I went to this place after reading all the great reviews. I ordered their medium lobster bisque ($9), but after a couple bites and found no lobster pieces, I went and asked about it, the manager said it's made with lobster juices only. All the lobster bisque I've had elsewhere always contain some pieces of lobster (I'm not talking about huge chunks, but at least some small pieces), so I went asked the lady who served me to see if we can exchange it to clam chowder instead. She very sarcastically said, for $7 (referring to the small cup pricing), you're not going to get any lobster. She acted like she did not want to bother with me even though there was no other customer (it was an early Monday morning), until I asked again if I can have it exchanged, then she very hesitantly said "I'll have to ask the manager". So after checking with the manager, she unhappily gave me a small cup of clam chowder. I feel like the people who rave about their Clam Chowder probably never tried Boston Chowda, which has much better flavor and a lot more clams in it. So my experience was terrible, bad soups and rude customer service, I don't think they care about customer feedback or satisfaction guarantee. read more

What a great place to get fresh or canned seafood. Nice deli menu as well. Being part of the public market makes it so easy to grab something and go or sit around the market to eat. We are fans of some canned seafood after our trips to Spain, so to see and buy some of their specialty cans was a real treat. The staff was super friendly and happy to answer any questions and make recommendations. It was really great to see that the fresh seafood had a specific location and fisherman's name attached to it, really makes you appreciate where our food comes from. I ordered a salmon burger for a quick bite and it was quite good. I was a bit skeptical about the arugula, but the lemon aoili cut the peppery taste out and tasted great with the salmon. Well made burger and a good buy, they got it out in a timely fashion even with how busy the market was. One of the little eateries in the Boston Public Market. Everything about this seafood spot was fresh. You can buy so many types of fresh seafood here. I got the clam chowder - very rich. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. The clam chunks and potato chunks added good texture to the soup. I do wish it were a little thicker as it was a bit watery in my opinion. However good soup - and for the portion it was decently priced. The french fries were hot and crispy coming out. Made fresh and balanced out the soup well. Like all tourists, we were walking the Freedom Trail and foraging seafood for lunch. We wandered into Boston Public Market and stumbled across Red's Best Seafood. This seafood market is a hidden gem! They sell locally sourced fresh seafood and also double as an eatery serving rolls, chowder, apps, etc. - Scallop roll: There was sort of a lot of bread relative to the little row of scallops, but it was fried to golden perfection - Clam chowder: This was flavorful and just a dash of creaminess, to my liking. Creamy bacony clam chowder is tempting but puts me to sleep right away ^^;; I love how their version has more of an emphasis on the actual seafood, with overtones of pepper and herbs - Lobster bisque: I also liked how this was not too creamy. The lobster taste was subtle but distinct - Crab cakes: These were the highlight of the meal! It tasted like over 95% lump crab o.O with minimal breading and seasoning to make them into crab cakes Overall, Red's Best Seafood is a nice stop for lunch. Prices are fair for the quality (expect to spend ~$30), and the food was ready fairly quickly. This was probably the least touristy seafood place in Boston that I visited. read more

This is the best seafood spot in Boston! Look no further! I've tried oyster po boys here, lobster rolls, clam chowder, lobster bisque, and fresh raw oysters. Their best item is the oyster po boy. From the flavorful breading on the oysters to the sauce, and the perfectly buttery bun, everything about it was perfect! Their lobster bisque was my second favorite thing there. It is a must try. I went to Quincy Market after the first time coming here, and Red's Best Seafood is still 100% better than anything that I got there. The second time that we went (we had to come here for our last meal in Boston because the first one was so phenomenal), we got super lucky and got $1 oysters. The oysters were $2.25 per piece the first time we went. Their lobster rolls are the most perfectly executed that I had in Boston. The bun was perfectly buttery. The lobster roll had tiny pieces of celery and parsley on it. Every bite had a lot of lobster inside. There was never a line here when we went. There are seats around the stand. You order on one side of the store and pick up your food at the other end. There are boards saying where each their items are from. There's even a little map by the waiting area to show you the process of how they get their fresh seafood.There is a ton of stuff we didn't get a chance to try here yet, but I definitely recommend trying Red's Best if you're in Boston! read more
