned that there was more to installing a unit heater than I thought and if I had decided to go it on my own it would have been an epic fail. Mitch is a kind and happy fellow and was extremely polite, both to me and his trainee. How he treated his understudy speaks volumes, you can not fake that kind of respect. I also learned that getting a HVAC person on site in the middle of a hard freeze is near impossible. I tried many other companies and all were very, very busy. Waiting for a call back from others, it just did not happen. Redwood Mechanical kept me up to date and squeezed me in when they could. We were without heat for two months as I waited for my first and second option. I wish I had called Redwood Mechanical first. They were very busy in the day I had called to have my Rudd heater looked at. They were happy to schedule however Redwood Mechanical referred me to Six Rivers Mechanical as an alternative to get my heater looked at (possibly) the same day. I was amazed by the great service and professionalism of Redwood Mechanical. Mitch and Kerri have been honest, communicative, and just pleasant throughout my entire experience with them. I needed a new HVAC and a lot of new ducting and duct repair on my home. Mitch gave me a solid quote, and timeline, and stuck to it all! Not to mention when little things popped up on the job, Mitch would take care of them for no additional cost. Plus he's super knowledgeable and loves to chat about the works he's doing.
