I am on a quest to find my go to Chinese place.I have one but I am looking for an alternative just in case they are closed for some reason. I saw this place on Tik Tok and knew I had to give it a try. I actually have driven pass this place several times. I drove to the location on a Saturday and it was kinda of busy. When I walked in there were a few people waiting. I noticed that they no longer allowed people to dine in. The place does look like it does need a little updating. I was greeted when I walked up even though it was one person at the register taking orders, answering the phone and passing out orders. I ordered Beef Fried Rice, Beef Egg Foo Yung which is my normal order anywhere and on Tik Tok The lady suggested getting Garlic sauce which I did. The Fried Rice and Egg Foo Yung had plenty of meat in it and it was flavorful. The garlic sauce was okay and I feel like It wasn't something I had to have in order to make it better. Price point was average. Overall, It was okay not better than my original spot but I would come back. read more

I don't know what kind of chicken this was but it was slimy and when I bit the meat it was not anything like I've had before. The vegetables were in some kind of soup that I just couldn't do. The shrimp and chicken egg rolls I had were the best I've ever tasted. They weren't very hot when I received them, so I think they may have forgotten about my order since they were busy. The service is always cordial and friendly. I don't think they offer in-house dining because of COVID-19. I've only tried their egg rolls, but the restaurant is usually busy whenever I visit. I live in Skokie, Illinois, which is quite far from this restaurant, and that's the only reason I haven't tried their other dishes. I was back home visiting and wanted to have my siblings, nephews and son share space and dinner so we ordered from here. I LOVE their authentic egg rolls (you know the ones where you can taste the flavorful cooked cabbage). The BEST lunch specials I've ever seen! The portions of food are so generous for the price and each special comes with a delicious egg roll! I am extremely selective about crab Rangoon and if I enjoy everything but they have sub par crab Rangoon, odds are I won't go back. But liangs has the perfect mix of sweet (but not too sweet) and crunchy (& not scratch your gums crunchy) ! They also make my Kung Poa the perfect level of spicy, the lo mein noodles are like a buttery heaven, & the complimentary fried rice is always piping hot after delivery. But today's experience pushed me to finally speak up publicly -- not just for myself, but for the many others in the community who have shared similar stories. I placed my usual order and politely asked if the cook could mix the extra bean sprouts and green onions into the dish instead of piling them on top -- something that's happened the last few times. I wasn't asking for anything extra -- just to receive what I paid for, prepared in the way I've requested numerous times before. The woman who almost always takes orders (I don't know her name, but I believe she may be related to the owner, MEIC) completely disregarded me. She didn't acknowledge me as I spoke -- no eye contact, no response, nothing. When she finally did speak, she cut me off rudely, saying "they know what they're doing back there" and dismissed my concerns entirely. This wasn't just bad customer service -- it was personal disrespect. She spoke to me as if my presence and my feedback were an inconvenience. When I tried to explain that I've supported this place for over a decade, she coldly replied that it didn't matter if I came back or not. At one point, she even suggested I have "an attitude" -- which only highlights how she refuses to accept even the most respectful feedback without becoming defensive or hostile. This wasn't a busy moment. The restaurant was empty -- just the two of us -- and yet she still couldn't extend even basic decency or professionalism. She walked away mid-sentence multiple times, made no effort to engage in a human, respectful dialogue, and treated me as though I were beneath her time and energy. It's especially upsetting because 90-95% of this restaurant's patrons are African-American, and yet the pattern of disrespect toward people of color -- especially when we speak up -- is something I've seen mentioned in many other reviews. It's disheartening to feel like your loyalty and money aren't valued, and worse, that your humanity isn't either. I'm not asking for special treatment. I'm simply asking to be treated with the respect any paying customer deserves. Constructive feedback should never be met with hostility. As a long-term customer who truly wanted to continue supporting this business, I now find myself questioning if they deserve that support. I hope management reads this and takes serious action. I debated about giving this establishment a four or five star review. Because honestly, the food was not my issue or concern here. The food was actually pretty good. It had been my first time trying Chinese food out in the suburbs but when I seen NiaKay eating it like it was better than my spot in Chicago. I was left with no other choice but to give it a try. And it didn't disappoint the prices are higher than the location I go to but the food indeed her visional didn't disappoint. They were indeed neck and neck with the location I go to. My only concerns were the price and the fact that I placed a big order and received all of my food in a box. I would've been OK with my food being in a big box because it helps downsize the amount of bags that I would've had to hold, but I expected them to at least be in a bag and separated. And not saucy items just in their containers such as egg foo young. I don't like the thought off my saucy egg fo yung spilling out the container and mixing with other items in the box like my egg rolls. Or my food touching a box that said frozen raw shrimp. I have been a loyal customer of Liang's Chinese restaurant in Lansing, Il., for many years, despite their recent price increases. Lately, they have shown me that my loyalty means nothing to them. I ordered pop to go with my order several months ago. When the delivery arrived, the pop was not there. There was never an offer to deliver it separately, even though I am only 5 minutes away. A credit was promised that I never got. Today I ordered $36 worth of food and drink, but the dessert that I ordered and paid for (because they no longer give fortune cookies with their orders) was not there. The money is not the real problem. It is the disrespect. I called and asked that they come back with the balance of my order at some point during the day, and I was refused. We called May, who I believe is the owner, and she said it probably came from the cleaning sponge. We've been going there at least 10 years. Our son had his high school graduation lunch there. The egg drop soup tasted like most everybody elses but came in a gigantic container. The egg roll was deep fried and big. They included plastic silverware, lots of different dipping sauces and 2 fortune cookies. My experience was that this place should have higher reviews.
