I visited this spot on a Friday evening, so it was understandably busy. The food was delicious, especially the wings--they were definitely the highlight of the meal. The prices were very reasonable, and I appreciated that the restaurant offers a military discount, which is a great touch. Parking was easy and available, which made the visit more convenient. Once inside, the wait time was the biggest downside--it took about 45 minutes to get seated. However, after being seated, the food came out quickly, and our server was excellent, attentive, and friendly throughout the meal. If there's one thing I wish they improved, it would be the dessert selection. A few more options would make the experience even better. I got the quesadilla recommended by bar tender. chicken was to be tossed in buffalo sauce........ it was not and the cheese was not melted. the first two pieces had no chicken in them. I would have told her, BT, but she never came to ask how things were. I assumed that a bar tender,having been one, knows how to make a classic Gin Martini. Failed. Lime juice in a gin? and some Simple syrup and you could call it a Gimlet. She asked "so you don't want this ?". No. I ordered a Tanguray Gin Martini with a twist. First time at roosters in Newark. Staff was very friendly . Typical looking roosters joint. Our waitress was nice. The top shelf margaritas were great. My friend ordered the fried shrimp with garlic sauce on them and they were AMAZING! Why have I never tried this at roosters before ?! I typically ordered my usual- dumpster fries and boneless wings. My friend had never had dumpster fries before and enjoyed them. When I order my wings I order sauce on the side and usually order atleast 3 sauces (I like to dip in pieces). This allows me to taste more than one sauce...one sauce is so boring! This also allows for perfect reheating of leftovers in the oven in which they won't be soggy. read more

First time visit review. Very nice indoor seating location. Lots of seating of different types: booths, bar, and family tables that can be put together for a larger table. Busy location with lots of blue collar people and family and kids. Rating 5 stars because food was surprisingly good and not super expensive. Appetizers cost more that entrees but I liked them too. Got the fried pickle with ranch appetizer (tasty but a little expensiv), 10 donkey sauce (actually spicy hot!) chicken wings (large size and meat wasn't dry) to share with my family, then they got a vegetarian sub and a vegetarian cheese pizza which honestly was great because there was a lot of flavor in the bell peppers. The wait staff is mostly high school or college age girls in shorts. Like it's summer time and it's fine but yeah just typical high school/college girls. Some friendly some y'know like whatever it's just a job attitude, but nothing I would've remarked upon if it wasn't for other reviews. Ok for me. Lots of TVs tuned to sports channels. Nice ambience. On Chodeats everyone was talking about how good Roosters was...so the wife and I went and the decor, the waitresses and the ambiance of Texas roadhouse is one in the same. Both are loud and confusing to try and have a conversation with the person across from you. The food was all the same, fried, fried, fried oh and fried, all in the same grease and all purchased from the same gfs more than likely. If not gfs some food resource. I got 10 mild Buffalo wings and 10 Korean BBQ. The Korean BBQ was good but a little too sweet in the end. The Buffalo wings are to a neighbor, or the stray cats. Oh and the wife got 4 chicken tenders that were just strips, the first 4 she git were waaay past golden, and brown, and headed to black. The waitress got her some more and they were almost the same. Our bill was 37.00 and I had gotten 50 in gift cards for the fuel points, and the waitress that showed she wanted a 15 to 20 percent tip got a 13.00 tip just because we won't be going back. read more

I had been wanting to go back to Roosters since I had only tried it once in lancaster and remembered it having the best chicken I've had here to date. Newark not having the best restaurant selection we decided to stop here at dinner. Since we had already tried all the apps last time, I went straight for the chicken and we wanted to try something different. I had the new asian chicken salad, I chose it with grilled chicken and asked how it was served. I was told 3 strips and since that was what i liked best last time, perfect. Turns out they gave me chopped up grilled chicken, not what I wanted but tasted fine, just not as good as whole breast strips. The man got the fried chicken salad and liked it as well. The sauces pretty much suck, he had the BBQ which reminded me one the one at BK (not a good thing) we also had the medium and the sweet thai chili, none worth it. Last time we tried pretty much all of them, they are all more or less melted butter with salt and hot sauce... The boy got boneless wings which were tasty and we got the onion feathers and seasoned wedges, both good but we were told they were $1 off at happy hour turns out they were not...and for that and a tiny portion not so exciting. My husband also got the chicken parmesan sandwich, it was so salty, soggy and the cheese was unmelted and plasticy we sent it back. The chicken patty no better than McDonalds, I still think the strips are the best around, stick to that when you have a chicken craving and you'll have a great meal. I also didn't remember it being quite as Hooter-esque (maybe because last time we had a male server) but here it as all about tons of make up and super short shorts. I tried the snickers and the reeses pie for dessert, $3 each, tiny slices, the reese's was pretty damn good, snickers not so much, not worth the money. My family from out of town came with me late night to see what the talk was all about. I was nervous about coming in late, but had a great time. We all got wings. All fresh with a lot flavor - no chewing through gristle. I can tell these aren't frozen wings. The order of curly fries was so large which made me a happy camper. Best wings in Newark. Biggest and juiciest. Far better than Buffalo Wild Wings down in Heath or any of the other nearby joints with smaller dry wings. I love Roosters! I've been to several locations around central Ohio. And no....they're not all the same. It always depends on location. With my new found love of wings....it's hard to pass one by without at LEAST reading some Yelp reviews. And ultimately, I find my way through the door to bury my face in a basket of carolina gold traditional wings! This location has been here for several years now. This building has been used for everything, Elby's, Shoney's, Millers Essenplatz, a Chinese buffet, and now a Roosters. It's been remodeled in the inside, and looks completely different. It's amazing how it's been transformed. But anyway, the food is always great! My two favorite sauces are the carolina gold and then the donkey sauce. I made the mistake of ordering 20 traditional wings with donkey sauce. Not a mistake for the sauce (which is a perfect blend of buffalo and hot)....but for eating all 20 in the same day. If you like fried foods, this is your place. I've always loved their chicken tenders with chipotle sauce. Their tenders are the REAL kind, not some nasty pre-made pressed meat. If you don't like fried food, skip this place. They have basically nothing to offer you. Service is usually very friendly, though every once in a while they get really busy and it really goes downhill, for the lost part though, all of the girls here are awesome. My only complaint? The dining area is spacious, clean, and well-lit, all attributes that you don't find often in a sports bar. There are witticisms all over the walls and menus, letting you know straightaway that you are visiting a laid-back establishment. There is also an outdoor patio for warm weather, although admittedly the scenery of 21st Street traffic is a bit lacking in glamour. Great place to just chill & watch a game or two. These days it seems to be a teen hangout. Even the servers all look underage. If you want great wings, this is the place to be!
