I felt silly having a burger at thee dancing shrimp restaurant, but I was hoping for sushi and they don't serve it on Sundays (or Mondays during lunch). I came here on a whim after enjoying Flamenco at the NY City Center. It was the dancing shrimp tag line that caught our eye. The black label burger was pretty standard but tasted great. Let's start with the appetizers didn't come out at the same time, which in my opinion if they waited for the Lump Crab Cake to be done the Calamari might not have to the table fried to obliteration. It was served with jalapeno peppers that were equally obliterated but were not spicy. My colleague gets her entree and appetizer at the same time (Cobb Salad with Chicken and Lump Crab Cake. The salmon entree was bland but cooked to perfection I will say that. So for me the Lunch pre-fixe menu a 2; Service 4, Ambience 4. Stopped in on a whim for dinner when visiting the city with the fam. We did not have a reservation but we're seated promptly in the bar area. Turns out they have a live musician playing jazz piano starting at 6:30 p.m. on Fridays, we arrived just in time! Jacob the musician was great, took requests. Just really great rep from Broadway to Sabrina Carpenter jazz covers. Food was varied sushi, seafood, steaks, salads, full bar. As a family we ordered filet which was perfectly prepared, salmon teriyaki bowl which was brimming with vegetables and just what I was in the mood for! Hubby ordered the dragon roll and tuna nigiri, also really great! We took our kids 9+11 no kids menu, but they eat like adults. Yes the description says touristy, but the food and service were top notch...also we are tourists, so hey, was really lovely. Felix took fantastic care of us. What truly stood out was Jelena's service. She was sweet, funny, and went above and beyond, completely elevating the night. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the unwelcoming host, lack of greeting, and incorrect info at the start. The food presentation could also use a bit more effort. Great ambiance with white tablecloths napkins and decent silverware .uniform waiters. Wife's miso glazed black COd cooked tender flaky and delicious over cooked spinach and mushrooms.$47 but that's on par with what we paid at Roy's in Hawaii. Serving size about 5 oz . Not for somebody who is hungry. My $44 lobster roll came with a roll of bread with the body of a lobster attached to the top. Awesome appearance for an entree. Unfortunately most of the lobster roll was either bread or the potato salad filling although the lobster itself was great. At first, we didn't think much of Redeye Grill. The menu appeared basic, like a fancy diner. We ordered the pork chops, skirt steak, crab cake, seafood risotto, and tuna tartare. Everything was great except for the seafood risotto. Surprisingly, it lacked seafood flavors. Our waiter was very nice, efficient, and professional. Since the area is filled with mostly to-go lunch spots and some sit down overpriced restaurants-I wasn't sure if this restaurant would be good or just a large commercial-space with really expensive menu items. However, the food was delicious, the ambience was classically NY, and it was the perfect distance from Radio City to get to a show in ten minutes. Yes, the meals are pricey and so are the drinks-but literally everything we ate was delicious. The food was really good; the price is worth the vibes. The skirt steak was served with a sauce that really amplified the taste. The cheeseburger also came with a special sauce. It made the bun quite soggy and it was falling apart about 15 minutes into the meal. The fries were fresh as well and a really good addition. Service is polite and slow. Signature cocktail list pretty good. I had the house old fashioned, pretty good, though I didn't taste the coffee / cocoa bitters. Appetizer selection for our table included garlic bread (fluffy dough, good seasoning, some what hard to cut in the provided cast iron dish); guacamole with lettuce slices (excellent); flat bread (also good). Menu was interesting, covering many interests (sushi, tacos, burgers, steaks and seafood entrees), which was surprising. I went for the lobster roll - well toasted roll, lined with potato salad, into which large pieces of lobster were placed - lobster was tasty, but the unusual presentation was not what I was expecting, which was a more mixed lobster; cole slaw and fries were good. Absolutely stellar service with very classic American decor! We had a fabulous lunch at Red-eye Grill, and the staff was amazing. They constantly checked to ensure that we had a good experience, and even offered some freshly baked cookies and cotton candy, on the house! Very unique experience indeed. The food itself was also wonderful. We all opted for the lunch set menu, and all the dishes were great. The crab cake was stuffed with crab, and the calamari was very crispy and well done! This place screams high class but the service was MID even with a manager walking the floor and handing out chocolate chip cookies how bizarre. I was peeved they didn't offer that first and seemed to be limiting my options. I noticed that there was no bread given as a starter and as soon as I asked the table a man arrived with chocolate chip cookies and thrust the tray towards us. Tourists snapping photos before curtain call, business diners in for a corporate lunch, theatergoers looking for a convenient bite. The room itself has undeniable polish: plush banquettes, polished brass, and on weekends, live music that brings a gentle warmth to the space. It's easy to imagine why tourists find it appealing, it looks and sounds the part of "New York dining." Service, on my visit, was beyond careless. Dishes were forgotten (twice) and when reminded, our waiter brushed it off with a joke rather than a fix. It set the tone for an evening that hovered around irritation. The food? Adequate, but utterly forgettable. My steak frites arrived competently seared but without much character, the kind of plate you can find and often better executed at a dozen other brasseries. Having to be reminded to bring a desert menu or refill teas (twice). Wasn't expecting customer service perfection but would have appreciated service better than a fast food restaurant. Beet salad, seafood pasta (wine butter sauce instead of tomato base) and lobster roll were okay. Shrimp overcooked in pasta and it was light on lobster and lobster in roll was anemic and adding potato salad as a filler is a sin. Banana cream pie was very, very good. What I expected before walking in here was not the reality of my visit. I was anticipating a classic diner, 1950s style. I was wrong. Like really wrong. It was much more upscale than I pictured. It was a pleasant surprise and experience. I started with the clam chowder. While it was delicious it was a small portion for the price. Out came my cashew brussel sprouts. They had an excellent flavor and sweet glaze. I enjoyed them and it was a nice sized portion. I would say that on my next visit I would ask them to be a little crispier but that is just my preference. Finally was the watermelon salad. What a perfect dish! Refreshing a with a mix of all the right components. A little sweet, salty ,crisp and balanced. The service was fine. They also gave our Hilton Grand Vacation discount with no issues. Finally on our last night, we decided to try it out and so glad we did! First of all they have live music - this was Saturday night. This lady was singing beautifully and playing piano. Really nice! Secondly they have these murals on the wall although some of the depictions on there are quite interesting lol. Thirdly the cozy atmosphere because of the beautiful lighting and decor and comfortable seating really makes this a great space. We ordered a few dishes and shared between three of us - iceberg lettuce salad, spinach salad, flatbread and sushi. Everything was great. They even brought over a huge tray of fresh baked cookies and we could each take one - they went table to table. I asked for hot water and they brought a cute little kettle of it with a cup. The coleslaw was not very good and the side salad was basic. The lobster roll was okay. Bread was tough and kind of overtook the dish. My son ordered the brick chicken. Do not recommend. The chicken was bland, and the dish advertises truffle potatoes. He got maybe three small slices of fingerling potatoes at the bottom of the dish. Not worth it for a nearly $40 plate. My husband ordered the crab and avocado salad. The crab meat was minimal. The best thing at the table was the garlic bread or my youngest son's buttered noodles with Parmesan. Our server was kind and attentive, at least. And to be fair, we didn't voice our issues with the manager. For the quality of food compared to the price, we would not recommend. I get that it's midtown. I know it's expensive. But you'd find a better meal in one of the many cafes or hole-in-the-wall joints that crowd the corners. read more

The food was fresh and the restaurant has a nice ambiance with some outdoor seating too. The place is not cheap though, but that is typical for restaurant in this part of the city - especially one that is right across the street from Carnegie Hall. They do have a happy hour Monday to Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, and that is the best time of the week to visit. There are $10 cocktails, $6 beers, and some cheap appetizers too. read more
