I will keep it short and sweet - Now I like Star Nails, but they aren't the best when it comes to time management & priority. I have had a few instances when I have made an appointment and they didn't necessarily take it into consideration when figuring out what client was next in line. Ugh! The shop is small and quiet. It is kind of a hole in the wall but they are very clean and professional. The girl who does eyebrows is a freaking GOD! She is absolutely amazing. And I love going to Lisa or Donna because they are always consistent and hook my nails up! Their prices are very reasonable as well. Star Nails is a get in and get out type of place. If you are looking for luxury and pampering, I would not suggest Star Nails, but if you need a quick fill or pedi, I would say they are perfect for you but you got to get in the chair first & that is sometimes a wait, sigh! Haha. Favs: The girl who does eyebrows and my nails ALWAYS look perfect Would Change: Maybe invest in a remodel and honor appointments before walk ins

Do not, I repeat DO NOT get your eyebrows done here. I'm not even going to draw this review out. The service has fallen way off and now I have to spend the next couple of months filling in my eyebrows until they grow back.

If you come ask for Donna. She a real nail technician. everyone else is just okay.

They claim to open at 9 on Saturdays, but every time I arrive at 9 it's jam packed. Ask for Donna for your pedi and/or fill. Mary is really good too. Overall the salon is clean and kid friendly too. The seats in the waiting are not the most comfortable.

Need I say more. Went for a gel nail manicure and this is what it looks like after completion.

Terrible! I went for a gel nail manicure and left with lumpy thick nails. The gel polish even under my nails. The technician was extremely rough causing my thumb to bleed. I went back the next day to explain I wasn't happy with the service and I was told "it looks fine". Never again!! Please go to another nail shop ladies and gents.

Do NOT waste your time here…read more The pedicure? Fine. Not great, not terrible. Adequate. The full set was the worst nail experience of my life. I asked for short almond nails and got a confused stare -- I should've walked out right then. Instead, the tech yelled across the salon in another language, and someone yelled back that the service was $70. Loud enough that three other customers turned to stare at me. I was still in my work clothes, having left two hours early to squeeze this in before full mommy-mode weekend duty. I stayed anyway. Big mistake. She glued the tips on crooked -- sticking straight out instead of curving naturally. Filed them into random shapes and sizes. Zoned out every time I asked her to fix something. I gave up on gel and red tips and settled for clear polish just to escape and fix it somewhere else later. I should've asked for her license. I should've left when they yelled the price across the room. I should've left a dozen times. Instead I sat there, fixing my own cuticles and rubbing in my own lotion, just to get a barely passable basic set. Worst salon I've ever stepped into. Raggedy awning, dusty front desk, dust-caked acrylic display untouched for who knows how long. If they don't care about their own shop, why would they care about my nails? Lesson learned: some businesses don't exist to serve you well -- they exist to take your $100 while you're just trying to steal an hour of "self-care" before going back to taking care of everyone else.

Upon entry, there is an off-putting smell and something told me I should leave as it was weird and strong. I inquired about a builder gel manicure and the guy had his content on his phone blaring and the lady across the room stop working on a client to chime in. He showed me the list of services they offer and I had a seat. I had a pale pink on and wanted clear and he said he'd file it down so that it would e no issue. The station seemed cluttered and no effort applied to remove the debris from filing and the last person serviced. The builder gel seemed clumpy when he applied it and I expressed my concern that I didn't want my nails to appear thick and clumped. He reassured me he'd take care of it. When removing the previous gel where it had lifted, he didn't smooth it and it could be seen when he thought he was finished. I had asked that he not use the drill on my actual nail as it damages them and at that point, you'll have to cut your nails and start over. After he was yelling across the room to his coworker, she comes over to take a look and told me that she said the color would show through. I had no issues parking with the color but it looked like spider webs in the nail where he hadn't filed it flat enough before applying new gel. I really dislike when a person asks me something and then you get two people talking over me. I reminded them both that I heard them out completely and stated how I wanted to proceed and I wouldn't be up-charged because he doesn't take pride in his work. I keep referring to the guy as "him" because there was no warmth in this interaction at all and no names exchanged. She asked if I'd be ok with wearing a sheer color vice clear to avoid starting all over. He did one nail to allow me to see and I agreed. I cannot and will not visit this location or recommend them to others. This place came as a recommendation from the guy at European Wax Center who had his nails done here. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out but I paid and tipped and left quietly despite their hollow "See you next time" as I was leaving. Determined to not put out or receive bad vibes, I kept it ladylike and kept it moving. Plenty of areas for improvement but you first have to give a damn, him & her don't.

I decide to try somewhere new for a mani pedi, because my usual spot couldn't accommodate me the…read morelast few times I tried. Now, I could have made a specific appointment or plan ahead, but these things tend to be spontaneous for me. I walked into this place, and they weren't ready at the moment but asked me to come back in about 40 minutes, which was not a problem because I was hungry and needed to get food anyway. They were only two people working in there, and both seemed really nice. And they were using Amazon music to play some amazing tunes. Amazon music is my jam! I didn't get the name of the person, but it was a relaxing experience overall. The temperature was perfect for my feet, but it was extra extra foamy. It wasn't a problem for me personally, but I felt bad about it getting on the seats, it came that high haha. And here I liked that I didn't have to move to a table for the manicure portion! It made it truly feel like a spa experience. The job was great, but later on I realized that some cuticles were handled a little more roughly than others. But she said she was having some serious pain with her hands. Hope she feels better! Anyways, I would return, because I overall like the vibe of this place better than my usual spot.

It shouldn't be this hard to get, and keep my nails done…read more Most of the nail technicians in here are (artistically) talented, however it's SO HARD to make an appointment. I have shared my concerns with the owner and asked her to implement an online scheduling system. She expressed reservations due to the fact that customers may not know what they want, booking one service online and then coming in expecting another. It's a shame to have such a valuable and sought-after product, but simultaneously making it so difficult for customers to get their hands on that product. Booking an appointment has become somewhat of a guessing game. I give them a date and a time of my desired appointment. They tell me that my preferred nail tech is not available, but NEVER say UNTIL WHEN. So I throw out another date. Same thing: Not available. On and on it goes. Instead of providing me with options (namely, telling me the next available date for my preferred nail tech, or other nail techs who have availability at that same day and time), they repeat what they don't have available, or ask me to blindly pick another nail tech that I've never worked with (I don't even know their names because I've never worked with them, so how can I be expected to pick them?). So I'm expected to be both psychic and memorize the roster of the staff here... Just to get an appointment?! In order to book appointments I had to call multiple times over multiple days until someone was able to give me enough information to book an appointment, reach out to the owner on Instagram, and even drive all the way to the nail salon.... JUST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I tried to make an appointment prior to the holidays before everything got booked up. Myself and another customer stood in line for at least 20 minutes in a practically empty nail salon while the owner's mother did someone's nails before she finally addressed us. Even then, she only handed us a register paper and told us to write down what services we wanted and when we wanted to come in, telling us that someone would call us to confirm (which never happened, by the way). We could have saved a lot of time if she had just asked us to do that and leave the paper on the counter while she finished her customer. After waiting 3 days, I finally called the salon and was told that they did not have my appointment request. Not surprising, given that it was scribbled on a piece of receipt paper that was given to me. Somebody probably threw away thinking that it was trash without following up. I tried to book my next two appointments to avoid this headache and was told that in order to book an appointment with my preferred nail tech, I now have to follow her on social media and DM her to try to book an appointment with her there. REALLY?! Instead of scraps of paper, or having to stalk somebody on Instagram, why not keep an old school appointment book, or even one online? It's really not that hard. These nail techs are also not great with time management. Many of my appointments have had to be rescheduled... For the middle of my work day. (Thank goodness for remote work) One of the (now former) nail techs completely forgot about my appointment and passed me off to somebody else without even acknowledging me or her oversight. Another nail tech pressured me into making an appointment earlier than I wanted, only for her to show up 45 minutes after the appointed time. No phone call, no update, no communication whatsoever. Just me sitting there wondering if this was another canceled appointment that they forgot to communicate to me. I say "another" because I had an appointment with the same technician that she canceled, but the salon did not leave me a message to let me know. The only way I found out is because I wanted to add something onto my existing appointment and when I called the salon, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because that person decided not to work that day. In addition to horrendous time management and the hoops you have to jump through to get an appointment, the nail retention is also poor... And ultimately that's why I chose to get my services done elsewhere. Like I said, artistically some of these nail techs do a good job, but in terms of actual quality of work... Not so much. I tried to make it work, because finding a new nail salon can be a pain. However, I started experiencing substantial lifting of my nails after practically every appointment. At one point, I even developed nail fungus under my acrylic, which one of the nail techs ignored completely and just covered with acrylic, and another who tried to tell me "That's not nail fungus, it's bacteria". Whatever it is, it's not supposed to be under my nails... And it wouldn't be if the work was done correctly. Aesthetically, this is one of the nicer looking nail salons in the area, but looks are deceiving. This salon presents a lot of challenges from a booking, customer service, and quality of work perspective.
