Korean Fried Chicken (Sweet & Spicy)
Raval A.

This lively Korean restaurant has great food and excellent service! The waitstaff is so friendly & welcoming, they alone make this place worth revisiting. Everything we ordered tasted great and was full of flavour. The portions are huge and you'll never leave hungry. The fried chicken in particular was perfectly crunchy and addictive!

I really enjoy their seafood soup and boneless chicken. Grilled pork belly (I can barely remember the name lol not sure whether it's the right name but make sure to take a look at the photo attached)tastes so good with the garlic omg it's super soft. The budai jjigae is a little bit sweet, would love it more if it's spicier.

Budae jjigae - so delish!!

My family enjoyed a delicious meal here tonight! You can tell the Korean food they serve here is authentic and homecooked. The service was attentive and friendly too. The waitress was really sweet and also gave us some tea after our meal as we waited for the rain to pass by. Highly recommend Gangnam Style for anyone living or visiting Kingston!

Jjambong

So delicious foods are there. Maybe bulgogi is the smart choice if you are not familiar to spicy food. If you are, I recommend jjambong.

TL;DR - good Korean food. Won't knock your socks off, but the best you'll find in Kingston. This new Korean restaurant recently opened in Kingston. At Psy's eponymous restaurant, we expected a concert of bold, modern, exciting Korean flavours. What entailed was more of a half-baked dress rehearsal. The dishes weren't bad by any means, but they were far from memorable. Seafood noodle soup: 3/5. Imagine a pack of Shin ramen noodles with frozen seafood - that's what this dish tasted like. It was still delicious, but it reminded me of something I would make at home. The spicy broth was really tasty, but tasted very strongly of seafood. If you aren't a fan of "fishy" flavours, stay away from this dish. Bibimbap: 4/5. This is really solid bibimbap. This is as good as you'll get anywhere in Koreatown in Toronto. The only area of improvement we would have liked would have been having purple rice instead of white rice. Aside from this, it was perfectly good. The vegetables all tasted fresh, the rice was pleasantly flavoured with sesame oil, and the beef was succulent. We will absolutely come back to taste some of the other dishes. Hopefully we'll find a smash hit. In the broader context of Korean food, this place is a good but forgettable, honest attempt of authentic Korean foods. But in the quaint hollows of Kingston, Gangnam Style represents a breakthrough in the Asian food scene. This restaurant presents a strong challenge to Podonamu, Hwaki, and any other Korean mainstay in Kingston. This is a must try for any appreciators of Asian food in Kingston - we can't wait to come back.

Gamjatang (front) and I ordered spicy seafood noodles (back)which I'd recommend !!

My first time here and I ordered the spicy seafood noodles ($14.99) - it was actually filling, the soup was seasoned and spiced nicely (not too spicy but def had a kick to it), and there was a good amount of seafood (mainly calamari and shrimp and I got one mussel haha) My friend ordered Gamjatang and he said I'd say 3.5/5 for me. The soup was quite decent and the meat was tender and fell off the bone. However I wasn't a huge fan of the inclusion of cabbage in the gamjatang and also being called gamjatang, it was lacking in gamja We only got a small potato side dish and a bit of kimchi side dish

Went there with my girlfriend. Got half half fried chicken. (Original and spicy) The portion was very generous. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side. I'm the beginning of had a bit doubt because my girlfriend ordered boneless. Boneless chicken are usually breast and tastes bland. But this chicken tastes flavorful, so either it's brined or marinated well or it's a piece of dark meat.

First time here. I felt transported to another city the moment I walked in. Maybe I just don't get out in Kingston enough...

We had just moved back to Fort Drum, NY from living in Korea for the last 3 years. Prior to Korea,…read morewe've gone to many Korean bbq in America and have had amazing experiences. This one was one of the most depressing experience I've had in my life. The kids were even sad First the grill. It's not the built into the table ones, so no air vents above to suck up the air. They bring the table side one to your table. Second, we had to complain twice about the weak flames/grill and that it was taking over 5 minutes to cook the paper thin beef slices. Kids were starving. Second, banchan. The side dishes. If you've been to any decent Korean restaurants, you know that the free side dishes are full of color and flavor. They only have us these sad dishes. The kimchi was fine, I just wanted some green onions, spinach, bean sprouts, something. Third... no steamed eggs! I don't think I've ever seen a Korean restaurant without Gyeran-jjim. That's one of our favorite side dishes, so that was disappointing. Fourth, garlic. We love getting thin slices of garlic to cook on the grill and eating it in our lettuce wrap. They claimed they didn't have any garlic. Odd. Location, off of the main road with plenty of parking. So that was good. The servers were kind, but had a tough time with the grill to work properly. We finally had one of the male servers to swap out the grill and the meat finally started sizzling. I think this place has great potential, but if it's a portable burner and barely any side dishes, I can easily do it at home. We love going out for kbbq for the full experience of endless banchan. Our search continues...

We got a variety of marinated beef, kalbi, and pork belly. No complaints it gets the job done. Also got an order of tteokbokki and korean pancake which were also just ok. Would've liked the tteokbokki to have some extras in there other than just the rice cake. Textbook 3 star it's just ok but a bit pricy.

Ordering is done via the QR Code on the table and menu consists of everything you would normally expect from Fried Chicken to GamJaTang to Bibimbap to a variety of soups and stews. One thing you don't get upon sitting is tea. Not sure if it's because the clientele is mostly students. Everyone gets a glass of cold water. Good choice of soju and other bottled drinks. What we ordered: Soon Tofu Stew with Pork - decent sized cubes of pork in a spicy tofu stew served with a side of rice Pork Katsu - served with a gravy on top of the katsu and side of rice and cabbage slaw Spicy Chicken - served with rice and a fried egg on top of the rice Flavours were good and portion sizes were okay. What was sad was the banchan we were served. Again not sure if it's the customer population but what we got was not spectacular in choice or flavour. I actually think it's gotten worse. Regardless this is a good place if you want a comforting Korean meal in a decent setting.

Podonamu 8/10…read more We are regulars at this place that is conveniently located on Princess St in downtown Kingston. Unlike most Korean places, you need to ask for the side dishes (kimchi, potato salad and bean sprouts). Overall, one of our favourites! Half and half chicken: This is a mix of the Korean sauce fried chicken and Korean fried chicken. Perfect to share for groups where some people like spicy foods while others can't handle it. Dukbokki with ramen: This is a perfect spicy meal for a cold day! Good to share between 2 people. Rice cakes: This is made with the same sauce as the Korean sauce fried chicken. Highly recommend this appetizer! Kanpoong Chicken (large): We weren't quite sure what this was based on the name, but it was very good! It was a nice blend of sweet and savoury and goes well with white rice. **Follow @smfoodd on Instagram for more reviews!!

My first, first to review ~…read more It's always nice to see more Korean restaurants open up in Kingston (gives me more excuses to eat out). Having tried Podonamu and Gangnam Style, I was pretty intrigued as how this place would compare to the two staples in the area. Overall it's pretty decent I would say, along with the other two. It's takes on a bit more of a modern setting with ordering in the front and pickup via trays like you would at a food court. They have some seating but not too many so might be hard to sit down during busy times of the day. Their menu is pretty much what you'd expect from any Korean joint. A healthy selection of soups, noodles, and rice options. I opted for the gamjatang (pork bone soup) as I've had at both Podo and Gangnam. As a new restaurant, I give it some leeway in saying that it's alright but still needs some work. The soup flavour was there but it felt a little starchy? (not sure how to explain it but it just wasn't like what I was used to in texture) The pork itself was solid and portions were good too. Sides were served in small little bowls individually and were ok. I would definitely go back and try their other options to see how they stack up but in terms of pork bone soup I thought it was below average. Overall, a very welcome addition to Korean options in Kingston and I'm hoping they really take off!
