I have been a very satisfied client since 2002. Vivi, Kelly, Nana and Old Man are like family. Many times after my services are done I will hangout for the fun of it. And, it's in my local neighborhood.

Although the gel manicure was pretty good, I've had better.

Although the gel manicure I got was pretty well done, the customer service was TERRIBLE. No one greeted my mother and I when we came in, and that is a huge turn off for me. Also, there was a dog running around the store, may have been the owners but regardless that workplace should not allow pets. To top it off, one of the technicians kept swatting flies and once he hit one he left it on the floor..he did not even bother to pick it up, GROSS! Would I go back? Probably not.

Upon entry, there is an off-putting smell and something told me I should leave as it was weird and strong. I inquired about a builder gel manicure and the guy had his content on his phone blaring and the lady across the room stop working on a client to chime in. He showed me the list of services they offer and I had a seat. I had a pale pink on and wanted clear and he said he'd file it down so that it would e no issue. The station seemed cluttered and no effort applied to remove the debris from filing and the last person serviced. The builder gel seemed clumpy when he applied it and I expressed my concern that I didn't want my nails to appear thick and clumped. He reassured me he'd take care of it. When removing the previous gel where it had lifted, he didn't smooth it and it could be seen when he thought he was finished. I had asked that he not use the drill on my actual nail as it damages them and at that point, you'll have to cut your nails and start over. After he was yelling across the room to his coworker, she comes over to take a look and told me that she said the color would show through. I had no issues parking with the color but it looked like spider webs in the nail where he hadn't filed it flat enough before applying new gel. I really dislike when a person asks me something and then you get two people talking over me. I reminded them both that I heard them out completely and stated how I wanted to proceed and I wouldn't be up-charged because he doesn't take pride in his work. I keep referring to the guy as "him" because there was no warmth in this interaction at all and no names exchanged. She asked if I'd be ok with wearing a sheer color vice clear to avoid starting all over. He did one nail to allow me to see and I agreed. I cannot and will not visit this location or recommend them to others. This place came as a recommendation from the guy at European Wax Center who had his nails done here. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out but I paid and tipped and left quietly despite their hollow "See you next time" as I was leaving. Determined to not put out or receive bad vibes, I kept it ladylike and kept it moving. Plenty of areas for improvement but you first have to give a damn, him & her don't.

I first thought they were located in the shopping center but it's actually across the street. Was greeted upon entering and sat immediately. Everyone was welcoming and friendly to me... I was a little nervous from reading previous reviews until I saw my FOODIE BFF SISTAAa also stamped this shop in a previous POSITIVE review that she posted :))) *Whoooooo-saaaaaa* I'm happy with the way Lisa did my nails. So much, I decided to get a pedicure too :))) This could definitely be my go to shop for a day of self care- not to mention I came at the perfect time because the only one being serviced was me. Lisa even grabbed my socks and put them back on after she dried off my feet! And I guess she appreciated her tip because she gave me the biggest hug as I was leaving :) I will definitely come back here. Somethings you just have to experience for yourself ;-) Happy Yelping! :)))

Most relaxing nail appointment I've ever had! I did not once feel the stressful -get in & get out-…read morehustle that I've always experienced at nail salons. This place was beautiful, calm, clean, and super friendly. Ken did exactly what I asked for, and the other staff all seemed just as great. I will definitely be back!

I was a customer for about 5 months. No problem with dip powder until I decided to try the gel set…read morecalled "Tiana Collection" As Ken started the set, I noticed a burning sensation after the 2nd nail was done. I let him know it was burning and suggested he lower the UV light that he used to set the gel. He mentioned that the light only had 1 setting and that he couldn't change it. As he continued, I suggested to move the heated UV lamp further away from my nail bed as the temperature and position he had it in was burning my nail bed. I mentioned this as a reminder several times. When I got home that evening, I had to take Tylenol and add ice to my nails to sooth the burning sensation. At this point, I was concerned because the burning radiated from my fingers up my arms. Went the at shop opened, I contacted Ken to let him know what happened. He had me come in to remove the gel. I also asked for compensation, at least a percentage of my money back or have him do dip set later. Jennifer told me they took the gel set off, and took time doing my nails, so there was no compensation or refund of any kind. I suggested to file an insurance claim as this was an injury due to a product they provided. She told me insurance will not pay for it and she didn't see whether I deserved a refund. I have never experienced this sort of hospitality or service at any nail salon. I came here as a referral from a coworker. While still getting familiar with this area, I thought this place would offer great service. If you are thinking of getting nails done at here, be aware because it's not about customer service it's more about money for them. I always wondered why fee for services changed often when I got the same thing each time. Hidden fees no consideration for how they treat their customers. Deluxe pedi and gel with 2 horrible nail designs totaled - $145 and still burning from lamp. Go someplace else. UPDATE: Several hours later, Jennifer, the owner, left me a voicemail asking me to call her back. I returned the call believing she might offer an apology, discount, or some form of resolution. Instead, the conversation focused on my review and why I had posted it. She reiterated that because I chose the service, I was not entitled to any compensation. When I suggested continuing the discussion after she finished with her customer, she declined and continued explaining why she would not provide a refund, discount, or credit. This entire experience was disappointing. Mistakes and adverse reactions can happen, but what stood out to me was being told, "I'm not going to argue with you," when I was simply expressing surprise and concern about what had happened. I was not arguing at all, and the comment felt dismissive. I was left wondering whether I was being treated differently, possibly because I am an African American woman. Regardless of the reason, I did not feel heard or respected during the conversation. Reactions can happen, but how a business responds to a customer who has been injured or harmed by a service says a lot about its values. Unfortunately, I felt dismissed, blamed, and left without any Potential customers should be aware of my experience and make their own informed decision. Wow

I gave this location 3 stars (really a 2.5 but I'm rounding up). I so wanted to like this place,…read moreit's in a convenient shopping mall for anyone who is in the Upper Marlboro, MD area. The building itself is nice but the customer service is lacking. This was my first time here and I generally like to introduce myself to the person Im receiving services. I worked with Michelle. She wasn't overly friendly but we did have a little small talk in the beginning. I received a gel manicure and regular pedicure. The service itself was just ... ok. Seemed very rushed and if I spend on the upper part of $80+ for my nails I would like my hands to look really nice.

Why do people continue to patronize this business? It boggles me…read more Piss poor customer service. Piss poor technique. Lack of color selection (actual colors of quality, that last and have high pigment) Lack of talent. From properly fitting a nail enhancement to painting. Just No. I'm convinced that the people that keep showing up here are either in desperate need of service or they know no better. I've tried Nick (back row, far left chair) , the older gentleman that sits next to the owner (woman with glasses on the left upon entry) and the women who sits to the right of Nick. The woman who sits to the right of Nick was probably the best in terms of technique and kindness (though it's very hard to understand her). She has a calmness about her that's welcoming whereas everyone else treats you like you're an inconvenience cause they hate their job. Nick is too emotional. Acts like a pre-teen. And thinks he more talented than what he is. See @nailcandyshop in Columbia, MD if you truly want to meet folks on trend and educated in the nail space My most recent experience was horrific. I had an appt at 3pm. Last minute emergency. Nick rushed through my pedicure and did a HORRIFIC paint job. And no, that's not glare on the toes--it's dips, grooves, foot dryness, uneven painting, uneven filing, uneven color.....just bad. I told him I couldn't walk out of there with my feet looking like that. He said it would be an additional $30 to take the color off. Keep in mind it has not had a top coat and been cured. He said my only option was to pick another color to put on top. Just to be clear--he's suggesting $95 cause he did a bad job. After he put another color on top and cured it, he refused any additional service but refused to say that directly. He said "someone else will do your nails." When questioned why because the appt was made and all services were noted, he said "take your complaints to the owner." He handled it like his 11 year old child. He walked away. He said "I gave you water." Which had nothing to do with the topic. Proceed with caution because these aren't cheap services ...cheap in delivery but not cheap cost. They want to charge $65 for a MEDIOCRE (at best) sugar pedi with gel polish. The saddest part....they gaslight you, all of a sudden don't understand English and make you feel like you're wrong for not wanting bad service. I don't know about you, but I don't have time to fight with service providers that don't care about the end product. Especially when there's a nail salon on every corner. There is a huge lack of customer appreciation and I'm shocked so many people patronize this place when J2 in Clinton is so much better (just to name one of many). It's NEVER too bad to have to spend money here. Think long and hard before you do!!!

It shouldn't be this hard to get, and keep my nails done…read more Most of the nail technicians in here are (artistically) talented, however it's SO HARD to make an appointment. I have shared my concerns with the owner and asked her to implement an online scheduling system. She expressed reservations due to the fact that customers may not know what they want, booking one service online and then coming in expecting another. It's a shame to have such a valuable and sought-after product, but simultaneously making it so difficult for customers to get their hands on that product. Booking an appointment has become somewhat of a guessing game. I give them a date and a time of my desired appointment. They tell me that my preferred nail tech is not available, but NEVER say UNTIL WHEN. So I throw out another date. Same thing: Not available. On and on it goes. Instead of providing me with options (namely, telling me the next available date for my preferred nail tech, or other nail techs who have availability at that same day and time), they repeat what they don't have available, or ask me to blindly pick another nail tech that I've never worked with (I don't even know their names because I've never worked with them, so how can I be expected to pick them?). So I'm expected to be both psychic and memorize the roster of the staff here... Just to get an appointment?! In order to book appointments I had to call multiple times over multiple days until someone was able to give me enough information to book an appointment, reach out to the owner on Instagram, and even drive all the way to the nail salon.... JUST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I tried to make an appointment prior to the holidays before everything got booked up. Myself and another customer stood in line for at least 20 minutes in a practically empty nail salon while the owner's mother did someone's nails before she finally addressed us. Even then, she only handed us a register paper and told us to write down what services we wanted and when we wanted to come in, telling us that someone would call us to confirm (which never happened, by the way). We could have saved a lot of time if she had just asked us to do that and leave the paper on the counter while she finished her customer. After waiting 3 days, I finally called the salon and was told that they did not have my appointment request. Not surprising, given that it was scribbled on a piece of receipt paper that was given to me. Somebody probably threw away thinking that it was trash without following up. I tried to book my next two appointments to avoid this headache and was told that in order to book an appointment with my preferred nail tech, I now have to follow her on social media and DM her to try to book an appointment with her there. REALLY?! Instead of scraps of paper, or having to stalk somebody on Instagram, why not keep an old school appointment book, or even one online? It's really not that hard. These nail techs are also not great with time management. Many of my appointments have had to be rescheduled... For the middle of my work day. (Thank goodness for remote work) One of the (now former) nail techs completely forgot about my appointment and passed me off to somebody else without even acknowledging me or her oversight. Another nail tech pressured me into making an appointment earlier than I wanted, only for her to show up 45 minutes after the appointed time. No phone call, no update, no communication whatsoever. Just me sitting there wondering if this was another canceled appointment that they forgot to communicate to me. I say "another" because I had an appointment with the same technician that she canceled, but the salon did not leave me a message to let me know. The only way I found out is because I wanted to add something onto my existing appointment and when I called the salon, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because that person decided not to work that day. In addition to horrendous time management and the hoops you have to jump through to get an appointment, the nail retention is also poor... And ultimately that's why I chose to get my services done elsewhere. Like I said, artistically some of these nail techs do a good job, but in terms of actual quality of work... Not so much. I tried to make it work, because finding a new nail salon can be a pain. However, I started experiencing substantial lifting of my nails after practically every appointment. At one point, I even developed nail fungus under my acrylic, which one of the nail techs ignored completely and just covered with acrylic, and another who tried to tell me "That's not nail fungus, it's bacteria". Whatever it is, it's not supposed to be under my nails... And it wouldn't be if the work was done correctly. Aesthetically, this is one of the nicer looking nail salons in the area, but looks are deceiving. This salon presents a lot of challenges from a booking, customer service, and quality of work perspective.

Good pics on Yelp, poor communication and treatment/ hospitality…read more. I called to schedule an appointment to ensure they had time for me and they answered yes. I walked in, was rushed to pick a color instead of greeted. Said I could grab some water, which was nice. The mumbling in Viet started as soon as I sat down, could really make you feel out of place. (Just because someone doesn't know the language doesn't mean they don't hear the tone and can pick up on context.) Cut me twice, apologized, and a couple other hiccups that I won't bother to mention. She lightened up throughout time, but I may have to give it a second thought before going again.. I still tipped well because the actual nails came out good. (My total ~$96.00)Not to my like, as she was not easy to tell what I wanted done. Lady came in right to the end of my service with an appointment, and needed to get acetone removed from her hands that lady doing my nails had wrapped in foil and said, "excuse me- can you--" (I'm sure her hands were either hurting or were uncomfortable), and lady doing my nails interrupted her loudly in front of the whole salon, to say she's almost done with me. I felt terrible for her since she had an appointment on top of that. The fact that there's a lot of competitors for you (Nova nails) should push you to improve in timing and care with how you talk to clients and be careful about what you say you can and can not do for a service. I'm still looking for a place that is both well at communicating with clients, and has the skill set for an awesome set. Please remember to treat people kindly. How you make someone feel is really important.
