I've passed by Red's a bunch of times when I have come to the BPM mostly because when the market is crowded it's hard to really explore everything. Once I saw they had fish tacos I decided to go for it. They give you the option of fried or broiled. I had fried. The portion was larger than I expected and the fish came out perfectly. They grill the tortillas and also use well dressed Cole slaw and some kind of sauce on top. Killer tacos, I will definitely be back. read more

i cannot believe the quality of this place for the price??!?!?!??!?! mind blown!!!! my friend took me to this little building and stated that this was the only place she ever ate from and i see why! their fish and chips were DELICIOUS! 5/5!!! Fish was PERFECTLY fried, flaky soft and steamy when you broke it open, not overly battered and not overly greasy. the fries look unsuspecting, but they're SO good and crunchy; they have to be double fried bc theres no other way they taste that good with just some salt. I ordered the lobster roll, $15, and was pleasantly surprised. It has a good amount of lobster on a toasted buttered roll - very tasty and fresh. It was difficult choosing which vendor we wanted to get lunch from since there are many great places at the Boston Public Market. I'm glad we chose Red's though! Lobster Roll (cold) was yummy and fresh. They give you a generous amount of lobster and for $16 it's a great deal. I had the Salmon Burger which was also delicious on a toasted bun and they added extra arugala. Clam Chowder was very good but not mind blowing. Still, a great stop if you're at BPM and if I was in the area this would be a go to place to pick up fresh seafood to cook at home! Awesome wellfleet oysters and littleneck clams. You can order them to shuck yourself or ask them to shuck for you - I have shucked oysters like twice in my life and suck at it so I opted to have them do it for me. A delicious plate of oysters and clams served on an unpretentious paper plate, accompanied by lemons and cocktail sauce if you want it (although I got the impression that I was supposed to eat it without, since he didn't offer the sauce until I asked, and he was probably right because it tasted way better with just lemon). We were able to find seating in the area and the oysters were delicious. The clams also tasted very ocean-y, which I loved (the technical term for this is maybe briny, but I'm no expert...just a plebe). Yum! read more

During these Covid times, the Boston Public Market is looking rather ghosty. And because of that, our visit to Red's felt a bit awkward. They were pretty low-stock on fish and seafood so we weren't sure how 'fresh' something would be. But either way, the lobster roll was as usual, nice and chunky meat, slightly grilled bun and pretty much standard per Red's. Just a small selection of oysters (two) being offered. Would suggest to call ahead as they may run out of items later in the day. read more

Phenomenal and wonderfully fresh seafood at fair prices. Would like to particularly recommend the uni sea urchin (comes in a tray or in the shell). A fairly rare find! The seafood stall at the Boston Public Market has all sorts of seafood - frozen lobster tails for $7, all types of fish, scallop, and more. The main reason for our visit was the uni, which we found they carried through some online research (one of the rare places in Boston). The tray (around 8-9 oz) was $18, which is fair compared to exorbitant prices charged at upscale sushi restaurants in the area. We also tried a fresh uni that they cut open on the spot ($4 each), and it was wonderful although slightly hard to eat. We are looking forward to making uni pasta with the fresh ingredients! Would love to return to try more fresh seafood. Will say that my only complaint is that they didn't have a great packaging method to help keep the seafood cold, which is important on the way home to prevent it from spoiling and such, but luckily I did not have to go far. Also they will stamp the Boston Public Market stamp card (10 purchases, get a 15% off coupon), but they don't accept it to be used there. read more

Incredibly fresh food at semi-decent prices (this is where the one star deduction comes in). I had the Uni, fried oysters, and the lobster roll. The Uni was legit moving before the person hacked it open. While my heart sank after I saw the poor Uni die right before my eyes, it was SO good (I'm sorry Uni, please rest in peace). It was also worth the 4 dollars. The fried oysters were SUPER fresh, and had a nice crunchy outside. Simply delicious. The lobster roll was just okay, nothing really that special, but it was very fresh. I just don't think it's worth the $20 if you can get the above instead. The raw oysters are very fresh, though a bit small and briny. I also get the salmon belly and the bluefin tuna for sashimi, the salmon belly was amazing it's like a butter melt in your mouth. Lobster roll was fine, I'd prefer it without celery. Food quality is good while the price is fair. The Highlight is Their service is GREAT, all staffs are super nice! Stopped by Red's Best for their lobster roll and scallop roll, also got 2 oyster and little necks. They are conveniently located inside the market, so you can get other stuff too while you're there. First things first, I thought the lobster roll was just ok, because I had a roll at Pauli's prior and between the 2, I liked Pauli's better. But to be fair, I had the hot roll at Pauli's and had the cold roll at Red's. The oysters and little necks were good though, pretty fresh. The scallop roll was delish as well, it had big scallops and was pretty filling. I would definitely give them a try again and try their hot lobster roll. read more

I didn't get a chance to try their oysters (definitely will next time). Their fish & chips (or rather, fish & fries) were a must-get. I love the British take on the potatoes with crispy exterior, soft interior and satisfying wedge sizes, but Red's thinly cut French fries are addicing in their own way. A nice break from the overpriced seafood trinket selling outfits that are so prominent in Boston. No ridiculous queue to deal with. We had the fish and chips and lobster roll and a salad. The portions are a bit small (one piece of fish and about a 6" roll but the salad was plenty big) but the tastes are good and the prices are reasonable for Boston. It is a counter in the market which you order at and then they call your name. There are seats in the corridors or you can take it away. We stopped in after exploring boston all morning. We had been planning on going to a sit down place but saw the fresh fish and just could not resist. We got the fish tacos and the lobster roll. The dish tacos were awesome. Fish crispy fish, soft tortilla shell, crunchy cabbage, with a smokey sauce. The lobster roll was great. Now, this was my first time havinh lobster roll...even lobster, to be exact. The lobster was so sweet and fluffy. It was basicly just lobster on a roll. Delectable fresh sea food! This place knows their seafood- I stopped by here while on the Freedom Trail to warm up and have some raw seafood. I came to the right place! Red's serves up a variety of different oysters and all kinds of fish. The oysters were locally sourced from two different bays up and down the Mass coast. They had vastly differing qualities between the two of them. The oysters were fresh, and shucked before my very eyes. The thing that I was most impressed with was the fresh sea urchin, or uni. This thing looked as though it had just been hauled out of the waters, and sliced in half. I gasped as I looked inside a sea urchin for the first time, wondering how to eat it! Fortunately, the oyster shucker noticed my wonder and gave some helpful hints on how to eat it. The seafood was amazing- fresh, and lots of varieties to choose from. My only complaint was that it took an incredibly long time to get the oysters- they only had one shucker working his hands off, and two guys standing around cracking wise. The employees were friendly, and even offered up an extra oyster in apologies for the long wait, which was a nice gesture. The place was clean, and they offered all the fixin's you might need for the oysters, but I'd recommend just going as natural as possible, since the flavors are so divine on their own!
