Came in on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It was packed Christmas decorations all around felt very festive in here. Got a maple old fashioned it had some sweetness but wasn't cloyingly sweet. Second drink was a bacon Manhattan. Made me think about 10 years ago when Bacon was really big. They call it hog hattan. Opened up with the chicken Caesar salad. The chicken on the salad was warm like it was in the oven. The pizza bread is nice touch. They also offer bell pepper as part of welcoming relish tray. Just made me think about ordering an Italian beef. The pork chops sounded tempting but ultimately ended up going with a NY strip for my entree. It was cooked how I like nice and rare. Double baked potatoes one of those steakhouse dishes when you see on the menu you just have to order. Closed it down with some cheesecake topped offed with some berries. The appetizers here is good as I ordered the baked clams and fired calamari. Only place that offers you a open face pizza bread. we ordered some entrees hoping it was just as awesome as the appetizers. The Linguini and clams was overly saucy and more like alfredo and noodles. We arrived right at the reservation time and was seated right away, the restaurant was busy. The waitress was very nice and informative. We got the sirloin tips and shrimp cocktail for appetizers, top notch. Our first time going to Ken's was last Friday when my family tried to celebrate my 80th birthday with me. The entire evening was challenging to say the least. We had reservations for 7 people at 6:30 p m. We arrived on time, but hostess didn't seem to realize we needed enough seating to accommodate us, so before we realized it, we were seated at a booth for 6, instead. Unfortunately, staff didn't know how to change it. Ambiance was nonexistent. The noise was VERY loud, which made us constantly on repeat because we couldn't hear each other. The waitress was MIA most of the time. After a 20 minute wait to order drinks, it took 20-30 minutes for them to be served 2 at a time! What, no trays??? More LONG wait times to order food, get appetizers, then (tick tick...tick tock) soups and salads, and FINALLY our entrees with sides (which, of course were warm at best)! We were able to "encourage" a busboy stop to refill our water carafe, else we would have did it ourselves. None of us were ever asked if we wanted drink refills...coffee, tea, aperitif after dinner? My God, you're dreaming. I have a severe wheat allergy, so we were told it was ok to bring my b'day cake. We needed to remind the waitress a few times after the meal to please bring it. Again, a long wait to have the cake brought to table, unboxed, cut and served. I'll always remember my 80th birthday dinner. No, no, no, not for the food or lack of service at Ken's on Western. My memories will be filled with the love, laughter and joy of family and friends who helped turn what could have been the worst birthday into this old gal's best ever 80th! If you decide to go to Ken's on Western, remember to bring lots of patience with you. Next year back to Jack Gibbons in Oak Forest where they actually care about their patrons. read more

Going there for years until recently. While they've nicely updated in recent times, their service has slid. Never had a complaint with the food or drink, always top notch, but once a push waitress tried to push us out, saying, in classless fashion, that they need the table. Only on the south side. Another time, the waitress was just off, packing to another table, not knowing when you order a bottle of Caymus you pour for a taste first. She didn't relay the specials to us either. Service is just not what it used to be. When I complained management said they'd deal with it, but I'm afraid to go back. Why bother? read more

The First Experience We had a reservation for a certain time. We were told it would be a couple minutes. We were told to find a seat at the already packed bar. (I'm on crutches and no seats available). Okay, no problem, its just a couple minutes. 25 minutes later we were sat. We were brought water and silverware. No server came up to us. 10 minutes later the host comes us to us and says she needs us to move so she can sit a bigger party there. We obliged, was a little embarrassing as I was already struggling to move around being on crutches. We get to the next table, there is food spilled all over the floor around the table. It was their pasta dish they bring out to you. I couldn't even get around it so we asked for it to be taken care of. 2 minutes later of us just standing by the table we can't sit at, it was cleaned up. Eventually, like 15 minutes later, a server (possibly manager, not sure) came to us, and said "Do you want drinks or not?". We then ordered our soda's. She came back with them and said "Okay what will you have". We weren't ready yet, still looking. Food Order We ordered the filet mignon and the lobster tail. When we received it, the Filet was burnt. The sear was just to long and it was literally burnt. My lobster tail was rubber. We waited for 10 minutes or so for someone to finally come near our table. The lobster wasn't edible, but we did consume the Filet due to just being hungry. We cut off the burnt part. I explained the lobster to the person and she said, okay I'll have another made for you. Respectively so, it took about 20 minutes, maybe more for another to be brought. I wasn't offered anything to hold me over nothing. Fine, that's not this restaurants style. When the lobster tail was finally brought out, it was just placed in front of me and the lady ran off. It was also like rubber. Not sure what is going on here. I push it to the side and we wait again for another 15 minutes or so, and I finally get our servers attention and explain is the same as the first. Like rubber. Ken's on Western's Resolution The server took my 2nd lobster tail and apologized. She then brough us our bill. We were billed for lobster. I literally cried. Never done that before. When she came back so we can pay, we asked her to remove it because I didn't consume it due to being rubbery. she stated "We don't have anyone here who can override this. I don't manage on Monday's so I can't do any overrides. I just have to run your card for the full amount and then my manager will call you in the morning to refund it.". This was 2 weeks ago and we still don't have a call or our refund. This was an $85 charge for something that wasn't edible. My experience was absolutely awful. I hope this isn't how it is all over Chicago, I was visiting the area, I'm from another state. Anyways, they are a popular spot, it was busy and they have decent reviews. Just don't expect anything to get resolved if they have bad service or bad food. read more

I'm sorry it took us so long to finally try Ken's On Western. We had an extra evening. Great service from Amy even when it got unexpectedly crowded. The lamb and orange roughy we ordered were delicious. Nailed the pink on the inside of the lamb chops. The orange roughy was light and full. I live in the area but never visited Ken's. This place was wonderful. Business was booming. I was seated maybe ten minutes after my reservation but I did grab a couple of seats at the bar where I enjoyed an Old Fashioned. Table was great. It's small but not to the point where you are hearing other people's conversations. Two entrees, New York strip and crab stuffed shrimp, were phenomenal. A couple bottles of Pinot Grigio plus a huge piece of cheesecake for desert left me completely satisfied. Live piano player in the bar. This place is old school cool. I will return. read more

Recently Celebrated our friend's birthday. There's a reason why Kens has stood the test of time. Home made Mozzarella sticks were so yummy. I was in the mood for a steak and not in the mood to drive, so I did a did a google search for steak in my area. I found this place and decided to give it a try. The service was awesome and the ambiance was too. The food, however, was AWFUL. I ordered a 7 oz filet, medium well. There was nothing pink on that steak, but there were spots that were charred. I've had better steak at outback. The side potato was dry too. Overall it was an expensive disappointment - I should have followed my first mind and driven downtime. read more

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Everything we ate was great. From the complimentary food, to the appetizers, to the entrees. I don't know what they use for the cucumbers and peppers, they pass out, but it was SOOOOO GOOD! I was taken aback, and couldn't stop eating it. We had the oysters for appetizers, and my table agreed they were also really good. For the entree, what I had was a chef special for that day. It was the crab stuffed salmon, with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Very filling and tasty. My sister and I enjoyed our meal immensely. Also, another one of my sisters had a chicken dish (I'm sorry I forgot what it was), I tasted that too and it was also good. Just overall a pleasant experience. Ken's on Western is great! I went with a large party for a friend's birthday (about 20 people) and everyone had a great experience. The service was great! Everyone's order was 100% correct which doesn't always happen with large parties. The food was very tasty, and the portions sizes are HUGE! All entrees come with a number of complemtary appetizers (pizza bread, pickled bell peppers, potato salad, and a veggie tray). Next, I had the calimari as an appetizer and the batter was very light and it was fried with just right. For my entree, I had the chicken tortellini with a vodka sauce, and it was great. Because of all the appetizers I was full by the time my food came so I ended up taking most of it home. Ordered filet mignon--food was cold--especially the mashed potatoes. Server, although kind, neglected to "sell" me anything. Told her it was my birthday--no reaction at all. Didn't even run down the 'specials of the day' to me. And this $9 slice of carrot cake: IT'S STALE. I'm so incredibly disappointed. read more

Anyone considering bringing their small kids to Ken's, DO IT!!! We dined here Oct. 22 2021 and it was the first time taking both my kids, ages 1 & 2.5, to a restaurant so I was very anxious and nervous of how the whole experience would go. I had been to Ken's in the past and had a great meal and service. Well this time in particular blew me away. Everyoen from the hostess, waitress and bus servers were friendly, kind, and full of smiles. I would say my kids behaved, but don't we all say that about our kids lol. But the staff sat us promptly without a reservation, got two high chairs and crayons and paper to entertain the kids. We ordered for the kids immediately and food came quick, this gave the adults a buffer to enjoy a drink while the kids ate. I just can not thank Ken's enough for the great service and hospitality. If you've never been, please go and don't be nervous about brining the littles :) read more

There's not a whole lot of higher end restaurants in Beverly, so it's good to see another one there for special occasions. I know my family has been there many times but i went for the first time last week. Pretty good beer list, some craft staples. For food I got the baked orange roughy, my first time having roughy, but it was very soft and moist and good. I ordered it with pub chips and minestrone soup, both good. Everyone else seemed to get some sort of steak, which looked good, but I was in the mood for some fish. I'm sure I'll be back as it's become a go to spot for my family read more
