EDIT: Aside from the nonsense described below, the customer service rep apparently DID NOT record my new address, which I gave her on the phone yesterday. She even confirmed that I would like her to update my address, I said yes, and then I received a call from the delivery driver this morning checking that my address is my old address (he was outside of my old apartment)! Seriously, wtf? This service is useful and convenient, but the customer service is TERRIBLE. The rep I dealt with seemed unable to answer simple clarification questions without a huge amount of attitude and bizarre miscommunications. When she picked up, I told her that I can't log in to my account because password reset emails never arrive (and aren't in my spam folder, or anywhere else), so can I please just schedule to have my stuff dropped off over the phone? She puts me on hold immediately, and then returns to ask me HOW I WANT MY PASSWORD RESET. I'm like, no, I don't care about that...I want my stuff back, can I schedule that on the phone? She puts me on hold again. Then she comes back and says, "OK, when do you want it?" I ask, "When can I have drop-off? Can you give me some time slots?" She tells me "6-8" tomorrow (Sunday) is available, so I say yes, assuming that means 6-8pm (it didn't). Then she asks me about whether I would like to have the driver wait 20 minutes or schedule bin pick-up for later, and I ask how much it would cost to have the bins picked up later. It's $17, so I pick that option. Then she tells me that I can schedule that online or via phone. I ask if I can't just schedule this later bin pick-up on the phone with her right now, and she gets confused and starts condescendingly "clarifying" about whether I am saying that I want my bins with my stuff in them scheduled later (instead of tomorrow). No, why would I be saying that, when we were just talking about scheduling empty bin pick-up?? And why doesn't it make sense to her that I want to schedule for ya'll to pick up my empty bins while we're on the phone right now, instead of having to repeat this nonsensical process all over again tomorrow or next week? Then she walks through the time slots, and when I stop her to clarify when she says that my stuff will be dropped off between 6-8 AM (because I originally thought she meant 6-8pm), she interrupts me to start repeating the whole spiel, instead of just listening to my simple question for 2 seconds. What the eff? Please hire some better reps. read more

So, after major frustration last week, RedBin came through with a right on-time delivery Sunday. And my driver Jose was friendly, efficient, and very helpful. For him, 5 stars without question. I'm still unsure about the overall RedBin service, though. And if my issues were merely resolved on a one-off basis from being the squeaky wheel, or if it will truly be a smoother process moving forward, and I just got a dud of a customer service rep initially. This review is based upon 3 separate experiences with red bin. 1) Initial delivery attempt: I scheduled a delivery from 4-6pm on a Friday. The night before, I was contacted by red bin to see if I could move my window to the morning (8-10am). I agreed but only on the condition that I be the first stop, since I needed to be to work by 9am and I was accommodating their request. They agreed to this, no issues noted. The next morning, by 9am I had not heard from them. I called and they explained that there was a window before mine and the drivers were behind. I waited at my house until 10am (late for work) and still no driver. They kept me updated but I could no longer wait around. I rescheduled. 2) Second delivery attempt: I scheduled a delivery for a Saturday morning between 8am-10am. At 9am I get a text telling me they the service is running 1-2 hours behind due to the marathon. I called and spoke with Stuart who heard my plea for the fact that the first attempt was an epic failure. The driver showed up at 11:50 - thanks Stuart! But, it was still a frustrating experience. 3) Pick up attempt: No one showed up during my window from 6-8pm and I did not received any communications. I called customer service but "all operators were busy" and I did not get through at all that evening. At 10:59pm I got a call that the red bin driver was at my door. Sorry, I did not sit at my apartment for 5 hours waiting for him to show up with no information on what was happening. I was initially charged a $25 "missed pickup" fee but I did speak with Debbie in customer service the next morning who refunded the amount (thank you!). *Update: I have now spoken to Tom, a founder of the company. He was extremely apologetic and was honest that my experience was confusing to him, as well. The customer service (beyond delivery/pickup) continues to impress me and I've updated to 3 stars. Depending on how the rest of my service goes, I will continue to update, accordingly. I understand that new businesses will run into initial hiccups so I will continue to give them a chance to prove themselves to the rating they currently have on Yelp. Wow do I love Red Bin Storage! (http://www.redbin.com/). My husband and I had recently got rid of our storage unit when we brought his grandmother's dining room table back into the apartment. I tried to throw out a majority of the additional stuff but there were things I just couldn't part with. So the apartment was "busting at the seams " with all the new items I had to find a home for in our 725 sq ft co-op with 2 small closets. Red Bin to the rescue ! I signed up online and it was very easy to create an account. They suggest 4 bins to start with a 3 month committment ($5 per bin, per month = $60 initial payment). I scheduled my pick - up time for 6-8am a few days later and my pick up the following morning. (Delivery and Pick -up are free !). I loved the fact that they texted me to let me know that my driver was on the his way to drop off my bins and I could track his location- which gave me time to grab a cup of coffee before he arrived. The driver was very pleasant and professional. I was so excited to receive my bins I started packing right away- very quickly filling up all my bins for pick up the next morning. The pick up driver was also just as polite and both drivers are former veterans - one marine and one army. He took a picture of each bin which is uploaded to your account so you remember what you stored in each one. All in all, an amazing and fiscally reasonable service! The delivery men and women are so friendly - today Carlyne was my pick up person and she was on time, warm and friendly and was incredibly quick and efficient. And that's typical. If you need storage and do not want to drive, go with these guys. They bring you empty bins and either you can fill them up immediately or they would come back at later date to pick it up. The reviews speak for themselves. Everyone I have interacted has been great. I chatted with customer service before placing order for bins. These were delivered a week ago. Carlyne, one of their drivers, she just picked up the filled bins. She was great, she took pictures of top of bin , explained me the process and took the bins to storage. I can track the stuff and order back all or part of bins and they would deliver it (haven't used that yet). Also order one more empty bin than your estimate, they will take back the empty bin if you dint use it. I do need to check the refund been processed for the extra one ! read more

Brilliant idea! I ordered the bins on line and got them delivered right on time. The driver that came to pick them up was very friendly, snapped the pictures and that's it! My experience has been entirely positive. The drop-off was scheduled for 6-8. I got notified via email and text that the driver is on his way at 6:50, they arrived at 7.30 and I was all set by 7:40. I am so pleased with this service. Tonight Jose came to drop off my boxes and wait whilst I repacked them. He was friendly and was patiently waiting as I unpack and repacked my stuff. The service overall as a New Yorker, is invaluable. It is so easy to store my things that won't be used for a while and then call them back when the time is right. I was enjoying this service until October 2018 when they raised the price of their bins to $7 a bin) and November 2018 when they introduced a 3 bin minimum even though I only had 2 bins. I received no notice/email communication of this change. I had to audit my bank statements to discover this. I wanted to put things in storage and forget about them until I needed them again. I'm extremely relieved and want to shout to out the excellent customer service I received from AnnMarie who was helpful and communicative throughout the entire process. I've added one star for them recovering my belongings but am not boosting this rating to 4 stars due to the fact that my bin was misplaced to begin with. I thought that they didn't serve my Manhattan neighbourhood or places in the Bronx, but I am happily mistaken. When the company learned that I couldn't schedule a pick-up on their website based on my zip code, the manager contacted me and let me know that RedBin serves ALL areas in NYC. Sometimes the zip codes haven't all been entered into their online system. I followed up on this info by making a quick call to their office and now it looks like I'm all set, which is great. So, if you're having trouble booking online because of your zip code, try giving them a call. read more

I LOVE RedBin! With New York apartments space is tight, and I don't have a lot of closet space. I'm an artist with a lot of supplies, and I have accumulated a lot that I was so tired of having to live with it and trip over it each day. RedBin was exactly what I needed--much more affordable and convenient than a regular storage unit. Now, when I work on a project, I can request exactly which box that has the tools I need! The online inventory/photo system is perfect for that. The drivers are always very friendly and helpful and always arrive on time. Today, my drivers were Carlyne and Jon and they were super friendly--especially for an early morning on a very chilly day!! I only wish they had a cheaper option for storing luggage. I have one suitcase that's taking up space that is almost exactly the same size as a RedBin, but to store it is $25/month. I know that's still very affordable, but considering the boxes are only $5, I wish they could store it for less. Overall, I love RedBin and I've been recommending it to all of my friends! read more

I thought RedBin was great, until I got [some of] my items back. They came to drop the boxes off on time, pick up was on time. All was well and then they forgot a box when they dropped it off. I have now been following up via email for 3 months for my ~$300 worth of shoes, kitchen supplies, and personal items that were in my box and have had no resolution. The contact given to me takes a very long time to respond to me, and I've called many times asking to speak with a manager and have never received a call back. If you care about the items you're storing, I'd be wary to use RedBin after this experience. read more

So convenient. John just came and picked up 11 bins from me. He was fast, careful, and polite. I originally was only going to use 6 bins but I severely underestimated my space requirements. John happily provided five more empty bins and waited while I quickly packed up. I'm leaving new York for a few months and won't have an apartment, and redbin made it so much easier to deal with all my stuff. My only complaint is that about half the bins I got were very dusty, so I had to clean them out first. John assured me that this was a prior customer and not the warehouse, so it's not that big of a deal but they should probably have been washed first. I was supposed to get my bins today from them between 12-2pm. Still waiting. Never retuned my calls, e-mails, or text. How unprofessional! They raised the prices on me which why I am getting my things out of storage. It wasn't so bad when they were located in Brooklyn where I was able to get my belongings but they moved their facility to Mount Vernon where it is impossible for me to get there without a car. With Redbin, you get what you pay for (which is to say, not much). I was a student looking for cheap storage during the summer and a friend recommended this company. My pickup encounter with them was fine. The drivers have always been nice and helpful. The customer service (which consists of a woman named Debbie) is HORRIBLE. First, they only deliver one of my bins. Their website is confusing and there is no way to choose to deliver all of the bins, so you must email them (which I was not aware of this first time). They charge me a fee to redeliver the rest and I received some very condescending messages from Debbie. Since they are by far the cheapest storage I could find in New York, I decided to use them a second time. I scheduled a delivery A MONTH IN ADVANCE and emailed them 3 times with my address, the time and date of delivery, and a request to deliver all the bins. They text me asking to move my delivery date, and I texted back saying that would not work and emailed to confirm this (I never received a response). Then, a day before my delivery, I am informed that my bins will be delivered between 6-8am, even though I chose the 4-6pm delivery slot. I contact Redbin (re: Debbie) and we go back and forth. Basically, a screw up on their end scheduled me for the wrong time slot and the 4-6pm time slot doesn't even exist! I tell her that my flight does not land until 2:20pm, so the driver will have to wait until 4pm when I arrive at my apartment. She confirms this over the phone. My plane lands at 2pm and I immediately receive a phone call saying the driver is at my apartment! He was very nice and, luckily, was able to leave the bins in the lobby (this is not typically allowed, so I got lucky). Overall, the website is confusing (and apparently ignored by management) and the customer service is rude and sends odd correspondence, if you can even get in contact with them. After reading some other reviews, I'm just thankful all of my stuff was returned. As I said before, the drivers have always been kind and helpful and deserve credit. But if you can pay more for storage, it is by far worth it (especially since they've raised the delivery fee and storage price to $7 a month). BEWARE! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. It had been nothing but a hassle. I had such high hopes for this company. Now I have moved to NJ, just outside the city and RedBin does not deliver to my address. So, now my only option is to rent a car and drive out to their warehouse in Brooklyn to retrieve my items. I am closer to Brooklyn in my new apartment than I was in my old one and they STILL don't deliver to my new area. Seems silly right? On top of all of the other issues I had with delivery, having my pictures uploaded, being charged incorrectly and waiting entirely too long for a refund, there is no way I could ever use this company or recommend them to anyone. Overall, its a great concept and very practical and affordable living in Manhattan. Unfortunately, its not all good. Pros: Good service - got a live person on chat on a weekend, the driver came and delivered the bins exactly on time and I received several texts updating me on the status. The fact that they deliver and pick up is a HUGE plus over conventional storage. Cons: On their website, they list the bins as holding ~3 cubic feet of space per bin (27" x 17" x 12"). However, turns out this is inaccurate. The bins on the outside are only 25 inches long (which is irrelevant, since the inside dimensions are what matter) and on the inside they are 21-23" (the sides are not straight, so bottom is narrower than top). Width is ~13 inches (not 17") and depth is 12" as stated. When you calculate what that actually works out to, its only just over 2 cubic feet of space per bin. They say on their website that most people underestimate the number of bins they need - of course they do! The information we are given when we sign up is off by 33%! So, if you have 2.2 cubic feet of things to store, one would assume you need LESS than 1 bin = $5. But, it turns out you would really need 2 bins = $10 = double the cost you are led to believe...so just be prepared to use more bins and pay more than you expected. In the end, living in cramped apartment in Manhattan and not owning a car, it is still the best option around. Its just not as clear and transparent as I would like. read more

I saw RedBin on a subway ad, and after some light internet detective-work, I made the leap. They have absolutely delivered in all aspects of their work. I ordered 4 bins from redbin online. I liked how I got a text from them telling me the driver was on his way. Then they sent me a link that brought me to a google maps page and I was able to track the driver like the Domino's pizza app. I liketo know when delivery drivers are coming, so this feature was very helpful to me. The driver was nice and friendly. The bins cost $6.25 each per month and the bins hold a good amount of stuff. Overall I was happy with Redbin and would recommend this service over going to self storage anyday. read more

I'm a small retailer and I have used Redbin to store product that I'm not ready to sell or is extra inventory. With the price of commercial leases in NYC I need to use every sq ft for sales space - not for storage. This is genius for me and I'm thinking about using it in my personal life for decorations, heavy coats and some terrace stuff in the winter. Jose was very helpful in getting my boxes to my room. They don't provide scissors/knives to cut the cables ties on the boxes. My boy Jose came to drop off and then the homie Jassir picked up. they are very professional and quick, even though they were super busy with all the college students moving out for the summer. Both drivers were super nice and friendly. Jose was actually 2.5 hours late, which is only reason for 4 stars, but again it was probably because of the rush of all the college kids this week so I didn't mind. Other than its all good. Jassir took pictures of each box before he zip tied and secured them. I had 8 boxes total and am very happy with my experience with this company so I will use them again when I need to!! read more

RedBin is a lifesaver! We recently moved to a one-bedroom in NYC from a two-bedroom in San Francisco that was literally twice as large, and even after trying to get rid of as much as we could before moving, we still found ourselves overstuffing closets and had some boxes that we just could not put away. Enter RedBin. I saw an ad on the subway and decided to check them out. Their website is great - very clean and user-friendly - and it's easy to schedule your drop-offs and pick-ups right through the site. I ordered 6 bins at only $5 each per month, scheduled them to be dropped off the very next day, and scheduled the pickup for a week later to give us enough time to pack them. When they were dropped off, I got so excited that I filled them immediately, and called to reschedule the pickup for the very next day. I kept a list of inventory items as I packed the bins, so we could remember exactly what's in them. RedBin also takes photos of each bin (looking down on the bin with the top open), which then are posted in your account, so even if you haven't kept a detailed inventory list yourself, it will still jog your memory as to what's in each bin. They do this right in front of you and then seal the bin with a plastic tie, so you know your stuff in secure. They keep in great communication via text and email, letting you know when your driver is en route, when your stuff has been received at the warehouse, etc. We had Jassir and Jose, who did a great job - very nice, careful and quick. You get four free roundtrip drop-off/pickups per year, and after that it's $25, so we packed away stuff that we thought we would either not need until we move into a bigger place at some point, or would only need at one particular time a year (e.g., holiday stuff, ski stuff, camping stuff, and my rollerblades which I just can't get rid of even though I haven't used them since the mid-2000s!). It's awesome to have this extra stuff out of our apartment, and I totally trust RedBin to keep my stuff safe, so I don't need to worry about it. At only $30/month for 6 large bins, it feels well worth it not to have the additional clutter in our small living space. I also like that you can upgrade at any time, so if we need to get anything else out of our apartment, we can just order more bins through their website. If you're thinking about trying a smart storage solution, don't even think about it anymore, just give RedBin a try! read more
