California Heating was very responsive to the phone and did a great job with the diagnosis and repair the next morning. We had a cold spap weather this week and when I called four heating companies none could come out for service for three days more I reached California Heating at 4pm and they came out the next morning as promised and within twenty minutes diagnosed why my 40 year old Coleman furnace had stopped working. As it turned out my HOA had hired a plumber to replace my gas meter which meant they had to turn off the gas without telling me which meant there was no gas for the pilot light. California Heating cleaned the furnace relit the pilot light. The total charge was $135 the cost of a service call. Great job One of my best friends used them twice once for a complete new furnace for his home and another for a wall unit on a rental property. read more

California Heating did a wonderful job for me. They installed an entire forced air heating system in my older home. Even with the challenges of working on an older home, they remained courteous and explained everything perfectly. They checked on me later to make sure I liked the system. Which I love. I highly recommend this company. They are the best!! Libby George read more

Be aware! Incompetent company with poor customer service. They came twice to fix nonfunctioning central heat at the house in McKinleyville. They were able to replace the filters, however the problem persisted. When they ran out of ideas of how to fix it, they started playing "disappearance" games...saying they sent a technician but not us or anyone actually saw him; they made us wait at home for several hours at a time saying they will "call right back with the updates" but never did. I ended up calling their office 5 times while they called me back 0 times. They were giving us run around with the phone tag till their workday is over and then they close the office for the day...Next day they would repeat the same...The manager and owner is nowhere to be found. Sad situation and boils down to their inability deliver the services they claim they do. Don't waste your time with this one! read more

The California Heating man showed up on time, was friendly and professional. He showed us what was wrong and explained how to fix the problem, and told us how much it would likely cost. I was very pleased with the work and with the worker. I will definitely hire them again if the need arises. J.B. McKinleyville read more

California Heating installed our HVAC system approximately 14 years ago and serviced it a handful of times over the years including about a month ago. On the last visit the service man noticed a skunk while under our home and was surprised to see flex ducting installed which is definitely not rodent proof. We told him California Heating (his company) were the ones that installed it. My husband later crawled under our home to run the skunk off and noticed that there was a mountain of skunk feces in the system. It looked as though a whole family of skunks had been living under there. It was an absolute mess. He called California Heating back to try to get an appointment as soon as possible to either repair or replace the ducting. Unfortunately, they were about three weeks out so we contacted another company who came out immediately when they realized we were having triple digit temperatures. The new company tried to repair/clean our system but found it impossible not just because of the feces but because it was completely rusted out. The cause was the improper installation of the P-trap. (See photo attached). The drain pipe exit after the P-trap was higher than the source before the P- trap rendering it completely useless. It has never drained properly. As a result the chiller completely rotted out (see photo attached). This ended up destroying the system. We do realize our system was older but we should've had at least 5 more years left before we had to completely replace it. It was a quality Lennox system and should have gone 20+ years. We we're also surprised that no one ever noticed this installation error every time we had it serviced in the past. We are not sure how many other systems were also set up incorrectly. Beware of this company! I sent this same info to California Heating and have not yet gotten a response. read more

We ran in to the California Heating company just now and the guy was an aggressive jerk. He blocked 5 cars in at the Little Caesar's claiming my husband and I took his spot. We asked him if he would move his truck and he could have his spot but he refused. He upset our daughter to tears with his rage. Very disappointed and would never ever consider this guy to do any work for us! Especially since he didn't even care that the company name was on his truck... read more

Nate was masked when he came to figure out what was wrong. I loved that he was willing to explain things to me. Andy (masked too) came out to replace the heater in the granny unit and fix the one in mine. He too explained things and was a sweetheart. He did have to come back because the first repair didn't address the whole problem, but they didn't charge me more. The one complaint I have is that it took them so long in the middle of a stormy winter to get me scheduled. I did, though, call a couple of other places and it was going to take them equally long. Just bad timing, I guess. read more

Awful customer service!! Don't use this company! It took them over 8 weeks to "fix" our heater and they never actually fixed it. They did however, make sure I received their $900 dollar bill. For what? They were't even able to get it running. I don't think they have any clue what they are doing! We were able to get a competant company out to our house that identified the real problem in less then 5 min and fixed it the same day and only charged us $170 to fix our heater and it has been working since. They offered nothing but poor customer service and communication. We were over charged for labor and parts and it was for nothing. read more

Our heater stopped working during a cold, stormy week. California Heating was able to quickly get us on their schedule. The technician arrived promptly, quickly determined and fixed the problem. He was friendly, knowledgeable and explained the issue to me. I also appreciated that he arrived masked and practiced social distancing. I'm very grateful and would definitely contact them again for future heating repairs. read more

I live in Colo. Own home in Ca. which my manager arranged to have work done . Work was done in okay fashion-pretty expensive. My problem is they will not send me the bill nor even confirm amount as they have sent that info to my manager. I have called Them to make payment-they wont even confirm amount!!!! They continue to bill my manager. My manager did email me the bill but I want confirmation on how much is due. So today I call again for 3rd time and their phones are down!!!! I'm VERY frustrated as I do NOT want my managers credit to be affected. They said they'd get "permission" from my manager to release the info and send me a bill. This is the craziest thing I have ever heard. I OWN THE HOME!! read more

Heater went out in a rental in Arcata and the repairman came out, never called to tell me what was wrong or okay the work - but the company didn't hesitate to send me a bill for $298 and now a month later, the furnace has stopped working again. I feel there wasn't good communication and am disappointed with the work done. read more

California Heating did a fantastic job installing the heating system in our home which is a very complicated renovation project. With a great positive attitude they took the time to figure out how to get the vents and ducting in the best possible locations. We really appreciate the excellent service they provided and highly recommend them! read more

They waited 2 weeks to call back after diagnosing a problem. When we finally scheduled the follow-up appointment, the made a mistake about the time and then denied that they had made the mistake. We had to wait another 8 days without heat before they were finally able to come. Their internal communication is poor and they are rude to their customers. read more

Heater broke down last winter and after waiting weeks to get the new part it was finally installed for about $400 total. then, few months later it breaks AGAIN! another $70 bucks to fix. few months later (now) and it breaks again. This time a friend checked it out for us. The fan was completely deteriorated. There's no way this happened this quickly, why CA Heating didn't notice this the handful of times they've been here, I don't know! COMPLETELY RIPPED US OFF AND LEFT US WITH A STILL BROKEN HEATER! read more

I have had three substantial jobs performed by California Heating, and have been positively impressed with their technical know-how and customer service each time. We had a major rebuilding of our heater venting system in the roof, a complex repair of an old furnace that added several years to its functioning for us, and just completed the tricky furnace replacement into a very tight compartment. The owner, service staff and office administrator all communicate and problem-solve very well. My impression has consistently been that their focus is on my satisfaction as a customer. I highly recommend California Heating for any furnace or duct/venting job. read more

i just had a new heater installed and have called this company for all my heater repairs for over ten years now. They are hands down the best option in this county. I trust them 100% and their employees are competent, reasonable and just plain honest, good people....there were a few times the office lady was super rude to me but that is no longer a problem. I have always used them because they are the most reasonable and trustworthy. I had another larger Eureka company estimate the same job, they lied about the extent of the job and padded the estimate. California heating is the best choice. read more

This outfit pulled off the old redwood and vinyl gutters on my house, big house, very high up. Once they had them pulled, they noted all the rotten tails and bad spots and recommended we find someone to repair the eaves and fascia boards before putting up new gutters. He gave a price range for that, but they did not do it. So, they left and came back about three months later when I was able to have the work done. I was getting super high estimates for those repairs from other people, $2500-3600 range, but this fellow said about $1000. So, I finally talked a friend into doing the repairs and it was about $750 for materials and $250 for the work, so came out to about $1000, just like this guy said. They used a special ogee for the metal gutters and it made the house look really great. They finished up the work very quickly and did a super nice job. I'm hiring them again to do the garage. read more

Our air conditioner stopped putting out cold air. It was purchased and installed by California Heating 8 years ago. I requested a service call. When he arrived I was told the unit was a "plug and play" so not repairable and needed replacement. He then gave me a verbal estimate to replace. A few weeks later I received a service call charge of $280. This involved 3 hours travel time. (It only takes 1 hour each way to get from their location to the residence). I was at no time told of the service charge hourly rate or travel time rate before I received the invoice in the mail. read more

My experience with California Heating was excellent. They installed a large double-sided wall heater when I first moved into my house, and then three other wall heaters a couple of months later. They were professional, friendly, and helpful. Highly recommended! read more

I was a little hesitant as there were a couple of poor reviews but our propane service recommended them so gave them a call. Was very pleased and impressed with the young man who showed up to evaluate our heater. After determining that it needed to be replaced he checked the availability and said they could be there the next day. A little after 8 am the installer arrived and the job was completely done before 10 am. Was a messy job and he cleaned everything up, checked everything out thoroughly, and even vacuumed out another heater when relighting the pilot light. We are very pleased and recommend them highly. read more
