Opted for an order of veggie spring rolls and spicy red veggie curry with steamed rice to go. Server was very sweet and friendly. Spring rolls were super flavourful, nice and crispy, not greasy at all. Loved the dipping sauce which accompanied them - tangy, sweet with a touch of garlic. The hot n sour soup was better than any other with the sauce having a light colour and none of those pickle weared tasting stuff in it. Perfect spice. While touring about in Kingston, we found this place for lunch on Yelp. The decor is charming--like old french inn style. The walls are brick and stone. The kitchen is open. There is patio seating on the street side. We ordered basil spicy noodle, curry pad thai w/ chicken, ginger chicken, and spring rolls. Topped it off w/ thai tea. After spending much of the day exploring Kingston we wanted to find a nice comfortable restaurant and enjoy a great meal, after going back and forth on our decision we chose Apsara Angkor. The restaurant's interior and sidewalk dining area were about half filled and the menu looked surprisingly appetizing and of course the Yelp reviews were very convincing as well. We were seated immediately after entering the restaurant and shortly there after our friendly server joined us. We ordered our drinks and the shrimp wonton appetizer while deciding on our entrees. Our food arrived piping hot and looked wonderful, then the disappointment set in I love Thai food not only for its textures and flavors but because I like the levels of heat - my choice is always "Thai Hot" I have no fear when it comes to spiciness, unfortunately my dish was about as bland as you can get, absolutely no heat and it lacked flavor to the point I could not eat it. Our server immediately recognized something was not right and I informed her of the issue and she immediately offered to bring out something to kick it up a few notches. I really prefer to not add condiments when I order something a certain way and told her just to take it away. The owner/ chef came to our table very apologetic and offered to add the spices to my dish and recook my dish (this never works out). After waiting quite awhile my modified dish returned of course my girl friend was done eating so no matter this very sincere effort wasn't going to fix the issue. This restaurant is very centrally located on the waterfront, between Princes and Johnson streets, so it is very convenient for a meal or a pickup if you're staying at one of the surrounding hotels. Inside it is pretty standard Thai restaurant decor, with the reds and the golds, and the dragons, etc. Furniture is nice, not some cheap metal frame with plastic. We ordered the two thai classics we always do - Pad Thai with shrimp and Red Curry with chicken. Both were very good. Ingredients tasted fresh and the sauces were right, not too salty like some Thai places. Of course it wasn't at the level of Northern Pai or Khao San Road in Toronto, but then no Thai restaurant in Canada can equal those two authentic Thai gems. For Kingston, this would be a five star restaurant, but if we measure on the level of all Canada, it definitely deserves four stars. read more

We were craving Asian foods and stumbled upon this little gem in the small town of Kingston. It's a cute little place near the waterfront with nice decors indoor and a small outdoor seating area. (The outdoor seating could use some curb appeals to attract more customers though.). We have always been a little skeptical in trying ethnic foods at small towns but the food here is surprisingly very good and authentic. The pad see ew was really good and not too salty. The coconut chicken soup was flavorful. The mango salad had surprisingly sweet mangos and good flavor! Finally, the deep fried fish with mango was very crispy outside and flaky on the inside! Husband and I have loved Thai food for many years and I was keen to try Cambodian as well, so we ate here once on a weekend trip to Kingston; would not hesitate to go back whenever we are in town or passing by again. We started w veg spring rolls: Aspara Angkor's were the best we've had in years. Then we shared a veg Pad Thai, which was also VERY well done...would not hesitate to order it again, and sure wish our local Thai restaurant near our home in downtown Toronto could make it as well (our server told us that both customers had also suggested that the restaurant open a branch in Toronto too, lol). The best part of our meal was a steamed fish curry dish only available in the summer, called "Amok". The fish was perfectly cooked and the red curry in which it was served was absolutely absolutely delicious; I strongly recommend it. A bit spicy (medium) but not overdone. Amok is a Khmer dish, and it was lovely to try it and enjoy it so much. Service was efficient and we sat on a nice patio w a great view. read more

Ordered the mango tofu dish. To my surprise when I hit into my first Tofu cube it was frozen. It was a huge piece of Tofu and I had only eaten a quarter so i showed it to my waitress and she put her finger into and said this was normal that the tofu was supposed to be cold. I said this doesn't make sense, as it was a stir fried dish. She then told me she is the owner and this hasn't happened in 20 years. It was such a small thing and all she had to do was give me another piece of Tofu to replace the frozen one, but she didn't. My advice don't go here if you want hot Tofu, BUT if you want frozen Tofu this is your spot! Lol. read more

These reviews cant be right. We should have known seeing that on the busiest nights (busker festival) this place was dead. 3 of the 6 dishes we ordered were passable (certainly not authentic) but the other 3 were just plain horrible. There was only 1 waitress working who couldn't recommend one dish she liked. The sample appetizer, pineapple fried rice and pad Thai were ok. (in all honesty if you cant get those right, you need to shut your doors now). The green curry was so bland and the chicken was very very dry. In fact every meat dish we ordered was dry), whatever they tried to pass as garlic beef sirloin was horribly flavoured and ridiculously overcooked. It tasted like paper. The kids only ate the white rice we served with it. And lastly, get this, the cashew chicken came to the table with NO CASHEWS!!! The waitress apologized and brought us a side of cashews to sprinkle on the dish. Terrible meal for our first time in Kingston. But we gave it 1 star bc of the awesome location. read more

This place as great. We had a large party and they took us right away. They were quick and very friendly. We had several appetizers including the chicken satay, the fresh rolls and chicken wings. We stopped for an early dinner and opted to sit outside. We were greeted and seated quickly. Glasses of water were provided with the menus. Since my companion had not tried Thai food before, our server Kat was extremely helpful and friendly. She took the time to explain the menu, make suggestions according to our tastes, and took our orders promptly. We started with the Hot & Sour Soup which was very flavorful and fresh. My companion had Chicken Pad Thai and I had the Cashew Chicken with Rice. Our entrees were served quickly, with incredibly generous portions, and were sooo delicious!! So we went to this restaurant and we ordered two dishes. One with no rice and one with no egg. Guess what? We got the first one with Rice and the second one with egg. Now they were nice enough to change the dish and bring it with no egg, but unlucky for us, there was a hair in the food. The thai food they serve here is pretty legit. It totally managed to satisfy our Thai food/Asian food cravings. Growing up in an Asian country, I'd say the food they serve at this restaurant is pretty decent. I'd totally give them 5 star but we weren't satisfied with the pineapple fried rice. Pineapple Fried rice - you fry the rice with the pineapples you don't put the pineapples in after you fry the rice. Minus one star right off the bat for seating the solo female diner at the worst table in the house. There were at least six other tables that would have been better and were available from the time that I arrived until the time that I left. Bad form. Seating options are booths and tables. The prices would be high for Toronto, so they are completely ridiculous in Kingston. Examples: $7 for won ton soup; $7 for two chicken fresh rolls; $9 for shrimp fresh rolls; and, $12 for veggie fried rice. I had the veggie spring rolls ($5); they were fine but they are hard to mess up. Same comment for the mango salad ($9). To give them their due, they worked very hard to accommodate my allergies. They couldn't make my first choice and I appreciate them telling me so up front. read more

We noticed this location pop up a while back, but just made it in the other night for dinner. The ambiance is really lovely; upscale with really reasonable prices. The service was supremely fast; perhaps just a bit too fast, but I'm not really trying to complain. The food is fantastic, and is a really great ethnic addition to downtown Kingston. The flavor is excellent and the curries were packed with a variety of veggies; more than you'll find in other places, I'd say. Visited this place for lunch when in Kingston during the long weekend with family. We were glad we chose this from the reviews on yelp. The space, decor and service were all to just perfection. Had the Thai BBQ grill beef, Curry pad Thai and the Vegetable Basil fried rice. I would say they really know their cooking since all the three dishes were just perfect in taste with th right spice as required. It's a perfect place to relax since they have a good indoor space and also have a patio with a few tables outside. My family and I had dinner tonight and loved it! The dishes were full of flavor with very fresh ingredients. The yellow curry had great heat without being overly spicy, the wonton soup had a rich broth and the chicken and basil dish was well seasoned and stir fried the right way that allowed the vegetables to remain crisp. This was our first time here, but won't be our last. We visit Kingston several times a year and will definitely return. Excellent variety and every dish so far has been delicious. They can make many of their dishes gluten free if you need. Love love love the red chicken curry and the chicken peanut sauce with rice. Wait time for food is variable depending on the crowd but faster than most restaurants. Order in and you'll get more food than take out (it appears) but I could have just been hungry!
