I just turned 21 so I came here to get my first drink! There's front outdoor patio seating, where you can see the street (and there's street parking in the front). There's also back outdoor patio seating as well. Just make sure you don't bring in any outdoor food or drinks because they'll tell you to remove it. Inside is filled with music, and where you can order drinks. I told them it was my birthday so the staff helped me choose what to drink! Great staff! Great Beer & Great food! The cons are that the bathrooms are closed ... even for paying customers. As a female on a date night this filled me with anxiety and I couldn't really enjoy the date. They didn't explain why the restrooms were closed and I know we are in the middle of a pandemic but other breweries with outdoor seating have their restrooms open. I would understand if it was a 1 day issue but I'm unsure of the reason. Other than that it was great and it was a chilly day but I'm from Seattle and I was prepared for that. The good news is they said there would be heaters next week! I hope open bathrooms will also be available with the heaters. If you are into beer and haven't been here - GO! I met up with a friend after work, and we grabbed a couple seats at the bar. If you go solo or with one other person, I highly recommend it because you can interact with the bartenders and ask questions about their creative and constantly changing menu. I started with a pint of their Altbier ($6.25) and we snacked on the fried chicken Hahm ($10). Second round was a pint of their Helles Lager ($6.25) and a giant bowl of Taylor Shellfish mussels steamed in Redhook ale and garlic ($13). Everything was DELICIOUS, and they especially nailed the German beer styles (refreshing in the land of IPAs!). Came to this place with a few friends right at 3, when they open. The place was pretty empty so we settled into a nice, comfy leather booth. The place itself has a great ambience, which is probably even more improved when it's packed with people. The high ceilings and industrial loft-style decor made it a cool place to pass a couple hours. The beers are pretty yummy as well -- my friends got the False Facts, which is a brown ale, and I got the Room Full of Mirrors, which is a Pilsner. The brown ale was yummy, ad the Pilsner had some floral notes which set it apart from a lot of other Pilsners that I had. I wanted to order some fries for the table but didn't see any on the menu so I ordered a happy hour cheese pizza for $8. It was definitely a good sized pizza but it was salty and the crust was mediocre. I'd recommend this place for their happy hour beer deals but I think I'd probably go elsewhere for food. read more

Service was amazing, we sat at the bar. Which you have to order at the bar so it really helped us get to enjoy more beers!! You can pick your samplers or go straight to full size! I loved getting samplers because gave us an options to try more! Also love the food menu! They also have daily specials so make sure you hear those, because the daily sounded amazing! I have to say I'm not normally a brewery girl but I was a fan of this spot. I arrived around 8 on a (very chilly) Friday and the place was reasonably full. Now I am not a beer drinker at all (ew) so I was happy to see that they were offering a Cider Rose (or a Rose Cider?) for around $6. I happily ordered that guy up at the counter then plopped down at the bar. Yum. The drink was flavorful and refreshing without being too sweet like some ciders. It was a pleasant amount of bubbly too! Let's just say the name makes sense. I would have happily ordered another but it was time to check out another spot. The atmosphere was slightly more cozy than your standard Seattle-area brewery, and the crowd was mostly youngish white people. No surprise there. If you love beer and/or love good food, you definitely need to check out the Redhook Brewlab! The Brewlab is a new brewery restaurant that Redhook uses to try new beer recipes. The beers are super small batch (I think the manager said they only brew 8 kegs of each batch at a time) and you can only get them at this location. When I was there, the beer menu had about 16 or so beers available. I sampled a few, and they were all good, but I ended up getting a pint of one of the IPAs on tap. It was so good I had to get two crowlers filled with it so I could enjoy it at home. They do have a special on crowlers Sunday and Monday so that was a nice bonus! The food was just as good as the beer! I tried a couple different pizzas and they both were really tasty and went well with my beer. But the highlight of the meal was the Korean fried chicken! They were soooo good! They're basically extra crispy chicken tenders with a sweet and spicy Asian sauce on them. The prices seemed a little high for the portion size (about $15 for a personal sized pizza) but that's about right for downtown Seattle. read more

Couldn't be happier that Redhook picked 30 feet from my house to open up a brewlab. This place checks all of the boxes for a good brewery, and its quickly become a frequent stop of mine. The long and short of it: 1. Beer. The brews here are constantly changing and can range anywhere from standard to downright weird, but are usually pretty tasty. If you're into trying something different more often than not, this place if for you as I can't say I've had the same beer on back-to-back trips. They seem to focus more on the IPA side of beers but really it's a complete crap shoot on what they'll have that day. Price is around $5-$7 per beer which isn't bad for Capitol Hill. 2. Happy Hour. They've recently instituted a 3-6 weekday happy hour with $4 beers and $10 pizzas which is well worth the price. A happy hour pizza and a growler fill up (see #5) has become my Monday ritual for a nice start to the week that doesn't kill my wallet. They also offer $3 Longhammer IPAs during Seahawks games if you're not feeling adventurous. 3. Food. Rehook offers a surprisingly good bar menu that updates every once in awhile. Their pizzas are tasty and they always have a few vegetarian options on the menu (Mushroom Pizza being my favorite so far). The muscles seem to be a fan favorite here, will be trying those in my next visit. 4. Atmosphere. Things I wouldn't come here to do: watch any sporting event as they only have a few TVs. Things I would come here to do: have a few beers and a long talk with a friend I haven't seen in awhile, update my resume, start a night out with friends, pretty much anything else. There is ample room inside both barside and table wise and an outdoor fire pit for when the weather is nice. I'm a big fan. 5. Growlers. The most efficient way to get your beer fill is one of the growlers they have for sale (especially if you live close). $9 to fill up one with a selected beer on Sundays and Mondays might be the best beer deal on Capitol Hill and makes it well worth shelling out the cash for the initial growler investment. 6. Price. Cheap compared to plenty of the places around this area, both beer and food wise. Redhooks brewlab is quickly becoming one of the go-to spots on the hill, and for good reason. Great beer, good food and a nice atmosphere for a damn decent price is a formula that usually works to drag me back to a place for return visits. Yay beer! Overall Grade: A read more

Redhook Brewlab is a cool big space with loads of outdoor seating in front and out back. There were some cool design concepts, like the chandeliers and mural that surprised me for being such an industrial feeling space. I never liked Redhook beers as much as others but the Hazy Big Ballard was really good. More juicy than hoppy, but still some backbone. The chicken sandwich was SO hot, but it was also so good, that I fought against my instincts to drown it in water and finished it! Would prefer bigger fries with a sandwich though. They had a good whiskey selection, too. I thought the TVs weren't set up in the most ideal way to watch the game but it worked. There was a huge line on a weekday but they were understaffed. One employee was a total machine but the other was a bit slow. This is a good place for a group and not a bad place to stop in and drink good beers while watching a game, and a great place to enjoy food and drinks outside. This brand new addition to Capitol Hill is something to check out. Great outdoor seating in both the front and back of the large inside space. The staff is super friendly and well informed about the beers and the unique features in the design of the amazing inside space. Repurposed bus terminal counter for a back bar...very cool! Done with many other reclaimed materials. The wood and metal space just screams PNW. The food offerings have been good from the selections had to date on my visits. Portions are small, but so are the prices for downtown Seattle. The beer selection is 16 taps wide and rotating, so you should find something for any beer lover. They do have wine as well for non-beer drinkers, but no liquor on premise. On those beers, they are $5.50 regular price and $4.00 during happy hour, so you are hard pressed to find anywhere cheaper for drinks during their hours of operation daily.. Only negative so far, everything is ordered directly from the bar, so that could turn into a bit of bottleneck once they have the grand opening and generate larger crowds. You get a table number for food, and they have floor runners bring it out to you, so you don't have to listen for a number to be called.. Shuffleboard table is located in the back right for those upcoming inside days when summer slips away and you are forced inside versus those patios. Definitely worth a visit for any beer fan! Tip: You may want to give them a few weeks to dial it in; if you aren't used to the normal opening pains of a brand new restaurant of this size. read more

I've been to this location several times now and sat at a table, at the bar and on the outdoor patio. Each time the service has been pretty slow, and I have to find the bartender directly to order as well as close out. The hush puppies are fantastic, however, and those alone will keep me coming back. It's a really great place to chill with a large group of friends, and if you have a couple hours with no agenda the laid-back service style may not bother you. I really wish they had more TVs to catch sports, so it's not really a great spot to watch your favorite team, but rather a beer tasting room. I've been here a few times with both coworkers and friends and it's a great place to just relax and have conversation. Have been a few times and have to say I really enjoyed my most recent visit. We had a large group plus baby and dog with us and were able to snag a back patio couch area right after they opened. The manager(?) in particular was SO kind and helpful, not to mention cheerful while helping us with our many requests. The Frose in particular was delicious, along with the shoestring fries. It was late in the day (on the east cost), so, as I was on the west coast, I decided to take a walk to kill some time. I hadn't had lunch so I stopped at Lil Woody's on Pike and grabbed a burger. It could have been awesome, but the beef itself was..meh. Whatever...this review is not about the burger joint. After eating, I walked up Pike and found myself at Redhook's Brewlab. I am SO GLAD I DID! It's pretty new (open since August...I think), but the brewery and brand itself has been around for quite some time. I took my seat at the bar and was greeted almost immediately by Dan who made me feel like he was waiting for me to arrive and wanted to make me feel at home and welcome. As all of the beers on tap are Redhook creations, Dan asked me my preferences in order to select just the right brew for me. He clued In immediately on what he thought I would like, but also challenged me to try some new and different brews...trust me, they have many options. He was both generous and patient as I tried various beers. They were all pretty fantastic. Redhook Brewlab is one of the newest institutions in downtown Seattle, but it is destined to become yet another Seattle Icon....not just because of their excellent brews, but because of the high caliber talent they hire to share them. We enjoyed our time here. Pretty spacious inside seating area, a big outdoor patio / game space, and a super central location in Cap Hill. However, the food and drinks were super hit-or-miss for our group. As a vegetarian who likes to eat regularly healthy, I had very few options on their menu other than a house / Caesar salad or a pizza. Half of the people in my group are also vegetarian, and ordered the tacos "vegetarian style" (with mushrooms) as noted on the menu, but the tacos came with... not much. Here's to hoping the people behind the food here think of a few healthier, inventive, veggie-friendly items that aren't some sad mushrooms in an otherwise boring tortilla with a small side of salsa. I would take a homemade veggie burger or an amazing salad (aka, creative ingredients) or a quinoa bowl over the existing vegetarian items any day. My first drink was a grapefruit wheat beer, which tasted like absolutely nothing to me, so I swapped it with my husband (lucky him) to drink his cherry sour instead. His beer wasn't super sour, so I ended up liking it, but wasn't impressed by the beer I had actually chosen. For as solidly average as the food and beer was, we enjoyed the atmosphere of the brewlab. The music was good, the crowd was lively but not too busy on a Saturday afternoon, and we stayed for a couple of hours. I like the look and feel of the brewery. They have ample outdoor seating and am waiting to come back during the summer. Dogs are allowed on the patio, but only service dogs are allowed inside. I didn't try them all but after the couple I had I wasn't going to try another. Totally avoid the fried chicken. I think it was tight meat but you can't tell. It wasn't crispy but it was rubbery. It had a sauce you could not taste but it just made the crust it touched soggy. The other bar snack I tried we're similar. I have been to the Redhook brewery in Woodinville and I wasn't impressed at all with the taster tray that I had there at all. I saw that Redhook was opening a new brewery in Capitol Hill and saw that the concept here was a bit different. The beer that would be offered here would be collaboration beers with other restaurants, breweries and such. I almost always love collaboration beers and had a renewed hope that I would like Redhook just a bit more this time. I was not disappointed! I got a very good Grapefruit IPA here that was in collaboration with Salt and Straw (which is a ice cream shop). The IPA was a refreshing sort and the flavor was very good! The location and atmosphere is great and it looks like there is plenty of room for lots of patrons. I've been here twice now, and here are my general thoughts. The space is cool, it's definitely a good place to hang out when the weather is nice. The beer selection is good, and the beer quality is decent. I think there are better breweries in the Seattle area, but of the 5 beers I've tried - most were pretty good to decent. My main dings on this place is that it's definitely not cheap, and that the staff isn't very friendly. The first time I was there it was just a buddy of mine and I sitting at the bar, and the bartender was clearly not having a good day. I was asking questions about the different beers, and he seemed completely uninterested in answering them - and we both had to grab his attention every time we wanted a drink. No "how is it?" "can I get you anything else?" Maybe we weren't hipster enough - I don't know. The 2nd time I went, it was a sunny and warm day, and my daughter wanted some ice cream from Salt and Straw next door. We were told we needed to leave the patio "immediately," as no outside food or drink was allowed. When I told him she was almost done and ask if I could order a beer while she finishes, I was told "nope you need to leave." I'm sorry, but it was a child with a tiny scoop of ice cream - it's not like I brought in full meal from somewhere else. She was probably a good 75% done, so I have no idea what the big deal was. If I bring a baby in am I allowed to give it milk/formula or does that break the policy too? I get the policy, but let's use some common sense here. The inside of the place is completely blocked off but you can purchase pints and food and sit outside at one of their tables underneath a heat lamp. The beer selection was pretty good. We ordered the brown ale, stout, Italian Pilsner, and a wheat IPA. The only one we didn't like was the IPA. Ambiance is great. They have several different seating areas including front and back patios, a game room, and a speakeasy-style bar. I just ordered from the regular bar, and the bartenders were not very friendly and made me feel like I was inconveniencing them. I had two different beers and neither was great.
