First time here. One of my cousin's recommended us to order some chicken wings. Small location located in a strip mall. Prices were ok. I ordered the 4 piece chicken with dinner. Our food was cooked fresh and the wings were a decent size. The lady behind the counter was friendly and greeted us with a nice warm smile. The menu has a variety types of food you can order. They also have a selection of desserts as well.

I really like their fried chicken. Their fish is good but I regularly get chicken. They have a huge variety of different foods.

The service was good but the food was not. Bought shrimp and chicken. ‍ just beware that these soul food restaurants are not all that.

I ordered a gyro from here and the tzatziki sauce tasted like straight mayonnaise. Disgusting. Never coming back here for that.

This black owned business has above average standing room in the waiting area, two TVs and an ATM with a good amount of seats/benches. Seems like it might've been an old chinese food joint with a few tables, but they opted for a pure takeout experience (which is unfortunately the trend nowadays.) Since it was my first time I thought I'd try both the fish and chicken combo along with the dirty rice. The total came out to be $24 with the wait being about 15 minutes. The staff overall were nice.      After leaving the place and checking the food. I realized that the combo dinner didn't contain a roll and coleslaw like advertised which was kind of disappointing. It did have the fries though. The requested lemon pepper was there, but they also seasoned the chicken/catfish with garlic powder, salt and parsley which is fine. Everything was fried hard, but not dry which creates the perfect pleasurable crunch. The chicken and fish tasted better than a lot of the restaurants in the area with the fish having a lightness to the breading that's sorely missed. Some of the chicken was weirdly tough though as if it was slightly undercooked.      Speaking of misses we have to talk about the dirty rice. Dirty rice is one of those dishes that seems like it either is absolute perfection or an abomination with no in-between. This unfortunately falls into the latter with it not only looking boring with all brown notes, but the initial taste as well as texture being an off putting creamy rancid trip to flavor hell. After a just a few bites my stomach turned which does not bode well for this dish. I have no idea what went wrong here, but it seems like it may have been sitting out too long. Even the smell was a bit rancid. At least it has a good ratio of ground beef to rice which a lot of places skimp on. They also attempted to add in some vegetables like peppers although they are barely noticeable.       Overall Surf's up is a good spot with friendly staff, decent prices, but some issues with quality. My advice is to make sure the cooking temps are correct and consistent. Definitely make sure if food is sitting idle, that it is kept at the mandatory minimum of 140 degrees farenheit to avoid it going rancid so quickly. Also, double check the orders before sending them out or edit the menu if it is outdated.

The staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful, and the food was good hot and fresh and packaged up…read morewith care not just thrown in a container and bagged. Will definitely go back!

I ordered the lake perch fish hush puppies with fries and coleslaw and the Order of mozzarella cheese sticks I must say the customer service to young lady gave was phenomenal she was very helpful but once I got home and starting my food I noticed that my fish was overcooked fried exceptionally way too hard it was almost Beyond edible and it didn't taste at all that fresh maybe I came on a bad day but definitely that fish was not fresh nor was it seasoned I've have had better fish honestly at J&J and sharks the hush puppies was good mozzarella cheese stick was okay and the fries was not often at fries but I think they used the fries that's made by potato product which most restaurants do unless they cut their own fries fresh overall the prices was decent the customer service was great I may give it another try another day another time truly really did wanted to give him more stars than what I did but the food just wouldn't like me

There doesn't seem to be any included fries (although he offered crackers.) Fish is battered and fried fresh. Took about five minutes to deep fry and get it to me. Comes out perfectly dry and the oil looks/tastes clean for the most part. They have a few homemade sauces as well (don't think they have tartar, just BBQ, hotsauce and mild sauce.) The sauces themselves are nothing to write home about. Should honestly be getting more business than they do especially since the guy working there is pretty chill.

You'll find yourself paying $40 for a drink and $25 for a plate of seafood. It can seem backwards compared to a steak house or what not. The vibes are great on weekends catching a mariachi group coming in offering to play songs for money. And even if you don't pay for play, someone might and you can enjoy a song. I still don't know or even asked if they use fresh water or salt water shrimp. Most places like this use fresh water but charge salt water prices(you just have to ask/hopefully they're honest). The shrimp empanadas were ok. I wouldn't order again. The paella is alright nothing to brag about and very soggy. The champuzon was ok. Some parts of the octopus was really rubbery(as id expect is probably frozen). Oysters just do not smell the best. Overall, not my worse place. I'd say stop by try it. Do not have the highest expectations. Be cautious of what you order in mind of freshness. Sauces/salsas were good.
