Within 30 minutes with the expertise of a man named Chappy I left with a ski package deal of a lifetime . He was extremely knowledgable and patient . I have nothing but great things to say about Fire on the Mountain. A year ago, I went into the shop…read morelooking for skis, knowing nothing about what I should be looking for. I was new to skiing, so I just wanted to get some gear where I could continue to build my confidence on the slopes. One of the employees asked me all of the right questions without being judgmental or condescending. He asked me what my skill level was, the price I would like to overall pay, etc. With that, he brought out some boots and they fit perfectly and comfortably. He then showed me some skis that would be good for my height...and with that I left only paying $800 for boots, skis and bindings. Each step of the way, the employee kept making it clear that he wasn't intending to sell me anything, and that he would understand if I wanted to shop around elsewhere. Again, this set me at ease knowing that he was providing me with non-pressured service. Since then, I have returned to Fire on the Mountain to service my skis regularly. Recently, I brought my skis to get serviced, and I asked them about my boot, which had a buckle that was bending. They quickly offered to fix it, and when I went to pick it up, they completely fixed the boot and added a double screw to ensure that it was fastened in. As previously stated, I have nothing but great things to say. If you are looking for ski or snowboard gear in a nonintrusive environment, I highly recommend Fire on the Mountain! Their employees and customer service is unlike any other.

The young man helping us out was very knowledgeable, and super helpful. He helped us find an affordable pair of used boots that were in great shape, and worked with us to pick out a helmet and goggles. The whole time he shared a ton of information drawing on his own experience. We were lucky that we walked in when it was quiet, and he was able to devote a big chunk of time and attention to us. By the time we were finished the place felt packed and the staff was bouncing around, but still seemed to try and offer a great experience to all of their customers. I will definitely go back when we need more gear.

I have been skiing for 39 years and teaching skiing for over 15 and I never had a pair of boots…read morethat have fit and performed better than the boots that Matt Madden made me this year. Not only were my feet warm in the record cold temps of Northern Vermont they out performed any other ski boot that I have ever had on my feet. On day one, I put these "performance slippers" on my feet and stepped out to -30 and taught skiing for 6 hours without even unbuckling them. There is no longer that "hey wait a minute I need to tighten my boots" at the top of the lift. I also no longer have the need to turn the floor heating in my car to full blast on the way home from the mountain each day. If your feet are unhappy, go see Matt Madden and get yourself some Strolz. From clubs to bags to carts to footwear and clothing they have a great variety and competitive prices. Their stock of used clubs is always bound to have a way to get you a new club or set of clubs at a great rate. Additionally, their staff really seem to genuinely care to provide great service consistently. If you need clubs re-gripped or adjusted they don't hesitate to take care of your needs. Sometimes there is a wait and others they will do it while you wait. For example, I had a putter and wedge re-gripped in the time it took me to do a quick lap around the store. Fantastic for sure. I cant say enough about this location and the experiences I have time and time again. 10/10 People seem to only leave a review when they have a less than perfect experience. Which I understand. However, I have been here several times over the last few years and have yet to have anything but a great trip. They help countless customers every season and are still in business for a reason. They do things the right way and strive to provide the service you hope and wish for.

This review goes to eleven…read more Eastern Boarder participated in a trade show selling snowboard stuff and, though it was not likely them, someone steered me toward the wrong bindings for my board. Worst part, since all sales were final, I was stuck with these bunk bindings. Or was I? The management at Eastern Boarder felt that -even though it probably wasn't them that made the mistake- they wanted to make it right. They got on the phone with Burton and got me new bindings!!!! And an upgrade, no less, and shipped them to me. Seriously. Who does that much for a customer anymore?! Thanks Brian and the rest of the team there. Thank you soooo much. I called to see if they would have anything in stock since it would be such a small size and they said yes come in anytime. We arrived and they showed us all the options, fit her with the perfect boots all for an amazing price. She was amped with her new gear and the staff was just as excited for her, it was great. I really wanted a pair for myself so I could join her on the slopes and was looking for something used with no luck. Decided to go back and look at new gear and had a budget in mind. Now it's been a long time since I've skied ( been snowboarding for decades) they explained all the new tech between a large variety of skis, picked out a perfect fitting pair of new boots for my wide feet and it was well under the budget I had in my head. No hard selling and answered all my questions. These guys had me on the slopes that day on some awesome gear. This will be the only place we get our gear now for life. This branch was a spur-of-the-moment visit as we were actually here to visit Trader Joes, but within a couple of minutes a very attentive sales person had established my requirements and led me to the correct aisle, where they actually had a bag in stock that ticked all the relevant boxes - hurrah! In and out in less than 5 minutes.

Two young employees in the shoe department were focused on restocking; after fifteen minutes of waiting, I asked one of them for assistance. (I also heard on one of their radios that someone was waiting for assistance in the shoe department. That'd be me - the only customer in the shoe department.) The two young employees avoided eye contact and the one I asked for help from told me the other employee would help me - I waited another ten minutes and neither stopped restocking to help me. I felt invisible, and angry, that I even bothered driving the 30 minutes it took to get here. I was planning on buying at least two expensive pairs of shoes for the upcoming school year - but alas, I'll be looking elsewhere. Not sure if the pressure to restock is so great from higher-ups or if the two young workers were simply avoiding working with customers. Either way, I will NEVER be back in this Dick's as there is clearly something wrong in this location. Looking at the other Yelp reviews, I'm not the only one with a bad shoe department experience. What a shame.
