If I were reviewing Redd's 6 or 7 years ago, it would be getting an enthusiastic 5-stars. Maybe it's just become too familiar or maybe it's been overtaken by the general vibe-change in its neighborhood, but it just doesn't feel quite the same anymore. It's still a good place to have a few drinks, but as a new crowd has overtaken the Lorimer stop area, Redd's has (to some degree) fallen victim to this influx and lost some of its charm. There are still many positives, couched with some negatives... Skee-Ball remains a fun little diversion. If you have friends visiting from some boring city or town (i.e. from anywhere that's not NYC), they'll appreciate this. However, it used to be that 300 points got you any drink for free... now 300 points gets you a Coors Light - I'll pass. Having a pool table is great, but as the crowds have expanded, the chance to actually play pool has diminished. The backyard remains a great spot for some spring/summer/fall drinks. No complaints on that front. The front patio is nice, especially if you want to pretend to be finishing a cigarette while scoping out the inside of the bar like a total creeper. The beer selection isn't bad, but often leaves you wanting. The taps have been slowly migrating toward mass-produced rubbish. A few gems still remain. The service is always pretty good. Some of the bartenders are particularly friendly and they're all very efficient and attentive. The popcorn is a good excuse for skipping dinner. Prices are average. read more

Redd's feels like that one cool bar somewhere out in the suburbs or in Des Moines (my partner suggested Kansas City). It just doesn't feel like any slice of Brooklyn I know, but it seemed solid enough. The wood floors and walls hint at a hunting lodge aesthetic but don't carry it through (which is good, as there's such a thing as too much kitsch). The pool table is topped in red felt and there are unapologetic, unironic neon signs for mainstream domestic beers in the windows. The bartender was the only likely hipster in the place during a Monday happy hour. The other patrons were super polite. They were playing oldschool soul and mellow R&B. The Big Buck Safari game was thoroughly adequate and the scoreboard is on the low side. The green gun worked perfectly, the orange one seemed a bit sluggish on the reload. The well whiskey is Old Thompson's and costs $4 during Happy Hour, although Emily M.'s review makes me wonder if I should have asked what the Knob Creek is going for these days. read more

We live super close to Redd's but for some reason never make it in. We wanted to try something different so we decided to give it a try for a little Sunday football action. It was pretty crowded but ended up snagging to seats at the bar. $2 Coors Light drafts, can't really go wrong for that price. They seemed to have a decent beer selection but we were going all day and wanted to keep it lights so we stuck with the Coors Lt. Bartender was friendly and prompt. Place is very un-hipsterish which is nice for this neighborhood. Until football becomes ironic, sports bars are a good safe haven from the pretentious novel-writing crowd of Williamsburg. They have some video games, a pool table and skeeball set up as well. On Sundays Redd's offers a small menu of wings, nachos and sloppy joes. Its catered, like in sterno pans and all as they don't seem to have a regular kitchen. We got some wings and nachos. For the vegetarian we got the nachos w/o the chili. At $3 they were about worth the price. Small, with cheese, salsa and sour cream. Not horrible, not great. I got an order of buffalo wings, or should I say 'butter wings'. I'm a huge fan of the classic buffalo recipe of Frank's Hot and butter but these seemed to have been about 75% butter. A tiny bit of spice and all buttery sweetness. Not really my thing. They also had bbq and teriyaki which I didn't try. Overall, Redd's is good spot to have a few beers and kick back. read more

This is my local! Redd's, you saved my relationship. When I want to watch a game on their new giant flatscreen TV, I can bring my girl (who isn't into sports) here. There's skeeball, pool, darts, Space Invaders, a kililin' jukebox, and free popcorn. They don't have a kitchen but they do have grills out back which get plenty of use in the summer. The vibe is extremely chill and usually not too crowded. Eric and Laura are not only great bartenders but very friendly and knowledgable when it comes to Hockey and American Idol (respectively). read more

I have lived all over the US and Redd's is by far one of my favorite bars. During the week, its relaxed, the patrons are easy going (most are regulars), the drinks are cheap (for New York), there's free popcorn, 50 cent skee ball (And a skee ball tourney, if you're good), dart, pool, a front and back patio you can smoke and drink on. The bartenders are some of the best people in Brooklyn, with the bonus of being great bartenders too. The owner is even wonderful. TVs, good music, good company. Best bar in Williamsburg. read more

One of the best neighborhood bars in Williamsburg. They have TV's and will generally turn it to any channel you wish, but they have Extreme sports, cartoon network, comedy central on as a standard. My local. I don't know why this place hasn't caught on more than it has, but then again, I'm glad it hasn't. It still feels like Brooklyn in this bar and thank God for that! Good beer selection, and they actually put the orange slice in the Blue Moon. Eric is amazing bartender - his margaritas are killer. Thursday is the day to go to get 'em! Best place for summer barbecues thanks to their outdoor seating and open grill. In the indoors you can shoot pool, play skeeball for free beers or take a seat on their cozy couches. The fact of the matter is it depends on which bartenders are working when you go to Redds. I've had two different great bartenders and three (three!) other experiences where the bartenders actively ignore all customers or spend time outside chatting or reading at the bar with their back turned. It's a roll of the dice every time, but the space is cool, never *too* crowded, the back area is nice, most of the time you can see the sporting event you're interested in, but, yea, come in with lowered expectations for sure. read more

Redd's is what it is, and what it is is an average sports bar with average beers and average service. Which makes it great for a large gathering or party, but not for casual hanging out or meeting up for drinks. There is a skee-ball machine though, and I'm still working on scoring enough to get a free beer, so I'm sure I'll be back. read more

I've been here before and had a nice time but they need to step it up a bit for football Sundays. There are a ton of TVs and they do have the Sunday ticket but all TVs share 3 boxes so you can't actually watch all the games at once. Also yesterday the TVs were set to standard definition feeds even though the TVs are clearly HD models.
