About a year ago I stopped in for replacement laces the worker had attitude and told me red wings does not provide replacement laces I then called the blossom hill store they provided me with brand new laces .... Then last Monday I bought new boots at blossom hill location and then today I wanted to return them to Oakland rd location and the worker mentioned I bought them at blossom hill location and that their register is not working. Just Wingin' It Iconic American brand that has been making work boots since 1905 from their home offices in eponymous Red Wing, MN. The Good: *Their boots almost have no breaking-in period like other brands. They're usually pretty comfortable from the get-go. *Still the best work boots on the market. *Customer service is good but they're severely hamstrung by the companies lack of a good product managment data base--more on that in a minute. The Meh: *Either I'm walking more--which might be the case--or their soles don't last as long as they used to. I wear mine down to the stuffing by about month nice. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *Not sure what happened but their computer database used to be reasonably efficient as they could find any boot in any size at any of their hundred of nationwide stores and get it shipped there in usually about a week. Now it's a whole kerfuffle trying to get my shoes ordered and has taken 2-3 months! And this is well-before all these supposed Covid-era "shortages." The Ugly: *Boots are no longer made in the USA™. Red Wing Boots that are made in USA are among the finest in the world for off the shelf boots. The lineman boot here is $344 plus tax. A handmade boot by White's or Wesco is $450 plus tax--this is cheap considering the work and materials that go into a handmade boot. You can get a comparable boot from Chippewa for $299 plus tax. Red Wing--you're paying for the name, but they do make an excellent American work boot (not the China made ones). The in store gentleman who helped me was very knowledgeable and professional. I was lost and in need of some new boots, I heard all about red wing through some work friends and decided to stop by. First and foremost a MONUMENTAL shout out to Cory, David and Rich. These guys freaking ROCK!!!! (steady~) Upon entering, I was greeted by both David and Cory. Cory was my main man. Answered every single one of my questions and taught me a whole slew of things about boots, boot care and things I should look out for on my boots over time. I got to try on several boots and shoes. I quite frankly fell in LOVE with their heritage line. It's a really well put together line of beautifully designed boots that are stylish, comfortable and great for work. I picked up a set of muleskin rangers, and I absolutely love them. Cory also had me try on some wool socks and they make a huge difference. The place itself is incredibly cozy with comfortable chairs. Cory even gave me a nice beverage while I poked around the shop. Overall; May you need a set of work boots, or even some nice casual wear boots, Cory and his crew will take great care of you. I'm coming back for my next set of boots for sure! read more

Red wing. This store has been my go to store for more than 10 years now. Employees have been really helpful and cordial in the past. I buy my work shoes almost every year there. Today I just felt being ignored purposedly. Been waiting for a while as another customer got helped. When my turn came the sales guy decided to " help " another customer who is already being helped. Would have been nice to have heard " be right with you sir". I decided to leave. Another guy also left the store before me. The store is too busy with that ONE remaining customer. I don't know what this cashiers problem was. But he was extremely rude to me. I was looking at the shoes and the cashier asked what we are doing. Obviously we are looking to buy some shoes. His attitude and they way he continued to speak to me was extremely unprofessional. To top it off the shoe I was waiting to try on, I never received because he kept helping other people. This actually was one of the worst customer service experiences I ever had. I'm sure this place provides better service. But with this experience, I will not be coming back. Redwing shoes are what they are so I'm not rating the shoes. The service at the Emeryville location on San Pablo is THE WORST. Due to Covid there is a max capacity of four customers. They kept me waiting outside when they were only two customers in the store. When I came in I realized it was because they have three employees sitting around making it so I could not enter the store. The man who assisted me l, who seemed to be the manager, was rude, dismissive and not helpful. I told him I was hell-bent on buying a pair of shoes at that location that day. I showed him what styles interested me (athletic and slip on) and my size. It seemed like it was a bother for him to go to the back and pull out a pair of shoes for me to try on. Not a single staff member lifted a finger to make suggestions or bring out other options. I was the only one in the store with 3 employees ( 2 sitting on the counter watching me struggle ) to find a shoe for work. He said he did not want to bring out shoes in my size and style unless I asked - meaning he would not bring out a suggestion or a recommendation for me I WALKED OUT. 97% of the shoe/boot stock at this outlet are for industrial uses. The store does have a great selection for industrial. As of May 9, 2015, this retail location stocks only 2 - 3 heritage style shoes/boots. Any loyal Red Wings Shoe owner knows the line carries a broader selection. I was not left satisfied with the refurbishment regarding the lifetime warranty of the heritage boots I took in. Leather laces were not replaced by similar kind and the "refurbishment" was poor in my opinion. The shoe polisher at an airport would have left these the boots in better refurbishment. Customer service was good. Sales associates were courteous and attentive. They do have a foot measuring device/computer system that seems accurate and interesting. read more

I work hard and I beat my work boots up badly. I've tried several brands of work boots and by far these are the most comfortable and longest lasting boots I've come across. David took good care of me. Super easy to work with and I was able to score some awesome shoes that will last. Free replacement shoe laces for life. Free leather treatments to keep the boots in great condition. I won't bother ever trying another pair of boots. Easy 5 star. Highly recommend.
