Kids Chicken Fingers, Steamed Maritime Lobster Tail
    Tanya B.

We were in town for a tournament and were looking for somewhere to celebrate the end of season. My boys decided they wanted to try something different so I suggested Red Lobster. We were seated quickly and for a Friday night I was surprised it wasn't overly busy. Our server arrived quickly with water and Cheddar Bay Biscuits and pointed out the special feature menu. Out of the norm, I decided to try a beverage from the bar. I was treated to a visual masterpiece with the Snowglobe Sangria. It literally sparkled! Flavor was good as well. For our meals we started with Seafood Stuffed Mushroom caps which has been a favorite of mine for over 25 years, and now I will have to share at any future visits with my kids! They came out quick, piping hot and delicious. For them I ordered the chicken tenders, but I accompanied my meal with a second Maritime Lobster Tail so they could enjoy their own and not steal mine from my plate ;) The meals came quickly and like the appetizer were just the perfect temperature. I had the Ultimate Feast and enjoyed every bite. Accompanied by a salted baked potato, even with the generous portion I was wishing for more. The Walt's breaded shrimp batter was crispy, garlic shrimp deliciously baked in garlic butter, lobster tail tender and the snow crab firm to crack and sweet inside. And what meal couldn't be topped off better without a visit from a fresh local celebrity? When my youngest son sauntered to the live lobster tank to take one more view of the 'cute' lobsters, our waitress returned to ask if they would like to pet one. The hostess brought forth a fine specimen table side, letting my boys and the children of friends sitting at the next table a chance to see one up close and even touch to feel it's hard shell. A quick trip to the washroom to clean up after meeting their new friend, they were back in their seats for their desserts. While pricier than I remembered from my last visit, this unfortunately has become the norm after COVID. Still, the meal and the service were excellent. Not somewhere we could afford to eat often, but would certainly be at the top of our list for special occasions in Kingston again.

It is nice, but a bit expensive. The service is great, they serve delicious biscuits and they can give you a complimentary bag of them if you want when you are leaving.

I can't recall the names of these dishes. However, there is a little bit of everything between both of our dishes.

The food is consistent which is something you don't get as much in other types of chain restaurants. The service is consistent and good.

We scoped out a few places and landed here for a change from the typical pub vibe, Italian pasta joints around the corner, or chains like Jack Astor's. We beat the lunch crowd, arriving just before 2 PM. Service was great--we were seated immediately and ordered a few tapas: some roasted Brussels sprouts and a selection of meat options including Persian BBQ lamb, achiote grilled chicken, and sticky pork ribs. The chicken was my least favorite, though it wasn't bad. Everything else was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I'd really like to come back another time for proper drinks--they have an impressive wine list and a nice selection of sangrias that caught my eye. Definitely worth a return visit if you're passing through Kingston.

They have a private party room downstairs which is also where the restrooms are located so the restaurant isn't really accessible. They recommend 3-4 dishes per person. This can be expensive as most dishes are in the 20 dollar range. The steak with chimichurri sauce was excellent!!! But was also $44.00 for about 13 small slices. We also ordered a Thai green curry cod that comes with cashews infused in the sauce. We had a nut allergy at the table so they were able to remove the cashews to make the dish nut free. Service was decent but this is a dining environment where you are not rushed out the door. Dishes come out sporadically so you are meant for slow dining. This is a good place to celebrate a special occasion or if you just want something different while in Kingston.

Really insane that my max 30$ meal turned to 60$. I've been to this restaurant the most throughout my undergrad, love their food, and always thought/spoke highly of it. This starts from the basic decor to the Korean lady traditionally running the kitchen. Menu prices were very reasonable, catering to the student demographic. Gam Ja Tang (pork bone soup) was a pleasant surprise, with large pieces of pork neck bone and fall-off-the-bone meat in the mildly spicy fresh kimchi broth. But the potato could've used more time to soak up the bold soup flavours. The colourful Bibimbap was served with a nice runny egg but the chopped vegetables caused stirred rice to be watery. That was atoned by a popping platter of Korean Seasoned Fried Chicken in sweet & spicy gochujang sauce. The boneless half portion was huge. Pieces were crunchy & saucy in one bite! This restaurant is a short drive up Princess St from downtown with city parking nearby. Both patio & indoor dining options were available. Service was smooth & easygoing. Glad to enjoy this spot for an authentic Korean meal among the few Asian food options in town.

Normally I would never get this type of pizza as I love a red sauce, but this was recommended by one of my friend's friends so we tried it. And I'm so glad we did! This pizza is amazing and the flavours are prefectly balanced. Fast forward to this year, I was on a road trip with my husband and my dog and I just HAD to have this pizza again. We ordered the Nona Mela and the Citta pizza (the Citta has prosciutto and brie), and they were both delicious! The Nona Mela was especially good, and my husband agreed that it was a lot better than what he expected. We couldn't finish the two pizzas between us, so we brought the leftovers home and reheated it two days later. Somehow, the pizza was even better than the day of! We actually ordered an extra Nona Mela to bring home to one of my friends who was on the girls trip a few years ago, as she also has been thinking of this pizza. That's how good it is! The pizza is on the pricier side though, but very worth. We sat on the patio since we had a dog and the waiters/waitresses were very nice and gave my dog a water bowl.

We made a reservation a few days ahead just incase. We were only going to be in town for a day and had no ideas if it would be busy. Given we were here for a weekend, we figured it's safest to put in a reservation. I ordered an Orange Grove (non-alcoholic) which has Juniper gin, Bella Aperitif, orange & lemon juice and infused Mighty Leaf Ginger Twist tea syrup. It was so refreshing and delightful! Absolutely gorgeous flavour that tastes like really fresh clementine juice. We got a dozen East Coast oysters to enjoy. Each were beautifully plump, fresh, and a lovely flavour. The accompanying classic shallot mignonette and horseradish were fantastic. For mains, I actually ordered the fritto misto di mare appetizer. It has fried shrimp, scallops, calamari, lemon and caper berries with caper-tarragon aïoli. I don't know if you're meant to eat the lemons and carpers too but I did and it was so delicious. Please never take this off the menu. My partner ordered the gnocchi with beef cheek ragù, truffle and parmesan. Gnocchi were huge and a lovely texture. Delicious ragu that felt very comforting. The place is open and bright wherever you sit, whether on the outdoor patio, downstairs by the bar, or upstairs. Service was excellent. My reservation was smoothly handled, and my server took good care of me. I got offeres some bread and butter after I ordered, which was really a nice surprise. The offered breads were seeded, ollve, and rustic style. All delicious, especially with the sweet butter. For the main meal, I got a half dozen oysters, an order of cha gio and their Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad. The cha gio were crispy, not greasy, sweet and savoury. The oysters were super fresh, sweet and a good size. Along with the usual condiments, they included pickled red onion, which is the first time I've ever had this. I really enjoyed the acidic sweet bite enhancing the sweetness of the oysters. The Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad had microgreens, red cabbage, red and green and yellow sweet pepper, red chili pepper, edamame, coriander, green onions, and fried parsnip chips. The Ahi was charred on the outside, fresh and meaty. I appreciate that the sesame oil, soy sauce and hint of chili on the perfectly chewy noodles was separate from the veggies. The vegetables had a very clean flavour, but I would have liked something more, maybe a touch of citrus. A glass of good wine rounded out the whole experience. I was way too full at the end of the meal to even contemplate dessert. All in all, a great meal, and I would return any time.
