Completely unacceptable experience here…read more I was the only customer in the shoe department. I waited over twenty five minutes, hoping to try on several pairs of shoes in my size. Two young employees in the shoe department were focused on restocking; after fifteen minutes of waiting, I asked one of them for assistance. (I also heard on one of their radios that someone was waiting for assistance in the shoe department. That'd be me - the only customer in the shoe department.) The two young employees avoided eye contact and the one I asked for help from told me the other employee would help me - I waited another ten minutes and neither stopped restocking to help me. I felt invisible, and angry, that I even bothered driving the 30 minutes it took to get here. I was planning on buying at least two expensive pairs of shoes for the upcoming school year - but alas, I'll be looking elsewhere. Not sure if the pressure to restock is so great from higher-ups or if the two young workers were simply avoiding working with customers. Either way, I will NEVER be back in this Dick's as there is clearly something wrong in this location. Looking at the other Yelp reviews, I'm not the only one with a bad shoe department experience. What a shame.

As long as you know that, level your expectations and get what you need in store. Otherwise, order online.

They've got a retail part and shooting/target section. The staff were all great. Clearly experienced and knowledgable. No attitude, I never felt dumb or like I was asking a stupid question. And they were really good about helping me find what I was looking for, not trying to upsell me on everything. Overall, got what I was looking for, felt really comfortable, and am glad theyre not that far away.

Arriving at the shop I found a densely packed pro-shop that tended toward hunting rigs (which is not a bad thing....it's just a reasonably well stocked shop in need of a bigger space that is stocking what the market demands) and a multi-lane indoor 20 yard target range. The man behind the counter was with another customer but greeted me promptly and indicated he would not be long. (If I had a penny for every gun/hunting shop that completely ignored me upon entry.......so this was a welcome turn.) Noticing there was another customer in the store a gentleman who had been on the line shooting set his bow down, and introduced himself as the owner and shook my hand. He too was extremely helpful, answered my questions and offered some qualified advice after learning the "target/competition" direction I was leaning toward. Basically I got a very good vibe from the owner and his staff and was assured if I purchased my bow through them I would receive a full compliment of expert tuning and fitting services as well as 2 months free access to the shooting lanes. I feel confident that I found the best full service pro shop in the Northeast Region. Lots of places can sell you a new rig but most leave you high and dry when it comes to providing expert assistance with fitting and tuning. Super glad I dropped by Big Al's. Next step is a short appointment with the owner to check a few key measurements (draw length etc.) before we place my special order for a left hand 2018 Hoyt Prevail. If my first impression was typical of their service I'm looking forward to doing business with them. (I'll provide updates once we get the bow in and I have a chance to work with them on fit and tuning.)

Perhaps, only if you're seeking the smallest game on a very short trip. Is there really such a thing ever as having TOO much? Perhaps, there is no such a thing if you're a "responsible" prepper or an avid enthusiast seeking to advance yourself to handle just about ANY situation thrown your way - including the apocalypse. I definitely do not believe there is such a thing as having too much. And I can bet on it that most of the people here today at Kittery Trading Post feel the same way. Yes, the prices are mostly MSRP and sometimes higher. Yes, you can most likely (99% of the time) get a better deal elsewhere (especially online). But where can you actually have the opportunity to TOUCH everything or be likely seduced to WANT more because you weren't aware that such an item even existed? Here, at KTP, that is exactly what happens. You think you have a particular item in mind? How about being thrown more options that most other stores even dream of carrying? Thought you liked something online? How about holding that item in person and deciding if it is the right fit for just a fraction more of the price (and avoid the need to make returns for the most part?) How about being swayed into another product because you "apparently" didn't research it enough to realize there are even BETTER options that fit your exact needs (or because it's more expensive and you can justify it in person, lol)? Kittery Trading Post is definitely one of my ultimate retail spots as an outdoor enthusiast and an avid prepper (for whatever possible events will ever unfold in my fantasies). And every time I'm here, I always leave with at least one new toy for the personal arsenal. Definitely love this place even if it's not exactly the best bang for the buck.
