The food flavour is amazing ! Portion size BIG which is rare these days. One order can easily feed 2 if not more! I was hungry so tried the green curry, red curry and pad Thai. All 3 were sooooo good. My wife and I have have over half of each still left over. The spring rolls are the best spring rolls I've ever had and I've had them around the world ! Ordered takeout. They get incredibly busy, especially their phone line, so had to just go in and order, and then come back after ~40 minutes to pickup. Got the Pad Thai (#18) and the Banhseo (#8). After all the claims that this was the best pad thai in Kingston, I have to say I was pretty disappointed. The noodles weren't exactly great; good hardness but not good chew. Flavour was a little on the bland side. However, I really enjoyed the Banhseo. It's like an thin crepe/pancake wrapped around chicken, bean sprouts. Served with fish sauce, and some chili sauce, it was light and tasty, but also very satisfying. Portion sizes are huge. Definitely good value. read more

There is only one word to describe this place: home. Or if you aren't Asian: home away from home. This homely place dishes up down to earth Thai food with huge portions. Tip #1: Order early. This places fills up FAST. Your best bet is to call right when they open and schedule a pickup. Tip #2: Don't order the 15 if you don't like sweet stuff. Best Pad Thai in Kingston - definitely worth waiting Randomly bumped into this restaurant after exam, we shared a Pad Thai, a green curry chicken rice, a hot and sour shrimp rice in Phnom Penh style. The food is made-to-order and we waited for at least half hour (not fast food for sure). The portion was more than enough for four hungry souls. We were impressed by their authentic Pad Thai. Stir-fried with sweet and sour sauce, the flavours and texture of rice noodles were just right. Don't forget to squeeze a bit lime juice into your dish! The green curry was amazing. The creamy paste with coconut milk was fragrant and not very spicy. For the Phnom Penh style shrimp rice, it was like a curry in Cambodian style (I'm not sure how to describe this). It was spicier than the green curry. The sauce was quite refreshing with a little bit of sourness like Tom Yum. I didn't expect so much but this meal was just simply terrific. This place has always been one of my go to places in kingston. The place is small with only 6 tables. It is semi self serve where the water are in jugs in the fridge that you grab. Order at the counter. Food quantity: Large, definitely will feed a person who can eat a large pizza. Recommend: #1 is a very good chicken curry. You can ask to be spicy, otherwise mild. A very milky curry (coconut milk). #8 is unique hard to describe but extremely good. It is some sort of massive pita/ omlette. The pad thai is also good. Warning: a elderly couple cooks, weird working hours so maybe call ahead (might have to call a couple times). During dinner or lunch rushes, expect long wait time (call and order ahead). The place can only seat about 16 people, and kitchen is right behind the counter where you have the full view of them cooking. Fantastic food, good prices, and huge portions! Wok-In's cuisine is actually Thai/Vietnamese/Cambodian rather than Chinese. I came with some friends and we had green and red curries, plus pad thai. The three dishes were more than enough for four hungry people (we had leftovers). The red curry chicken was the unanimous favourite. This place only loses 1 star for us waiting over 1 hour for our food. The seating is very limited (about 5 tables) and it is also a take-out and delivery place. It seemed that the take-out and delivery customers received priority, and the tiny kitchen (run by just 2 people) could not really keep up with demand on this busy Saturday evening. We actually had to go to a show, so we ended up getting our food to go and eating it in the theatre lobby:S But the owners were really apologetic and gave us extra fortune cookies! This place is absolutely amazing. Firstly, it's run by a husband and wife and they've been in operation for over 20 years. Secondly, it's a hidden place (I think known mostly to locals only) and you need to know what to look for to find it. Although tofu is not on the menu, you can totally sub it. I order the #1 with tofu. The pad thai is also delicious. The portions are really generous and the service is great. It is CASH ONLY, so just be aware of that. I usually order takeout as they only have a few tables, it's a very tiny restaurant. Some have commented the food takes a long time, when I order it's ready in 20 minutes - not too long in my opinion (lunch hour). Go there! You won't be disappointed. read more

Simply the best. The Wok-In is one of the last of what feels like a dying breed - the proud, truly authentic, family-run restaurant. The first thing you'll notice - it's small. Very small. Just barely enough room for a few tables of four, and the kitchen is packed right in with you. The second thing you'll notice - it gets BUSY! I most often called in my order ahead of time and would pick it up or dine-in around 45-90 minutes later. You essentially can't go wrong on the menu. The Pad Thai is amazing, the spicy walnut chicken curry is amazing, the Kako Khmer is incredible, the spring rolls & noodles dish is phenomenal.. The most ridiculous part is how affordable it all is. It's delicious, healthy, food prepared right in front of your eyes from fresh ingredients..I don't know what else to say. There's a reason people drive out from all over Ontario to get their fix! This hole-in-the-wall was my favorite restaurant in Kingston back in my university days. This past weekend I revisited it after 10 years. And damn it is just as good! I ordered the phad Thai and red curry shrimp. The phad Thai was just the right amount of sweetness. The chicken was succulent and the portion huge. The sauce on the red curry shrimp was so flavourful that I could have eaten just the sauce and rice! Best of all the owner, Chris, still greets you with the same bright smile that he has always had! Now this is a tiny place. There are only two cooks. So you will have to wait for your food and they may not all arrive at the same time for your entire party. This place is incredible. Had Pad Thai and #9, and spring rolls. All dishes were the best in Eastern Ontario. It can be a challenge to order at times, no voice mail, hours aren't posted, cash only, and none of that matters. It's a small husband and wife operation who focus on food. I don't have very many favourite restaurants, but this is definitely one of them. The food is fresh and made-to-order. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering how much food you get. One dish could probably feed 2-3 people. Yes, it is considered a "hole in the wall" restaurant, but it is clean and there is hot tea and cold water in the fridge. Most importantly, the food is delicious and very flavourful, but not too salty. After leaving Kingston, I still think about this restaurant. Every time I have Thai food elsewhere, I compare it to the food here and have always been slightly disappointed. I recently went back to Kingston for a visit and made sure to stop here. I usually order the #1 red curry or the pad thai. The red curry is coconutty with the perfect mix of spices; it is rich but not at all greasy. The pad thai is beautiful- topped with generous amounts of fresh veggies, peanuts, shrimp and lime. The only thing that would make it better would be some egg... but I honestly haven't had a better pad thai yet. Overall, this place is great, and will definitely be on the list of places to visit when I go back to Kingston. I hope it never changes! read more

The noodles with bbq was good; but would definitely recommend the pad Thai as the number one choice. Order took around 20 minutes to get ready. Wasn't able to sit inside due to covid. This place absolutely gets 5 stars! Best Thai food I've ever eaten. My husband and I order here once a week when we work late. We order spring rolls (large for the price) and the #1 (red curry coconut chicken) extra mild. Portions are more than fair, and the flavour of the curry dish is insane. Tastes even better the next day. Sometimes we ask for no rice, and he gives us extra chicken instead! The owner is so busy though, that he often doesn't answer the phone for his takeout orders. The thing is, when your food is that good, he can get away with it. We'll happily call ten times in a row to have him pick up on the eleventh try, so that we can order some delicious food. It's just the owner and his wife cooking all the food by hand, so I can see not wanting to get too overwhelmed. There are hours posted, but they're often closed unannounced.
