Walked in to have a couple beers and refill our growler this afternoon. The bartender suggested that he put out growler in the fridge for the meantime. We handed a nice embossed red tandem growler and got one back with stickers. We didn't notice until we got home, he probably didn't deserve the tip I left him. read more

Establishment doesn't open until later than others. Owner is a jerk. Gave 3 star review because it's a 5 star when he isn't present, and a 0 or 1 when he is. That's how we calculated our average of 3. However, don't let that prevent a visit. Establishment has TWO of the GREATEST Beer-Tenders (C and V who we tip well) and then a Good enough guy (who we tip good enough). Funny how owned doesn't seem to comprehend that. They allow and accommodate dogs, and some are obviously regulars. As noted above, don't like owner. He lacks social skills and good customer service and management awareness and knowledge. He has no problem insulting staff when customers COMPLIMENT staff. (Who does that? What kind of person/manager has the underlying, incessant need to be contradictory or insulting to the employee when receiving a compliment about an employee? What kind of "manager" degrades the employee and insults the loyal, established customer who purchases several and often? That should provide significant information to other customers.) Only visit when good or great Beer tender working, and won't visit when owner is working. Just left for that reason. No sales or growler refills for the ****! (Didn't host party there for that reason.) Beer is good and consistent. Enjoy the flights! Love the C-hag and double C-hag (IPA or double-IPA). Go for the beer. Leave for the owner. read more

We are 15 year residents of shores , but raising two young men and college we did not have s chance to visit our local brewery . My wife and I totally enjoyed tasting floats and service was awesome . Very cool hangout. We rent a beach house at Mandalay shores and we ride our bikes to this brewery. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. It is a very small brewery and they allow dogs inside since they don't have food. Lots of games to play and decent pizza joint next door read more

Shout out to owners Mark and his wife. Good people and good business neighbors. We were on a family camping trip down the road at McGrath State Beach and had stopped by this location to pick up pizzas from Red Tandem's next door business. Me and my camp buddy just wandered next door while waiting when Mark saw us and invited us in for - wait for it... a FREE beer. Who does that anymore these days? He poured us each a glass of his finest and we hung out while waiting for our pizzas. If we didn't have to get the food back to camp we would have stayed all night. What a great thing and awesome people! Wishing Red Tandem great success! Our entire beer drinking crew will be rollin in next time we're close by. First time to this brewery. To be honest the space felt like a converted dry cleaners. The atmosphere was lame and just didn't feel inviting. The beer selection was ok about 6-7 beers on tap. The pint i chose was $10!!! I have been to my fair share of brewery's and this was among the crappiest. Save your $$$ go Von's grab a 6-pack and go to the beach, skip this place and catch a sunset... Honestly would come here everyday if I could. Pretty solid selection of beer. They brew in house and care about the work they do.

This was another one of my groupon adventures. We found it just by searching in their app for a brewery. How lucky were we to find it? It is a small place in a strip mall located next to a pizza place that will deliver to you if you are drinking here. The owner is such an awesome and enthusiastic guy. You could tell he loved what he was doing and really wanted true feedback on his beers. I got a flight and liked all of the different flavors and styles that I selected. We drove up to hike Point Magu in Malibu and since we were already out that way with 1hr drive back we decided to check out some of the local brewery scene. Enter Red Tandum. Nice, standard selection of beers. Very satisfied with service and all the beer taste great! They have a few jars of "help yourself" snacks however, there have a BYF policy and there is a Subway, donut shop and Pizza shop next door ( FYI Pizza spot is cash only but the liquor store at the end of the strip mall has a $1.75 fee) read more

I guess technically, I travelled the farthest distance of anybody so far to go here. I had to travel from the east coast on business, and was in LA so a friend of mine, suggested we meet at the Red Tandem. The owner Mark met me when I first arrived and suggested a flight of 7 beers. Some beer is a matter of taste but I found them all enjoyable. Fresh, clear, cold. Mark takes a lot of pride in his business and clearly knew all the customers. I didn't have too much time to stay, but I noticed they had card games at the tables and a couch setup for socializing. It got a little slow and the owner offered me a tour and an explanation of how the process works. They don't have a kitchen but with a pizza shop next door, I ordered a Meatball sandwich and they delivered it to me at the brewery. When I'm next in LA, I will be sure to drive up the PCH and have a beer at the Red Tandem. read more

This place is in my neighborhood and it's so awesome to have a brewery/bar nearby that isn't a dive bar. It's clean inside and there are games to play. The beer is decent and cheap. It's nice that you can order a sampler as well. There's usually a good amount of people in there so the atmosphere is great. Also there is a pizza place next-door and it's always nice to have pizza and beer. My only critique is that it would be great if they still sold wine. read more

Awesome little neighborhood micro brewery which I recommend to all my friends visiting me here in Oxnard beach area. they have just the right amount of variety of beers all brewed in-house! Their double IPA is my fav. No food, but you can bring in your own food or order from pizza joint next door and they'll deliver it to you at the pub! I'm always happy to try a new brewery, but this place has a long way to go. I can get over it being in a strip mall,the size and the shady looking homeless dudes out front, but I can't get over the beer. As a brewer myself I try to give new breweries a chance and not rate them poorly, but some of the beers they were producing were undrinkable (and it takes a lot for me to not finish a beer). Hopefully Red Tandem really looks into stepping up their brewing game because they're going to be one of the few failures in this craft brew craze if they don't. read more

This place is really trying...but with all the other breweries I've visited in SB, Ventura, SF, San Diego and other states, I feel they have a lot of room for improvement. The price is right (and there's free pretzel snacks!) and I'm sure if I lived in the neighborhood I would visit often but I won't be going out of my way to get here. read more
