Hi all, I ordered shrimp pad Thai via Uber. I consumed some shrimp and pad Thai noodles. The next day I became severely ill and was horrible vomiting that required hospitalization. I reported this to the Montgomery health department and they did an inspection that next week. The report came back that the pad Thai noodles were not stored heated or cool and proper temperatures. Rat and rodent feces on surface of kitchen and they cooler is broke. This place is filthy. This was the worst food poising I have ever experienced. I sent a letter to this establishment and no response and when called a woman (I presuming the owners wife) she hung up. Don't eat here, just don't read more

Shoutout to our local community heroes! We called ahead and we glad to know that there was indoor seating! We were glad to hear that they had a their own parking spaces in the lot behind the building. It's a busy area, so this parking lot is a treasure! The entrance at the back is perfect! The venue is beautiful! Clean! Full bar and sushi station! We had a party of 6 and the venue accommodations were perfect. We came early enough to beat the dinner crowd, so I can't testify to the wait time later in the day. But just call and check on accommodations. The staff is attentive and efficient! The food comes out fairly quick and the sushi is beautiful. The pork Katsu was crunchy and savory! The yummy ginger dressing on the salad is just like I like it! The miso soup is palate cleansing and light. We had hot tea with the choice of green tea or jasmine. For dessert we had mango sticky rice which was delicious. I think the mangoes are sweeter and softer at times, but this was still nice. Not too sweet and a good way to end the meal. Afterwards the parking lot was pretty full. first time coming here, I ordered take out. I ordered the chicken dumplings (fried) and the Thai curry chicken with white rice. The dumplings were good, I think steamed would be better because the chicken was alittle dry inside the fried. The thai curry chicken is... not going to be something I order again, it's not good. I will try other things though I will not completely write them off. The Thai curry chicken lacks flavor, it's quite watery; I like the white rice it came with, it's more flavorful than the Thai curry chicken. I have an ok review because the dumplings were tasty, just dry. But the Thai curry chicken, no thank you! the restaurant has a nice menu so maybe I just ordered wrong for my first visit. read more

I have eaten at Red Maple for the past 4 years but I will certainly never order food from this location again. I've never had a single bad experience at their other store but today I had the most low quality sushi I have ever had and for $80, I was more than disappointed. The eel avocado roll I ordered was full of pin bones. How do you not have the attention to detail to make sure that the eel is deboned? The yellowtail hand roll was even worse. It wasn't the beautiful light and slightly firm fish that I love. Instead it was full of stringy long pieces of fat that I physically could not bite through and it was super dark brownish red and mushy. It was absolutely disgusting and I have never seen any yellowtail like this in sushi ever. Do yourself a favor go to the other location, or better yet find another place. I wanted to try this restaurant because of the great reviews and pictures of the food! However, I wasn't too impressed with my experience. The food, was average, at best; and, the service was sub-par. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with Shrimp. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but the dish itself wasn't spectacular. There are better Thai restaurants to get great Drunken Noodles. My daughter ordered the Shrimp Tempura Roll. She said it was great... Keep in mind, that's coming from a 10-year old. Our waiter didn't ask us how we enjoyed the food, nor did he ask to refill my drink when I was clearly almost done with it. I actually got a new tender (behind the bar) who was working there since the gov't furlough so he was new, but very nice. It took an hour to drive 6 miles yet it was worth it. Nice interior decor, the server was on time & point & after a full review of the menu, we placed our order. As soon as the Appetizers; Veggie Spring Rolls & Seaweed Salad hit the table, our Server said the entrees would be right out. That they were, as in minutes the General Tso Chicken & Salmon Sesame, was placed in front of us. OMGEESH, my Salmon dish was AMAZING! The Salmon was lightly battered & fried to perfection & tossed in just the right amount of Sesame sauce. Since I negated the rice, the Chef was generous with providing me with extra steamed Broccoli...the best Chinese Salmon dish I've tried thus far, PERIOD. My friend's General Tso entree looked delicious as well, in which was consumed in all of minutes. There's a sleek bar with 2 TV's, a well spacious Sushi Bar & the dinning area is enormous. I've driven by Red Maple probably thousands of times, but never had the courage to try it, given its rather difficult seeming entry and exit. Having had it recommended, I decided to bite the bullet and negotiate their parking -- and found it a lot simpler than I expected. It definitely has a pretty dull exterior, and I was expecting a rather basic sushi restaurant. However, there's a lot more to it. I ordered my standard sushi go to, chirashi, which is a mixture of sashimi on a bed of rice. With it, I also got an octopus sashimi and a striped bass sashimi. The octopus was fantastic, with great texture and bursting with flavour. The striped bass was good, but it felt like it had been out a little while -- the meat was a little mushy. The chirashi was similarly quite good, but maybe just a little past its prime, particularly the tamagoyaki, which was just too sweet for my taste. It was good, it was passable, it just wasn't fantastic, particularly given the price. Overall, it was a good experience, and they apparently do delivery through Uber Eats. Let's just say that this restaurant is a pleasant surprise in Four Corners. Not only is it clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated...but the food is delicious! I've tried their Maki, Cali, Dragon, Philly, Cucumber, Boston, Spider, and Rainbow rolls. The fish is fresh EVERY single time. I've never experienced an "off" day here, and even converted a few people into sushi eaters! The crispy duck roll is also delicious and comes with a sweet/salty sauce that's perfect for dipping. If you're feeling unadventurous then go for miso soup or coconut shrimp. My only "complaint"? The prices. They're a bit steep (other places charge you $2.5/$3.00 for 2 pieces of sushi, but for this place it's the going rate for 1). This place is located in sort of an odd spot off of Colesville rd so it is easy to drive by, but definitely stop in to give this place a try! I'm glad I did because it has become one of my go to spots in silver spring! For apps, their sexy jalapeño is bomb and comes with a honey wasabi drizzled on top that is *chefs kiss*. For mains, they have great sushi. All of their special rolls are large, delicious, and super filling at a good price point. I've also had their bento box (also huge) and their vegetarian curry. A friend of mine tried their shrimp curry, which we both loved! I have frequented this restaurant many times. Pros: lots of options, delicious asian food (sushi, fresh sashimi, thai and chinese dishes), quality food, good price for serving size, clean, good service Cons: parking in back is tight but not impossible I take the kids here and there are enough options for vegetarians, pescatarians, and carnivores. Picky eaters can even find something they would like. You can ask for trainers to help use chopsticks if you need. The kids have collected several colors and I remind them to bring it each time since they are plastic and we don't like to be wasteful. The drink options are delicious (thai tea!). Haven't ordered anything at the bar, but appears to be well stocked. Highly recommend this place. Polite staff, food comes out timely, & staff isn't hoovering over you. We get sushi here several times per month - my favorites are the tuna amazing roll, rainbow roll and spicy tuna roll (spicy tuna with tempura bits). I stopped in here for lunch with my dad yesterday. We shared the beef satay which was grilled on skewers with a tasty slightly spicy dipping sauce - very good. He got the chicken and broccoli lunch special and I got the drunken noodles lunch special. The chicken and broccoli had a tasty rich brown sauce. The drunken noodle with shrimp had a light tangy sauce. I would definitely order both again. The lunch special is an excellent deal! For 7.50 you get a soup or salad, egg roll and lunch portion of an entree with rice. Great value for great food! We also took a three roll combo to go (11$ for three rolls - which were all fresh and tasty!). Love this place! read more

The food here is very good. The decor is basic. The reason I am posting is because I would like to go back for the food, but I keep thinking about how filthy the mens restroom was. I don't think it has been washed ever. By ever I mean not since it was built. I would guess the mens restroom has not been cleaned in minimum 5 years. The sink had caked on grime a half an inch thick, same with floor and toilet area. Seems like an easy fix but some business owners are lazy, cheap or both. I hope the kitchen isn't this dirty!!! Please do a service to your customers and pay for a deep cleaning of your business. I am gagging thinking about how dirty the restroom was. read more

I'm not here to hate on Red Maple, I've eaten there at least 30 times in the past 10 years. They have good sushi rolls (I especially like the Rock n Roll) and my family likes the fried rice. The problem is in the past few months the food just has no flavor -- and no this isn't a COVID thing, I can currently taste and smell just fine. I've had Mongolian Beef, Dumplings, Pork Katsu, General Tso Chicken and a couple other things, and it's all just ... boring. I'm probably going to keep eating there but if you're looking for something new and exciting then, sadly, I can't currently recommend Red Maple. read more

One of those questionable on the outside, amazing, high quality sushi on the inside kind of places - don't let the old school building and tattered exterior turn you off from trying Red Maple. We came here on a Sunday night, craving sushi and a mix of Asian food. There was a huge line just for carryout (i guess this place is popular for that as well). It took a while for us to get seated as it looked like there was only one person working that night for a restaurant full of people (but kudos to the guy who was running around seating people, taking orders, and cleaning tables). The interior was nicely decorated, with hanging lights and there was a lot of space so that you're not shoulder to shoulder with other people (which is what a lot of sushi places tend to do). We ordered the Love Boat and Mongolian beef to start while we waited for the sushi boat. The mongolian beef was your typical Chinese, fast food, panda express-esque dish and really was nothing to write home about. BUT WOW - when our sushi boat arrived, we were surprised by how much sashimi and rolls it came with (for $65, it seemed like a steal)! It was decorated so beautifully and there was so much attention to detail on the placement of each item. The fish as unbelievably fresh, tender, and flavorful and the rolls were jam packed, full of flavor as well. It was like a piece of art and I truly appreciated each item that was on the boat. Also, this is perfect if you're with someone who isn't too big of a fan of sashimi as there is a wide variety of rolls that come with it! Overall, really looking forward to coming back here for their sushi - some of the most flavorful and quality sashimi I have had so far. As far as sushi, I LOVE the Rock N' Roll- could eat 3 of them. My sushi is always fresh and flavorful, they are quick too. I sometimes get the Spicy Tuna Tacos too- a great blend of my fav elements (fresh tuna, guac, spicy mayo, fish eggs). They're a bit tangy but in a good way. My friend and I met half way here at Red Maple, it was my first time ever coming here. Definitely don't let the exterior scare you off because the interior is gorgeous and the food was great! My friend and I spent a lot of time catching up and not enough time perusing the menu, so I definitely appreciate that the waiter was attentive, but not overbearing and came promptly when needed. We ordered the calamari to start and both got the flaming lips roll. The calamari was not what we expected, but was still good with the sweet chili dipping sauce. Warning, it's very chewy! The flaming lips roll was the best part, it has jalapenos and chili flakes, it was not spicy for either of us. It was definitely the right amount of heat and was absolutely delicious! Absolutely wild to me that this place only has a 3.5 rating. The sashimi and sushi quality at this price point in the DMV is unbeatable. People knocking it down either have poor taste or too high of expectations. The salmon and tuna sashimi are delicious. Fresh everytime -- never misses. Spicy tuna roll is an absolute must. Rock n roll is a fantastic way to mix it up. Their miso soup is hearty in the most delicate way. I stay away from the chinese/thai/asian fusion things they have going on. Tried the calamari once, very good but over priced only for a few, albeit large, pieces. The waitstaff is friendly dine in or take out (I mostly do the latter). This is all about Japanese items. so Katsudon. is suppost be katsu on the top of rice with egg sealing. nope what i got was katsu on the side of rice. with no eggs sealing. don-katsu itself was horrible, used some cheap bread crumb , no pankyo was used. neither came with Don-katsu sauce. The restaurant is huge, has a bar and modern décor. Has two entrances, but parking is in the rear entrance and was completely full. We had to park next door. We had... Seaweed Salad Spicy Scallop Spicy Tuna Salmon Avocado Yellowtail Scallion Angel Roll Seaweed salad was too fishy, overdressed and not that fresh. Sushi was good, but the spicy rolls are all just full of panko as a filler. Not worth it. Salmon Avocado & Yellowtail Scallion were the best. Prices are reasonable. We would probably come back if we really wanted sushi in the area, but definitely wouldn't order the spicy rolls unless they can make it without all the panko filling. Service was decent. Red Maple is a great space. It is beautifully decorated with lots of non-cramped seating available. The ambiance and service are pretty good. So far I have been there about 4 times and each time the food was underwhelming. The seaweed salad always tastes super fishy/funky (normally my favorite salad) and I have GOT to stop ordering it. However, I've ordered a (ridiculous) amount of times through UberEats, and I've never been disappointed! They have a great deal on their lunch specials - three rolls for about $13. I usually order their salmon rolls and eel/mango rolls. The salmon is always fresh, and the eel/mango combination is perfect! I'm not usually able to find eel/mango rolls at other places since eel/cucumber rolls are much more common. One of my other favorites is their tamago (not to get confused with their tamago sashimi, which is only slices of the tamago/egg part and no rice. I made this mistake many times lol). Even aside from their lunch specials, the sushi is very reasonably priced. Overall, they have great sushi, and I definitely recommend this place for other sushi-lovers! read more

I will not be returning!! Where to start. First, their food is pretty good however, my most recent visit has left a bad taste in my mouth. I visited Red Maple twice in the month of April. On my second visit, I ordered two shrimp tempura rolls and an order of shrimp spring rolls. I drove there in the rain because I've generally had good service and food there. Well, upon returning home, I opened my shrimp tempura rolls to discover someone's hair in my sushi!!! I called the restaurant to complain. They apologized and I said i would return the rolls the next day. They called me back 30 minutes after my call to say they were going to credit my card the price of the two rolls. I agreed and hung up. After a week passed by, and not receiving my credit, I called red maple to inquire about my refund. I asked to speak with a manager first. I was informed that there was no manager present at the time and hung up on. So I immediately called back and asked to speak to someone else. I explained the situation, and what happened to my food. The woman on the other end of the phone told me that I must be confused. When I inquired why she said I was confused, she said that I would receive a credit for next time towards a meal and not a credit to my credit card. I asked why would I need to wait for a refund when there was hair in the food. In addition, why should I have to wait when i could have ordered Chinese food from anywhere.
