I use to live in the area and having narrow feet this was the place to buy my shoes. I cannot buy from any chain stores as the shoes just do not fit. Now I live 1.5 hours away and since we were driving through I wanted to stop and find new sandals as mine (bought here) were about 10 years old and all stretched out. I love this store. Anyone with narrow feet should visit this place. I found 2 pair of sandals and would have bought more if they had my size. One pair was identical the to ones I bought years before. The shoes run narrow, fit beautifully and are reasonably priced. Yes some shoes are expensive but I do not think any more then at other non chain shoe stores. There selection is large. My friend and I went last Wednesday afternoon. We walked in say hello the woman with a short hair we're standing there she said nothing so we said hi and I told him my foot situation. I asked her if she had ultra sneakers for women extra wide and she says no this is all we have. Could you look in the back and she just looked at us and she came back and she says no we have nothing and she walked away and asked if we could have someone else help us and she sent alongside another young lady who is also was not willing to help us I was appalled, considering I work in retail I would never ever treat somebody the way that we would treated that day. Well worth the trip to this amazing store - not just shoes but great casual /outerwear too. I had noticed a few shoe brands I was interested in showed that they were carried by Red's Shoe Barn . I looked on a map and saw how close it was to my MA home. I found I had so many quality brands to choose from! Red's Shoe Barn sale was incredible! I just bought a paIr of Clarks that retail over $100. dollars for $34. The sale that goes on till 2/9//2020 is clearance shoes are 1/2 the original price plus an extra $5.00 or $10.00 off that price! Love the styles and selection. This place is OK. They have a good selection of "work shoes" but not enough of what I like (skate shoes, etc). My husband likes the men's section. Their prices are kinds high compared to other shoe places. They usually go by the MSRP and don't have sales. The people are up your butt to sell ya something, which seems kind of old school.. and they write up a handwritten sales slip, so maybe they work for commission too?? I don't know. They have a good selection of basic Carrhart stuff for good prices though! read more

Very disappointed. I was expecting 3 floors of shoes and boots and when I walked in there was only one half of one floor for women's shoes. The selection was very poor and styles not really attractive. We drove from Derry to Plaistow and it was a wasted trip. read more

We LOVE Red's! I have been shopping at Red's for over 25 years. Recently, we purchased at pair of Ugg boots at $155. The boots, that were very well taken care of, lasted less than 3 months, before the seem separated! Scott, the manager, took good care of us, as we are now long distance. I've shopped here a couple times over the past few months. The shoe selection is pretty good - I was able to get the Dansko shoe I wanted, they had the color and size I was looking for. And returns are not a hassle at all - I had bought a pair of shoes while they were on sale, but the sale had ended when I came back to exchange them. I figured that I'd be paying full price on the ones I was exchanging for, which I was OK with, but the man (owner, maybe?) who cashed me out gave me the same percent off of my new purchase. Nice! The only reason I am giving three stars is for the other staff... the girls who actually bring you out the shoes to try. Both times I was there, it was a flock of disinterested teen aged girls who were happier chatting with each other, and seemed to be put out by me when I asked to try something on. read more

The woman was pleasant and helped me with what I needed. When we pulled in a young man brought our purchase out to the car. He was cheerful and rounded out a great purchase. I wouldn't waste the gas to drive to this dump again. Me and the little Mrs. stopped in here looking for some new sandals. Last week they had a sign out front saying Birkenstock's were on sale, so we stopped in to take a look. We arrived to find more sales people than customers. The main floor has women's shoes while I headed to the basement where the men's selections were kept. There were two sales punks (didn't seem grown up enough to be called salesmen) and counting me there was 1 customer. I apparently interrupted the conversation because the place fell silent upon my arrival and it took too long for a forced greeting from these two. I have the misfortune of having short/wide feet so it's hard to find anything that fits, I was told immediately that they didn't have anything in my size (so beat it - in so many words). Oh, they could special order something but that would take from 4 - 6 weeks, great sandals just in time for fall. I went upstairs and told my wife they couldn't have been less interested in helping me and I couldn't be less interested in spending money there. I was told the saleswomen upstairs couldn't have been nicer. Sorry, one doesn't cancel out the other. Turns out as I was collecting my wife and getting ready to leave the two punk twins from downstairs punched out and bailed out. So it turns out rather than take the chance on helping a customer so close to 3 o'clock quitting time, it was easier to brush em off and send me packing. Most of my reviews here have been positive, it is important to me to applaud when things go well, it would only be fair to boo and hiss when they do not. Every time my brother or sister or i outgrew a pair of sneakers, this is where my parents took us to get new ones. Usually around back to school time, and they'd give us wooden rulers. It was exciting...only my feet never grew that much, so i didnt get as many sneakers as they did. also, i hated going to the kids section when i was in high school....now i shop in the kids section of stores often...cuz my feet are only 5 1/2. Yes, they carry high quality shoes but, compared to the Dover store, their selection is very limited. Low score is for the horrible treatment I received when I returned a pair of shoes that caused blisters and bruises. When I told this to the clerk she reprimanded me for having worn them and went on about loss to the store just because of bad "fit". (They fit me fine, leather was to stiff.) while I looked around for other shoes she stood behind the counter and glared at me until it got so uncomfortable that I took a credit for the return and left. Foot Note: The shoe looked perfect and if I had lied and told her they've never been worn this probably wouldn't have happened but lying is not my style. read more

Used to work here as a teenager in the Childrens department, and now I bring my kids here for shoes! The staff is always very patient with my "bunch" as they are not always easy to measure, I like that i can get a quality shoe at a competitive price, right here in my hometown! Sometimes they don't have the size we need but they always offer to check their other store and have it transferred, sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't but it's always a great experience at Red's! read more

I bought my father a pair of boat shoes in June and he wore them only a few times and some stitching came apart and the shoe was in bad shape. I wasn't aware of this and had thrown out the receipt after several months. I called this week and they happily took a look, agreed that it was not from 'wear' and in fact a defect and just grabbed a brand new pair, wrote up a new receipt (since I threw out the original) so that if there are any issues again he can take them right back. We were in and out in 10 minutes and service literally could not have been better.. very honest, and I will continue to come back here for shoes. As some others have said, the store is not HUGE but what they carry is great and the prices are fair. read more

I just came back from Red's in Dover - I went in unhappy and came out piss off ... The two pair of Keen Hiking boots I bought (last April) had become unwearable and worn out. I had to bandage my feet because the foot bed had collapsed. I spoke to the sales person and got a ' so what? they are a year old ' and he walked off. I spoke to the Manager who said me 'What do you want me to do !? ' he could could do something but since all i wanted to do is complain, he wouldn't do anything! This place reminds me so much of the places my own parents used to bring me to when it was time for new shoes --- except the service here is just not so great. I've been here about a total of 6 times (the location is convenient for back-to-school shopping), and about half of those times they were out of the size we needed, and the other half of those visits we were waited on by less-than-helpful gum-snapping teenagers. The prices are too high to be considered a discount shoe shop, and the service is too slack to be called a full-service shoe store. read more

Dover Nh Reds is not that good!!! Its always busy, but im not sure what the big deal is about. The clerks friendly ect? NOT! The prices good ? NOT! I actually went there thursday7/23/14 because they have a shoe on display just my size available,it said so on the tag, along with a higher price than I thought but they were my size and style. I asked the clerk who came out to tell me they in fact did not have my size. he called the Plaistow store neither di they.. but he was adamant he could order them for me and insisted ok so iasked how long will it take? No idea maybe 8 weeks depending on when they "PUT IN" an order... I went home and ordered them on line, they will be here in two days! Thanks Reds you really want my business. NOT! THe store is old and has not been redone in decades, its rare to find what I want although don't know why I kep looking there. Whenever I ask iits always no we don't have that one...ect one time I did find some a few years back... paid and left, while walking to my car I was accosted by a screaming woman who acused me of not paying screaming at me if I paid up! following me getting in my face! I went right back into the store, with her bellowing and gave the shoes and my receipt to the cashier, while being eyed by the screamer, and got my money back and left...im a fool for keeping going back, but no more.
