For Easter, my family chose to dine out instead of cooking and went to Texas Roadhouse in Newark, Ohio. With a party of 17, my husband and I arrived early to secure seating, only to be told we couldn't be seated until our assigned server arrived--despite the fact that she had quit and was still on the schedule. A woman who appeared to be a manager or assistant manager then told us to move from the bar area (where we were told to wait) to the waiting area in front of the restaurant. When I questioned why we couldn't be seated in the meantime, she became visibly irritated, raised her voice, and made the situation uncomfortable, emphasizing that "It is Easter" and she was giving her employees time with their families. With that and her display, we decided to leave, and as we did, she repeatedly said, "Have a nice day!" in a condescending tone. Fortunately, LongHorn Steakhouse in Heath, OH turned our day around. They welcomed us immediately, and the managing partner, Adrienne Schmitt, went above and beyond--having heard about our experience, she even provided complimentary appetizers. I was entertaining customers and a colleague and asked if they wanted to eat at a local venue or at Longhorn. Longhorn was the unanimous decision.. There was no issue with waiting for a table as we were seated at a booth. Everyone ordered the filet except for me who ordered the parmesan crusted chicken with half slab of ribs as a combo. I would say that's a great choice and will certainly order again on my next visit. The venue was pretty busy, but not to the point where it was too loud to hear each other. Our granddaughter got the steak and it was over peppered. My wife and I got the crusted chicken Parmesan. It was very salty. I tried to eat it but could not. They made us new ones which was great but they were also salty. We do not eat them we took them home Tried to eat them but ended up throwing them out. The only good thing I could say is that the manager gave us some cake and ice cream for free but we still had to pay for the meal $71$.if anybody else has had this experience about over seasoning and salt. I ordered a steak dinner to take to my brother in a nursing home; used Curbside Pickup. Every single item I asked for - steak sauce, butter, balsamic dressing, salt/pepper, utensils were included in the bag. They didn't forget anything! I don't know how to rate this location. If my ratings were based strictly on the food. I'd say 5 stars for what this place is... a chain restaurant. My wife and I both ordered the 7 peppercorn steak salad. Both medium, both with French. The steaks were good, cooked exactly how we liked them. The salad was fresh, cold, and crisp. The rest of the toppings were well balanced too. Other positives: We were the first people through the door when they opened. We were quickly seated, and drinks were served. They gave our kids a pack of Teddy Grahams to hold them over. All this was great! The bathrooms were cleaned while we were there and were spotless after our meal. The waitress was friendly. Now the negatives: I mentioned that we were the first people there. We ordered immediately, so at worst there were only one or two orders in front of us. Yet, it took 40 minutes for two salads and a kids steak and fries. My wife's drink was refilled promptly, I was ignored. We asked for ketchup and steak sauce for the kids steak. Neither were brought to the table. My wife went into the server's area and grabbed a bottle of ketchup, there was no steak sauce there. My wife didn't like the dressing and asked for ranch. It came out 5 minutes later. The bread was stale on one end. All the little things outweigh the outstanding food quality. 5 stars for the food, subtract two for the lack of attention from anyone. Side note: we've tried to eat here several times over the last 2 years. This location always has a long wait time. 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Well, now we know why. We sat down at 11:01ish, and left at 12:15 despite being the first in the door. If every ticket takes this long, holy moly! They are losing a lot of business to the lack of turnover. read more

We waited 2 hours for a table for 9 people on Mother's Day. They don't take reservations. When we finally got a table, it was another 30 mins. before we even got bread. Then I just ordered appetizers due to it getting late and I told the server to bring as soon as they were ready. The rest of my group got their entrees long before I even got my appetizers, I had to go to a manager to even get my food. Service was horrible, prices are not worth what they are asking, and will never go there again. Do yourself a favor and go to Red Lobster or anywhere else. read more

Stopped in for family dinner. The place was not too crowded, but steady. Our server was right over and very attentive. She brought us our drinks and we ordered the Wild West Shrimp as an appetizer. The shrimp were amazing. They had a great flavor and the pepper pieces served with it was a great addition. I ordered the ribeye steak and was not disappointed. First dinner while on Heath, had to go back to Longhorn Steakhouse as their food was exceptional last time. Salad was nice and crisp, bread was wonderful as before. Service was cheerful, knowledgable and prompt. Main course: did a combination plate this time, parmesan chicken, shrimp, asparagus and rice. Shrimp was cooked PERFECTLY!! OMG, juicy, tender, flavorful...yum! Chicken was as juicy as I remembered. Melty cheese. Tender... Yum!! The only reason for less than 5: asparagus wasnt properly trimmed thus stringy at bottom..and it felt like the only seasoning it saw was the grill. When I go out for dinner I really dont feel like digging strings out of my teeth. And rice was a little under and bland compared to the amazingly seasong main dishes. My sister graduated from college over the weekend and after the ceremony, my family and I were far from home in Newark, Ohio and starving for some good lunch. A few of us are in the middle of doing the Whole30 diet so we had to be very particular about where we were going eat. After checking out the menu online, we knew this was likely our best bet. It was about two in the afternoon and we sat down right away. Nathan was our server and he was quick to greet us and take our drink orders. We asked him a few questions about the menu and apologized in advance for being a picky table. He was the sweetest and was happy to accommodate our dietary restraints. I ended up ordering a salmon salad with a baked potato (no bourbon glaze on the salmon and no butter whatsoever). The rest of my family ordered steaks, of course! It didn't take too long for our food to get prepared and my entrée came out nicely. Our waiter made sure to not have the cheese added to my salad even though I myself forgot to mention it. He totally had my back and it was much appreciated. The salmon was cooked well and the only thing that bothered me was that the tomatoes and cucumber were diced so small that it was hard to get them on the fork. The baked potato was cooked well too and overall I was happy. A family member had a problem with her steak but the team here went above and beyond to get it fixed for her. Everyone had leftovers so we backed them up and hit the road. The bathrooms we clean and every member of the staff I encountered at this location was friendly. I'd come back if I needed to. I've had many great steak meals here, and prompt, attentive wait staff. But...I went for lunch today and nothing seemed to be going my way. Karma you say?! Probably...I'd been feeling under the weather all morning...so we went for a good lunch and I'd tried a new sandwich on the menu. My salad was drowned in dressing and the Kobe Steak Melt...well if you like breading then this is the sandwich for you. Breaded sliced Kobe steak with cheese (Swiss?) topped with breaded onions on a bun. Not much taste because of all the breading. My criticism fell on deaf ears because my waitress was always rushing by even though there were only a few people in the entire restaurant. So much for the meal, so I enjoyed my beer and left. This would be a terrific 5 stars if they actually had call ahead seating. I had a party of six on a Saturday night, called ahead, but you don't actually get on this list until you get there. Makes no sense to me. I would rather wait at home. Hostess is not friendly here, seems like an inconvenience to be there. Our waitress on the other hand was very nice and food was good. Three of my friends and I came in to this location on July 23rd around 9:00 p.m. We all ordered drinks and appetizers. Our table became cluttered with used dishes and the server, Clay, didn't seem too concerned about removing the dishes to make room for our entrees. I ended up sitting my appetizer plate on the ground to make room. He came over and took our orders. My girlfriend ordered the pork chops and I ordered the longhorn, medium well, with a salad and baked potato. The server stepped over my appetizer plate and still didn't really remove very many plates off the table. I ended up picking my plate off the floor and putting it back on the table. He finally came over and took it then. When the entrees came out I could see my steak was clearly overcooked. It was charred severely over the edges. I cut into it and tried to eat two bites out of the middle. One bite I had to spit out. The steak was extremely tough and chewy. We sat around for 10 or 15 minutes waiting for the server to come back over. I told him that I didn't want to complain and be that guy, but I would like another steak, and maybe they could cook it medium instead of medium well. He said he would have the manager come out. I sat around and waited some more, watching my friends finish their meals. He came back over about 20 minutes later and asked us if we needed boxes or dessert. I asked him if my steak was almost done. He gave me a puzzled look like he had no idea what I was talking about. I told him that if they haven't even started on the steak to just go ahead and take it off the bill since my friends were already done eating. He ended up taking my plate with the steak on it and brought out the bill with the steak taken off. The manager never did come out and speak to us. I'll be damned if I'm going to order a $30 steak and not get it cooked the way I wanted, let alone be able to eat it. This isn't the first time we've had problems at this location. One other incident sticks out in my mind. Last year we visited with the same group of friends. I was the first to order and I ordered the wings for an appetizer. The server clearly heard what I said and I saw her write it down. She brought out appetizers for my girlfriend and two friends but didn't bring mine out. When I reminded her about the wings she said that they were out of wings. I told her I would just order the outlaw shrimp instead. As I was waiting for my appetizer to come out and watching my friends eat I looked over and saw the table next to us were wings, and they had clearly been seated after we were. I stopped a passing server and asked him to bring out the manager. The manager came out and I told him that I had ordered the wings and was told they were out of them, but the table next to us that came in after us had the wings on their table. First he claimed the server didn't hear me when I clearly saw her writing my order down, then he said that the server made a mistake and thought they were out of wings. If it wasn't for this location being a halfway point between where we live and our friends live, we would probably go to the location in Pickerington. I can't think of any incidents I've ever had at that location and the manager, Damon, always goes out of his way to come over and talk to me. read more

Every time I visit Newark, this is my stand by favorite. Yesterday was no different. I made my usual nitpicky demands - NO goddamn onions on my salad, I can smell onions a mile away, and even though the menu description says this particular salad comes with onions, my salad did not have a single trace of onion! Also, I didn't want the cinnamon sugar on my sweet potato, and, sure enough, it wasn't on there. So far, this place keeps getting it right, time after time, how do they do it?! read more

It had been a while since I've been to a Longhorn Steakhouse. But from what I remembered...it was pretty good. This particular location opened up recently in Heath and my parents wanted to take me here for dinner. I eagerly said "LET'S GO!" The restaraunt was decorated beautifully inside! Very country, home-like feel! So much to look at. Our server was a sweetheart and very knowledgable with the menu. I ordered the salmon with a rice pilaf, a side of vegetables and a side salad. I should've written a review the FIRST time we went here, because it would have been at least 4 stars. The service has always been good and the food is what is to be expected from a steak chain, not bad, but certainly not the best. Couple weeks ago, I order their new special, "Porcini Portabella Ribeye" (ribeye rubbed with porcini dust, brushed with balsamic butter sauce and topped with a cedar-grilled portabella) it sounded like a great selection! It's a smaller cut of ribeye which is STILL more than I can handle, but nonetheless, ready to approach it. The picture on the menu shows the steak COVERED with mushrooms but that is most certainly NOT what you get. This one arrived in front of me with no portabella anything. Seriously. So as much as I hate to send anything back, I was compelled to in this case. It rearrived with a tiny portabella and a little brown sauce (guess that's the balsamic butter sauce). REALLY disappointing, but I dug in and made the best of it. At least it was cooked the way I ordered it--medium. Last night, I wanted to give it another go (not my brightest hour--maybe it was that chardonnay I had at the bar while waiting for a table). Ordered it medium, as I always do, and it arrived blood red in the middle. WOW. Too raw to eat. Tiny portabella mushroom, sliced, in brown goo on top. Again, I despise sending food back as everyone else is usually done by the time it appears again...and of course, that is exactly what happened. I told our waiter I would keep my baked potato so I had something to munch on, but he told me that it was policy to bring a new potato. Huh? I don't get that since they brought me back the SAME EXACT steak?? Waste of food since I didn't touch the second spud. And ya know what? It ain't that great after all. We went for lunch. We had to wait an unusual amount of time for someone to greet us and seat us. We were just standing looking around for someone for several minutes. After that it was mostly smooth sailing. The environment is really nice, some TVs with football on, and slightly dimmed lighting. The food came out in a timely manner except it seemed like we were waiting a long time between appetizer and meal and it was delicious. Our waiter gave us good service. I had no idea this was the "default setting" for their steaks - but both mine and my wife's were saturated in some sort of Longhorn-branded salt-pepper-spice. Ruined the steak. I don't often go to steakhouses but I had the pleasure of needing to stop here for a particular errand. I'm a vegetarian which makes the menu obviously limited for me. That being said, the Parmesan crusted asparagus is to die for!! The service was very nice as well. Our sever DJ was very accommodating and helpful. The Americano Texan themed decor is not my thing, but I did particularly like the tables.
