TERRIBLE service. Came here after a concert at the Prudential, although it was a little busy, the bartender kept ignoring us. We let it slide and ordered our first round after about by 20 minutes of being ignored. Fast forward and our drinks have been empty for 25 minutes, bartender continues to serve the people around us, who have been at the bar for about 2 minutes. We patiently wait, when he finally comes to us I complain about the wait to which he responds "you can leave if you don't like the service". Not difficult to figure out what we did. I've been to Redd's about 3 times now, each before an event at the Prudential Center. I've seen the place very crowded and also not so crowded. It's a little tough to maneuver around when the restaurant is crowded, but there is seating every where - at long tables, at the bar, some high top areas. I've always found a spot within 5 minutes of arriving so it hasn't been too bad. All 3 times I've been we've had a waiter or waitress. They take your drink and food orders, come back with drinks and a pager, and then when the pager goes off you can pick it up at a window. I haven't really explored too much of the menu because the food I order is always so delicious. We usually start with their huge pretzel to share. It's always been delicious - golden brown on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. The mustard they serve with it is absolutely delicious. For my meal I order the pretzel chicken schnitzel, another absolutely delicious dish, and it comes with that delicious mustard sauce as well. It's a pretty large portion, so I have shared the dish and it's been plenty of food. It comes with a side of veggies and potatoes. I highly recommend it! Their beer menu is pretty large. They obviously have German beer with other staples mixed in. I've tried a few of the German beers and they are pretty damn good. I like getting them on draft, they are always cold and complement the food nicely. I'm sure I will hit up Redd's again when I attend another event at the Prudential Center. read more

This was a fantastic eatery! We came here just before Disney On Ice. Kids got chicken fingers n fries from kids menu. Which they all loved. We frequently go to prudential center and I cannot stand the bar next door because it gets way overcrowded. This place was crazy too before a devils game, but at least we found room to stand at one of the long tables and eventually got seats at the bar. Living in Germany for three years, it was awesome seeing the extensive German beer list and take on German food (authentic wise I don't know, I didn't try it!). We just had a basic chicken Caesar salad and chicken fingers, which was standard but came out shockingly fast for a packed bar. However, you can't only have two bartenders on game night. The poor girl on our side was drowning in a 3 deep packed bar but tried her best. I would definitely return, but I would go early (we were there 2 hours before a game!) to get a seat. read more

I always come here for Devils pregames. The space is huge, so a lot of people can fit, which makes it an appealing choice. It does still get packed, but that's part of the fun. Great atmosphere. The few times I've gotten food here, it's actually been very good. The prices are fair, ESPECIALLY compared to arena beer and food prices, but that's to be expected. Overall, it's a fun spot and probably the best choice for a couple drinks before you head in for a Devils game (or other event). read more

An indoor garden of picnic tables, no outdoor drinking here, but I'm a fan of the 24 taps, bratwurst, potato pancakes and especially the huge pretzel with cheese sauce! Order food at the window, get half liter beers at the bar for $7 and by the time you're settled your food is prolly ready. Glasses match the beer, the beer geek in me loves that. Table service at Redd's will get you a refill of Radeberger, Weihenstephaner or Franziskaner just to name a few of the German drafts; or if you insist, a domestic macro like bud light. My weisswurst came on a slice of rye with cold sauerkraut, not quite traditional, but also came with sweet mustard which was decent. We Visited Redd's Biergarten Friday night around 530. The place was packed with the after work crowd and especially with the Barry Manilow concert goers later that evening. It was tough to find a place to sit but we got a table in the back. With the tremendous crowd that night it did not take too long to get our food or a drink from the bar. The meal was delicious and I look forward to going back to Redd's the next time I go to an event at the Prudential Center hotel n Newark. read more

This place is pretty wild before a Devils game. It's a lot of fun and they're mug options are HUGE. The beer options are fantastic and honestly I enjoyed the atmosphere. The food is good, I'll have to admit it does leave a little something to be desired. All in all I enjoyed my time here but I think their food could use a little enhancement. Their service behind the bar is great but you're left to essentially roam on your own. Calamari was a bizarre presentation. if you're not going to deep fry it, it's got to be top quality. This was not the best calamari to be serving sautéed. The schnitzel was perhaps the worst I've ever eaten. I'll admit, it was edible, but barely. The gravy was "off." At least the potato salad and veggies were good. Good place, although kind of pricey, to drink beer. If you find yourself needing to eat here you might stick to a burger or a wurst sandwich, something harder to mess up. Staff was nice enough, but I was in when it was slow, not sure how they perform when the bar is packed. Needless to say, a place has to go pretty low to get one star from me. The beer selection is interesting and the bratwurst was tasty. The restaurant is across the street from the Prudential Arena, making it both convenient and crowded before events there. Took my friend out for some much anticipated German food and brews. When we arrived we weren't greeted by a server or anyone until we went over to sit at the bar. The bartender passed us a food menu. The spot we sat at just opened up and there were dirty dishes from the previous customers. Their checks were also left and my friend and I commented on how rude we thought it was to leave a dollar tip on a twenty dollar bill. After several minutes, we were left sitting with the menu in front of the bar of dirty plates. The bartender walked over to chat with a woman behind the bar standing directly in front of us. Then walked away. A young lady sat down next to us moments after and was served immediately. We finally gathered our coats and left. We now know to run away fast when we see a $1 tip. read more

Good burger but under seasoned. $10 for 4 frozen Potato pancakes? Kind of ridiculous. ALSO... the waiter asked for a credit card to open a tab. I made sure to let him know prior to giving him my card that we were paying cash. "Oh... make sure you remind me later when you ask for your bill." .... okay? They charged my card $50. Then put the $50 back after we left. It's not the charge I'm upset about, it's that I specifically said I was paying cash and there was no communication of them charging my card at all. Nice place to go before the game, better than average beer selection, but this is really not a beirgarten. First off they have very few German beers, more craft beers than German actually. Also their wursts are really glorified hot dogs and sausages. The curry wurst was a foot long hot dog with curry sauce, come on. Stopped in after a going away lunch next door for a top off and I'm glad we did! This place is pretty big, but there seems to be a lot of wasted space on the Market Street side-though there really isn't much they can do about that. I ordered a Kosteitzer - great German dark beer described as "Black Lager with a mahogany color and a lasting cream colored finally poured head. Thuringen, Germany." I REALLY liked this beer and would order it again in a heartbeat! I also ordered a Boulevard Tank 7- described as "Belgian-style farmhouse ale. A big surge of fruity aromatics, and grapefruit-hoppy notes. The flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish. Kansas City, MO." My first couple of sips I didn't really like this one - felt almost like a hard-cider, but after a few sips I was hooked...it was actually a pretty good beer. Only food we ordered was the Bavarian Pretzel from the happy hour menu...was very good actually. We came to redd's to do some "research" on local bars! And we lucked out big time because 1. October fest 2.parking 3. Great space and cool bartender (Ashley) she is very personable and knowledgeable of the beers and there complexity ! They have 24 beers on draft that definitely caters to all beer pallets! They offer a beer flight for $5 but you can customize it for $3 more. The venue itself is large, dual bars on either side of the restaurant, a large communal space in the middle and picnic style seating throughout. This is a good place for large groups especially during their banging ass happy hour from 2-7. We only snacked on the potato pancakes that came with sour cream and applesauce. (Pic attached) The ordering system is different, so you place your order (in our case w/Ashley) and your given a waiting buzzer that goes off when your order is ready and you pick it up from the window when it's ready. Love coming here. Always friendly people behind the bar, other customers are great, plenty of seats. Their kitchen tends to be open later than other places in the neighborhood, making it a great "shoot, I worked late again, where can I get dinner and a beer" place. Only downside is the lack of soft surfaces--typical for a beer hall--so when it gets crowded, it gets both loud and echoey. read more

First time going here. It is a huge location, with two bars and many tables. They have a lot of TVs, we were watching Monday night football. The bartenders were friendly, attentive and quick with drinks. Many beer options to choose from. The menu is huge with different appetizers, and sides to choose from as well. I had the Mac and cheese wedges and wings and my friend had buffalo chicken tenders which he gave a A+ on flavor. Loved their Christmas Ale beer and Sam Adams -Winter. I am sure the pandemic hurt them, but if you are going to open to the public, then do the best you possibly can. As a chef for 30+ years, I am appalled at food that is not fresh. Bees are fine here, food is another story. The waiter is as attentive as he can be, as he takes care of half the room by himself. Oh and 50% capacity not here! We sat by the door just in case. The food I wanted they didn't have!?? Curry wurst ?? If ya have it in the menu then is should be here, we were 2 people here with maybe 10 others at the time so they had not been hot yet. Ok I order another wurst, and my friend orders calamari. Let's just say the smell of the calamari when it hit the table was enough for fish to not eat as bait. The wurst was ok and sauerkraut looked to be several days old and just constantly reheated. Being the only place open in the area choices are slim. I would not come here for the food...ever! Pretty interesting place across from the Prudential Center. I image when there is a game, it would be crazy slammed. The eating area is traditional German open seating which makes for a loud bar. Nothing wrong with that, I am just saying it is loud, I sad at the bar and the bartender could not hear me, LoL. Pretty good vibe at bar with lots of local people. I started with the Oktoberfest Bier Cheese. I was pretty darn good. I mentioned that it would be great to have a pretzel to dip in it and the bartender got me a pretzel at no charge. The joint hosts a lot of business events, almost every night. Anyway, the biz event ended at 7 pm and left four or five large platters of food, which the bartender grabbed and passed down the bar. It's not a real biergarten, but more like an American sports bar with a biergarten theme. It's a bit kitschy, but still, the very good solid German food and prices won us over. I ordered schnitzel, which came with potatoes and a salad. The portion size was enormous. Thank goodness, I was starving, otherwise I could not have finished it. The schnitzel was slightly cooked a little too long (a touch dry - either removing it from the fryer sooner or having a sauce would have helped), but other than that everything else was fantastic. I'm not sure what was up with the slow service. Either they were understaffed late at night or this is how they always are. It took us a long time to find anyone to get our order.
