I placed the order online and my food was ready at the pick up time that was quoted. The food was equally as good as the downtown location. The chicken tips are just so good. I waited a while to place this review for a few reasons…read more For starters, this restaurant is in my neighborhood, and I wanted to give it a good fighting chance. Matteson needed a win with places to eat. Though it is take- out, I was confident that due to it being BBQ (and a popular name was attached), it was destined to be a winner winner, rib tip dinner. I could speak on the slow opening and the place having ribs and then no ribs on the menu at all. NOPE. Because sometimes, new places need a chance to work things out. LET's TALK ABOUT IT ALL! I know what you wanna hear... "WHAT IS THE MEAT LIKE!?!" lol I have ordered here 5 times, just to be certain what I would say when I decided to review this place. First time I placed an order, I almost cried. It was like I wanted some bbq, and I needed it to be good. I needed it to be all I ever wanted and needed and in my back yard. I pinched myself to make sure it was real! lol Issue: I wasn't a HUGE fan of the sauce. But I could live with that, as it wasn't HORRIBLE. Portion size was nice, meat tender. I was able to have leftovers, for like $21 bucks. Solid win! But did I mention the FRIED CHICKEN WINGS!? I promise, someone's auntie is in the kitchen cooking them and she isn't playing around in there! No sauce needed. Plain is yum! Fresh, crispy, and down right YES AND AMEN!!! Second time I placed and order, majority of the meat was sketchy. The pieces were hard to chew, and welp...what more could be done. I tried to eat it as best I could. Majority of it was tossed in the trash. Did I get more chicken wings you ask? OF COURSE I DID!! DELICIOUSNESS! lol Now, one might ask, why did you return a third time? Reasons: Its in Matteson, I live in Matteson, I wanted BBQ, the price is nice, the wait times aren't HORRIBLE AT ALL, and its pretty smooth sailing. Pay online or via electronic payment inside...No hiccups there. And ITS IN MY VILLAGE. lol I knew there was improvement on the horizon. Every time I went after the second time, was deliciousness. I didn't have any hard pieces. I was even able to warm the meat up the following day and it was still as good as the first time. Have I mentioned the CHICKEN WINGSSSSSSSS!??? Look! Welcome to the neighborhood Wilma's Express BBQ! My family and I are pleased you are here. I am a repeat customer for sure. I truly believe things will continue to get better, so give this space some grace. WE DESERVE BBQ! lol And I am happy you all are here. You don't have to take my word, as always....GO GET YOU SOME!

It's like a honey mustard mixed with a bbq and I would get it again. The snobby q was also very good. I do like the Buffalo lemon pepper, however, it's just a little bit too spicy for me personally. Neither of us liked the garlic Parmesan, it was lacking flavor and was definitely the least favorite. Fries were good. You can get them with sauce or a dry rub. Service was good. I will return. This location has never missed the sauces, I always get them when I add it to my order. The wings are always perfectly coated in their sauces, and the staff is always pretty kind when I come in to pick up my order. I'd also like to make an honorable mention that the food is always neatly placed in the bags, and the bag is always sealed with a sticker. This is perfect. Today I actually ordered at the register, and the woman read back my order not only as I was telling her what I wanted, but after it was all complete too! She triple checked that she placed in the order as I asked. Portillos does this at their drive thru, and it's an amazing reassurance for the customers. It's always pretty cold inside which is actually nice, because it's summer and I've never been in a colder restaurant before! The inside is always kept clean, especially their drinks station. The only thing I always find odd about this location is that they don't have a garbage can, so if you eat inside you have to throw away your garbage outside, which is shared by the neighboring Dunkin. For a Matteson restaurant, it's sure well polished! Clean, has a kind crew, and well managed.

It felt like zero care was put into preparing the food properly. What made it even worse was the customer service. I called to let them know about the issue and asked for a simple exchange. That's not even close to half, which felt dishonest and like they were just trying to get more money out of me.
