When I was a little girl, I thought Red Lobster was the fanciest place to have dinner. Maybe it was in the 80's or maybe as an adult I know better?! I definitely go for the lobster when I'm there and right now it's Lobsterfest. My favorite ever is the steamed live lobster but today I wasn't feeling like putting in the work. I ordered the Lobsterfest Duo which was a Maine tail + a split Maine tail curled around sea scallops. Help. Any recommendations for great lobster in the Midwest accepted. The tails curled around scallops were overdone and plasticky. Just the Maine tail was okay but not juicy. It's the best I can get in the Midwest, I guess. Our experience was acceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. The food and drinks were cheap. The service was okay at best, our server wasn't very attentive, it took over 20 minutes to get our bottle of wine and there was no wine service/presentation what so ever, but for a $40 bottle, it was fine. It has been quite some time since my wife and I have had a meal at Red Lobster. We will not be back. Service was slow. When our meals arrived, my wife's filet mignon was undercooked. She ordered medium well and it was medium rare to rare. I ordered salmon and it was undercooked in the middle. We didn't want to send them back and wait even longer. My wife asked for a box for the steak so she could cook it to her liking at home. I ate around the uncooked portion. We were not told the salads would be an additional cost. We thought they would make a small side salad as a side. Instead, we got one side instead of two and a full salad. We ordered drinks that were on the happy hour menu for $5. We were charged $12 each for the drinks. We had the server fix the bill to reflect what is shown in their menu card on the table. Red Lobster used to be an affordable place for seafood. Our bill was $88 for two people. That is not affordable. No wonder there were few cars in the parking lot. read more

My wife and I were there for dinner. We were seated quickly but were not waited on for approximately 10 minutes. Another group of people came in and sat close to us. They were waited on before us. Our meals came before our salads arrived. When asked why we hadn't received our salads the waitress said that our meals were ready before the salads were and that she would go get them. We had a family gathering of 18 for lunch on Saturday. The waitress was fabulous. The food was very good and served in a timely manner. Went to red lobster last night for dinner because we haven't been in a while and it was well worth it. It was absolutely delicious, the food came out very quick and cooked perfectly. We also got some mixed drinks and they were made great. I got the sangria and it was probably one of the best sangrias I have ever had. The lobster punch drink was also good! Our server Dave was so great. We was helpful, kind and very attentive. If you ever decide to go here to eat ask for him and he will take great care of you. When I asked if they could turn the volume down I was told it was set by their corporate office and I was welcome to take it up with them. I'm not sure how that could have been accomplished in the 30 min or so it took me to eat but that was the only option afforded me. This was always my favorite restaurant. I brought my six kids into to eat in the afternoon while we were getting our tires changed at a nearby tire shop. I explicitly asked them would we have time to get in and get served within an hour and eat. The staff said" absolutely ." We watched three separate couples come in 15 minutes behind us get their food. I'm thinking " maybe they want to bring our food out together." We waited, and waited, and waited. We ran out of time after I had to chase someone down. I had to have them bag up every single one of our dinners to go. My kids had to eat food in the car with no utensils, napkins, or even biscuits to go. My bill was over $225.00, not counting the tip I gave the waitress. I called the manager and they are supposed to give me $50.00 when we come back in next time which is great, but we asked them explicitly if we had time. I've been going to Red Lobster for several years, it's always a decent place for seafood when your so far inland. I primarily go for the endless shrimp promotions, of which I am a huge fan of. This location is solid as far as getting good repeatable service and good quality food. Tonight I had the endless shrimp, new this year was shrimp potstickers, which were great! Fried potstickers filled with shrimp and veggies, served with a spicy sweet dipping sauce. Additionally this year the coconut shrimp are available, these are great, slightly spicy, but served with an amazing dipping sauce. Lastly, how can you go wrong with the shrimp scampi? Delicious buttery, garlic sauce served over the shrimp. Overall this is a solid choice for seafood in Central Ohio. read more

So we looked at Lancaster's location on line, find a few items that looked appealing, and choose to go there for lunch. My 74 year old friend got there first and inquired about her birthday discount and dessert option. Was told she needed a code, which she could not find in her email. Another server had a 10% off code, which they applied. Thanks. So ordering....I don't see the shrimp cocktail OR crab cake that was on the web menu. Mgr came out with condescending, joking attitude. "Sorry, I can't fix you what's not on the menu." Explains how those items have been gone for years. "What do you want me to do? I'm not in charge of what's on the web?" IDK, how about act like the manager that you are, and take care of the customers that you have- clearly the parking lot is NOT full. "How about just giving her her a birthday dessert??" It's a Red Lobster, so obviously the menu and execution are similar to the other Red Lobsters in the greater Columbus area. I usually go to the one off of Sawmill Rd two or three times a year, oftentimes for their Endless Shrimp promotion. The in-laws in Pickerington wanted to meet up for dinner though, so off we went to the Red Lobster in Lancaster for a meal. The building is typical Red Lobster, and is pretty clean. The servers are friendly. Comparatively speaking though, the refills on the "Endless" shrimp were way too slow. It's been several years since I've been to Red Lobster. This is my second time (first time was at the one off Hamilton Rd). This time it's with the whole family to celebrate my Grandma's 85th.it was a fairly crowded evening, thus a short wait to be seated was understood. Once to our table, our waiter was great - Hugh. Knew his dishes and what could be substituted. Great humor, too! We weren't rushed, either :) Besides getting the Cheese Biscuits, we tried the Lobster Artichoke and Seafood Dip. Brought it out hot right out of the oven. It's was very tasty: Just the right mix of cheese flavor and could taste the lobster. And, of course, the hot cheesy biscuits were very good. Now to the main dish. Got the Rock Island Tilapia with a sauce and lobster chunks. Came with a house salad, steamed broccoli and rice pilaf. Verdict? The fish was mushy :( Strong "frozen fish taste" - not good. The steamed green beans were perfectly prepared. The mashed potatoes, I was afraid, would have too much seasoning to them, but they were simply fine (not anything to brag about). I was not happy with the food. My spouse ordered a bowl of clam chowder. We waited an extremely long time for our food. When it arrived the server brought a plastic take-out spoon for my spouse's soup because "there weren't any clean spoons"and the server didn't want him to wait any longer. My "loaded" bake potato came with maybe, a half-teaspoon of sour cream, a couple of bacon pieces and no butter. I had to wait another 15 minutes for more sour cream. $57 with tip. I honestly can't believe it myself, but the chef at this location is superb! The crab legs are good, but my favorite is the coconut shrimp with the pina colada sauce!!! It is to die for! The rock lobster tail is pretty tasty, along with the salmon and tilapia. I'm not a fan of the lobster bisque soup, but many of my friends love it. I've been to other Red Lobsters and they pale in comparison to this one. If you are in Central Ohio and craving seafood, give this one a try. I'm a local that goes here several times a year. Lately I think this place has kind of gone down hill. The last experience I had I went with a group of friends around lunch time. I ordered The ultimate feast with Lobster, jumbo shrimp, and fish. Everything was chewy and the waiter had forgotten a couple other sides we had ordered. The service was very bad overall. The gentleman paid no attention to us the whole time nor cared about any issues we had. This very bad experience has made take a very long break from this restaurant. I'm not usually big on chain restaurants. And this was my first time at a Red Lobster due to negative reviews from others. But after this experience, I may have changed my mind. This location in particular has some of the best wait staff. Seriously, management needs a thumbs up. Our waitress was so accommodating with the sweetest personality. We got the two combo dinners with a choice of side. So, I can say that the Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp and Peppercorn-Grilled Sirloin are wonderful! Garlic Shrimp Scampi was a little dry. And I expected a larger portion of Steamed Snow Crab Legs. Otherwise, I got the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Nothing off the walls.
