I understand they may have been busier than normal the Sunday I was there but I will say I's been a long time since I was that disappointed with a meal we were able to walk in a find a table but it took a long time to be acknowledged and get any type of service. Then getting coffee refills was pathetic and the breakfast was not served as ordered (eggs way over cooked) and the omelettes were both full of bones and grizzle. It was very disappointing. After reading all the positive reviews, I expected this to be an awesome place for breakfast. Excruciating slow service, no attention to coffee refill, and an arithmetic error on our ticket, worked out to the low review. Not one of my favorite experiences to say the least. read more

The hash browns I was served were old, possibly from earlier this morning or even yesterday. The poached eggs were perfect and the toast was good. My partner thought they ordered a buttermilk pancake, but ended up with a bran pancake? Coffee was a shade away from water. They did not make a good showing, so I will take my business down the road. read more

My sister from San Diego and I (Seattle) were in Enterprise visiting our other sister who lives there for a sibling reunion. The three of us went to the Red Rooster Cafe for breakfast on Sunday (05/26/13). It was fabulous!. All of our dishes were delicious and the service was wonderful. One sister and I had the two Egg's Benedict dishes offered and the to other had the Johnny Cakes. We all loved our choices and shared repeatedly. It's a cheery place with great energy. I'll go back every time I'm in this gorgeous corner of the world. It was a memorable breakfast experience and I recommend it greatly. I just wish they were in Seattle! read more

It's a secret recipe, ( I tried to get it, what do they DO?), I can only tell you that they grind their flour fresh.A classic, authentic, charming small town diner, with roomy booths, friendly staff, large windows, an open kitchen, and a vintage feel. It's a homey, welcoming place, but not cluttered or cutsey, we saw authentic cowboys at the counter--with excellent food, large servings, lots of home made fare. Stopped at Red Rooster for breakfast after camping at Wallowa Lake. I had the Philly scramble. The steak was tasty as were the eggs and potatoes. Nice and healthy (big) portions. Even the toast with (real) jelly was yummy. Most importantly though, the service was stupendous. The place was busy and only staffed by a single waitress and she didn't miss a beat as she hurried from table to table, greeting the regulars by name and not leaving a coffee cup empty. She was also as sweet as can be with an absolutely radiant smile that lit up the whole joint. read more

Fantastic food! They roast their own turkey, smoke their own pork, and grind their own grains to name just a few examples of how everything is made from scratch. Consequently, their bread is amazing and you have to get the Jonny cakes! Do not visit the Wallowas without stopping here! read more

Amazing food. Great service. Incredibly fresh and homemade. All the bread was made from scratch and even the jam was homemade from mixed berries. We had a large group (4 couples and a bunch of kids) and everyone loved their food. The only downside is that they don't accept credit cards. I do not understand why any restaurant in this day and age would risk losing a ton of customers just to save a small percentage. Thankfully, I had some cash on me - which almost never happens. Hash browns were great, toast with blackberry jam was fantastic. Great meal to start a big day. Only disappointment was that I ordered tea and the water was not super hot.
