Great cafe. The food is amazing and the selection of draft beer is second to none. I ordered a Reuben that was one of the best I've had (and I've had more than a few). The staff is friendly and accommodating. Typical order at counter set up. If you are ordering drafts you simple bring your number to that ordering area, order your drafts, and pay for your full check there. They bring the food out to you. We went on a Friday night before a football game and the place was packed as it is only a mile from Blanco HS. Quick order turnaround with plenty of time to "pregame" explore the many draft choices If you are in the Hill Country for the day, or traveling to Blanco for a game/meet, you should check this place out. We stopped at this cafe as we were making our way back to San Antonio. It's a must stop. I had the hot meatloaf sandwich that was absolutely delicious albeit way over sized. I would definitely get this delicious sandwich again! My daughter had the chicken salad sandwich. It too was oversized although not the best she's had. It had a very creamy mayo base with chunks /cubes of chicken. Not horrible although not the best she's had before. The hibiscus tea was right on point. So good that we got a tea to go. Tge bartender was rude and told my mother in law she didn't ask for a spicy Bloody Mary, she said regular, but brought her the "Excessive Bloody Mary" from the menu when she stated three times she wanted a regular Bloody Mary without all the extra stuff, but spicy. she was very clear. Then when he handed it to her and he was standing there discussing the mini grill cheese fell off (her fault) but her just picked it up, didn't offer to bring a replacement. he shouldn't work in a customer service role if he doesn't know how to be polite and of service. Then our sandwich took 1 hour to get, even after we went back up twice to check on it. We finally asked for a refund. the people at the front register were at least polite and gave us a few cookies for our inconvenience so they are the ones we are giving 3 stars to, the bartender gets no stars. read more

A bit pricy. My husband and I ate at Redbud Cafe in November of 2019. He had the egg salad sandwich, a half-sized Greek salad, and a Maine Root root beer. I had the chicken salad, a half-sized Greek salad, and water. It all cost just under $30. His sandwich was on a lovely, flaky croissant, but the egg salad was a bit bland. My chicken salad sandwich was on sour dough and tasty, with large chunks of chicken. The Greek salads were terrific, with lots of very flavorful kalamata olives, feta, and sliced grape tomatoes and a wonderful yogurt-based dressing on the side. The sandwiches were filling: we each took half home. Service was quick and friendly and the place was clean and pleasantly decorated, with colorful vinyl tablecloths (each table had a different pattern). Read a recommendation in Texas Highways magazine. On Lilac Festival weekend we dropped in for dinner just after 5PM. Very busy place. Short line, moved fast. I had the Western Dip and she had some sort of salad, the. We shared a slice of key lime pie. You order at the counter, they assign a table, and then bring out the food. Situated in the original Blanco Hardware Store in Blanco's historic square this place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't judge this book by it's cover. Inside you walk into a open, low key, community centric space. This place is the local pub, café, and market. You can pick up items to go, or sit and enjoy a bite and sip. They serve on tap a full selection of the local Real Ale Brew, or you can purchase 6 packs to take away. They also have some local wines available to purchase by the glass or bottle. The food is made fresh each day with local products, which are mostly organic. They even have Udi gluten free bread that you can opt to have any sandwich or burger made on. They also roast their own coffee beans. Live music can be enjoyed most Friday or Saturday evenings. As both owners are potters by trade, you will find the café space shared directly with the pottery store next door. When we entered we were immediately warmly greeted by one of the staff members. He was a local Blanco resident and super informative and helpful. We went up to the counter and ordered our food, were given a number, we paid for the food and then found a table to go sit at. The chicken salad sandwich was delicious. I am not a big fan of Udi bread, so next time I will just get a naked chicken salad sandwich. Because the sandwich innards were fresh, had a perfect balance of ingredients, and light on the mayo. The Udi bread itself was tasteless and crumbled to bits in seconds. What an incredilbe Ruben! I got their Ruben, and was a little apprehensive, as it was made from pastrami, and not corned beef. However, I was delighted when it arrived on marbled Russian rye, with delicious sauerkraut and a homemade cole-slaw. Delicious! The ambiance was very cool- they offer the local beers on draft, and whole lot of beers that you can take home too. They offer the rain records for Blanco County, but seem to have not kept up with them since 1999, which is kind of a bummer. I had the lavender lemonade, which was simply incredible. We talked to the owner of the lavender farm that they get the flowers from. It was awesome. Overall, a superb place right on the town square. read more

So, the things that I love about this place, and we have been coming for years. The very best egg salad ever and the pimento cheese is some of the best I have had. Good burgers, especially the one with the poblano peppers and jalapeno bun. Seriously good. The queso and chips are also very good. The key lime pie, the cheesecake and all bakery items are awesome! The not so good...I am giving up on trying to get a decent piece of quiche here. It is super dry, not all all creamy, overcooked and simply not good. I can do spinach in quiche, but seldom have options without it, and since it is already dry it just doesn't work. Spare yourself. The tuna salad is also exceptionally dry and pretty flavorless. Not worth trying, unless you like tuna with shredded carrots and nothing else. The soups can be good in winter months, but too heavy in summer months. They should do an occasional cold soup in summer...think gazpacho, vichyssoise, cucumber, etc. Just as one option. read more

We attempted a few years back to try the burgers here during the Lavender Festival. They had a special menu that week and weren't offering burgers, so I left with a pouty face and some rabbit food and vowed that one day I'd return to try the burgers I'd read about in the glowing reviews on Yelp. I'm so glad we finally did! The Blaze of Glory is my new all-time favorite burger. I ordered the same thing here--twice in a row--and we made a special trip back to Redbud Café the very next week because I had to verify that I hadn't hallucinated how amazing this burger was. Guys, this wasn't a hallucination... The burger touts a 1/2 pound handmade Angus patty topped with pepper jack cheese, grilled jalapeño and Serrano peppers, sriracha mayo, served on a sourdough jalapeño bun...oh yes, Blaze. Of. Glory. I ordered it medium well and the thickness of the patty contrasted quite nicely with the heat of the peppers for a robust and well-rounded flavor. Of course I ordered the chips and homemade salsa because you can never have too much of a good thing. I was chuckling, picturing my mouth feeling like the inside of a volcano, but in all honesty it wasn't really all that hot. It had just the right amount of kick with an array of wonderful flavors and it was truly memorable. I couldn't finish it all, but it was still fun trying. Be sure to order a lavender lemonade to wash it all down. It has a subtle lavender flavor which mingles nicely with the fresh lemon--it's a little different, but definitely worth trying. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and hibiscus tea and my daughter had the grilled cheese. Her grilled cheese was buttered and toasted with two types of gooey sharp cheese and I would consider ordering next visit if I didn't like the BOG so much. And while you're indulging, you must try the moist layered chocolate cake for the grand finale. Service was friendly, everything was fresh and the restaurant was clean. I believe they also have live music on weekends and a large selection of local craft beers and wines. I'd definitely recommend stopping in or even making a trip out here. This is my first Yelp check in here but not my first visit. This place simply rocks!! The staff is ALWAYS friendly and prompt, refreshing. The first thing is this super Blueberry Soda from Maine, appropriately named Maine Root Soda! I don't really care for soda at all but this stuff is good. My lunch was the Fish Wrap in wheat! A hint of celantro and cabbage and this wrap is tasty. The tortilla chips and Mango Salsa on the side are amazing! Great meal, great place to stop. A Must Do! We like the Redbud because the food is well prepared and until our last visit the service was great. Unfortunately it appears they have changed their kitchen procedures to prioritize "To Go" orders. It took about 40 minutes to get our food and we were not alone. There was grumblings heard all around us about the wait. When I inquired about it I was told they had to move the to go orders ahead of us and they were trying to keep up. I don't really want to place a To Go order at Redbud just to get timely service so this may not be a good option going forward. read more

Im truly satisfied with this visit again...These burgers are the Best of the Best...Cooked how you want makes all the difference...I always take the medium route, slightly pink and juicy as it gets...Ask for extra Napkins before you sit, you will need them. This time I went with the Bacon Blue Cheese. Loaded with Bacon and Tart Blue Cheese...Ever Bite down to the last is exceptional. And I really cant say enough about the potato salad...I have been working a recipe as home to try and copy it...Its so light and fresh tasting, its something you wont forget, and will get every time you come back. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I suggested to my family that we dine at Red Bud Cafe after visiting Blanco State Park. The town square was not packed. There was plenty of parking. The cafe was about 1/3 full. Lots of empty tables. Other than my family there was no one else in line to place an order. We looked over the menu for a few minutes then indicated to the cashier that we were ready to order. HER RESPONSE: "Now YOU KNOW there is a 25 minute wait, right?" I mentioned that we were ordering 3 sandwiches - chicken salad, reuben,... HER RESPONSE: "The food is prepared individually. It doesnt matter what you order. The wait is the same." Poor Customer Service, Understaffed or Poorly Trained Personnel. Who takes 25 minutes to make a sandwich??? Went there today. So happy to see it was packed. The server was gracious and seated us instead of making us wait the 30-45 in the crowded front. He checked on us and brought us water as we waited in their lovely garden in the back, where little peppers, tomatoes and a citrus tree make up the lovely garden. The food as always was worth all the wait. Such fresh ingredients, you can tell the family owned and run business does not cut corners when it comes to the quality of the food they dish out. Lastly, the home made pastries are not something you will ever experience if it came from a supermarket box. GoDonna, you nailed it with the Gluten Free, Dulce Deleche Cream Cookies. Found this place on Yelp and decided to stop on the way to San Antonio. It's an "order at the counter and wait for your food to be delivered" restaurant. The menu is hot and cold sandwiches, quiche, and burgers. Some soups, I tried the butternut poblano - great consistency, but could have used some more flavor. My husband had the meatloaf hot sandwich and it was awesome! Nice big size, and the flavor was delicious. Cole slaw as the side, nice flavor to the coleslaw, not a lot of mayonnaise. He liked it. It was a Friday night, they had live music and the place was pretty full. It was about a 40-minute wait for our food, but it didn't seem that long because there was so much to keep you occupied.
