This is for those who are worried that your Pat's memories may just be nostalgia. I went back today for the first time since 2019. It was just as good now as it was back then, maybe even better. Takeout only, but that's just an excuse to fill a cooler before you leave town. If only they would open a Vancouver branch... read more

I felt like this restaurant was a little bit mediocre. It might be because my friends really hyped out this place. It was nothing special, but it was tasty. If you got a dish for the price, you got a lot of food. Imagine the largest hour for box size and it is definitely filled to the top. I have friends were a big eaters, and even they could not finish the portion. They were generous with the amount of proteins, such as shrimp or chicken and the dishes. As of any restaurant, the predominant portion of food is rice or noodles. I got the pad Thai and it was a little bit on the acidic end of the spectrum for me. But otherwise it was tasty, although a little bit bland. read more

The best in town hands down! Many other options in town but Pat started it all way back in the early 1990s and continues to deliver great food at a reasonable price. read more

I really enjoyed my meal at Pat's. There were 4 of us and we each ordered something different. Number 1 the red curry, number 5 chicken stir fry, sour green curry soup and pad Thai. All dishes were very unique and very flavorful. The red curry was outstanding. Some of the best I've ever tried, and red curry is always my go-to dish for Thai restaurants. They are not stingy with the basil! The green curry soup had a hint of sourness as per its name, but it's not really sour. It was delicious and very much like the traditional Thai green curry except in soup form. The pad Thai was beautiful looking but in general I don't enjoy pad Thai as one of my favorites. My dad said he enjoyed it, but I wasn't really able to judge by just a few bites. My least favorite of the 4 entrees for sure. Mom ordered number 5, a chicken stir fry. It was in a yellowish curry like sauce. It didn't seem flavorful at first but after a few bites it really grew on me. I ended up eating the rest of the sauce after she had finished all the veggies and chicken. Prices were around $13 for each meal and they had special dishes for $15. Pretty good deal considering the portion sizes are very big. I loved it!! read more

Came here for lunch as we made our way to Ottawa for the Victoria Day weekend. Originally, we had planned to visit Royal Angkor (we had read raving reviews online about its Golden Chicken); unfortunately, it was closed. As such, we decided to try Pat's Restaurant (we really wanted to taste Cambodian food - it would be our first time), and boy oh boy, were we pleasantly surprised! Together, we ordered four dishes to share: Phanaeng Kai (#1), Samlaw Khmer (#7), Siam Delight (#10), and a special, the stir-fried shrimp, squid with chilli basil leaves, young corn with rice. When the food arrived, we took our first bite - and were unbelievably impressed and blown away by the depth and richness of flavour! Our favourite had to be the Siam Delight. It is a spicy and tangy dish with a slight sweetness that is an explosion of senses. Indeed, it was the only plate that we managed to wipe clean! Even the chillis and basil leaves were amazing. The Phanaeng Kai was a close second favourite. Unlike Thai curry, it has a kick of... lemongrass? peanuts? coconut? all three? Whatever it is, it's delicious and addictive! We finished 95% of this dish, leaving only some rice and sauce left. The special had an overpowering taste of bamboo shoots (which, surprisingly, was not mentioned in the menu description) and unfortunately, as my family dislikes the taste, this was not as impressive. Nevertheless, we finished most of it. The last dish that was not as good (in comparison with the rest; by itself it would still make a good meal but it pales when compared to the other three dishes we ordered) was the Samlaw Khmer. We didn't expect it to taste as strongly of tomatoes, but with that being said, it wasn't just tomato sauce for it still had the tanginess of tamarind. All the dishes were humongous, and beautiful. Too bad we live three hours away, or we would definitely return - and regularly too! read more

If I were to go by purely the food, this restaurant would be rated much lower. However, the service was generally quite friendly and efficient. Despite us only seeing two staff, our cups of water were regularly refilled and the food came quickly, with patient elaborations on the menu items. The environment was clean and simple, which made it a comfortable dining experience. We ordered the green curry chicken, chicken satay, pad Thai and fish cakes. As an Asian tourist dining in the depths of Canada, I did not have very high expectations for the food, but still held hopes due to the generally positive reviews. The fish cakes were smaller than expected (circular discs around 5cm wide) and were rubbery in texture, although they had a subtly discernible flavor that saved it from being a dense dishwashing sponge. They were absolutely drenched in a sweet and sour sauce, which overpowered the already tasteless dish, leaving it without much depth of flavor. The green curry came with a generous pile of rice and green curry chicken. The rice was basically swimming in a pool of watery, limp shredded bamboo (which didn't taste fresh) and chicken chunks. There was a thick film of oil that unappetizingly floated on top of the curry, which threatened to spill over onto the table (and did). Although we were warned that the green curry would be spicy, it did not meet our expectations and was instead only mildly spicy. However, this could be explained by our experience with more authentic Asian food that manipulates a deeper and more purposeful range of spices. The chicken satay came with a similarly heaping amount of mushy & textureless rice, pickled vegetables, and three pieces of chicken. The chicken itself was quite tender but charred (there were many burnt black sections that pervaded into the meat). The peanut sauce did not seem very authentic as it was a smooth blob of brown, like seasoned peanut butter. For three measly pieces of chicken and mushy rice, it was not worth the ~15 dollar price tag. The pad Thai, despite us already expecting a sweet dish, was sweet to a sickly extent. Based solely on the flavor, it seemed like a dessert and was not very complex in terms of layers and seasoning. Perhaps we did not order the more popular items, or signature dishes, but I still expected good food. This was barely passable. In conclusion: large portions, ok service, but terrible and overpriced food. Not worth the rave reviews! read more

I think the problem is this place is too much of a hit or miss. Other than the soup, I don't actually care for anything else. But generally, it's not bad. read more

Real men don't eat tofu. Until you visit this Cambodian restaurant. Yes I do road trips just to sample it. The complexities of flavours, the freshness of the ingredients all make for "exotic & delightful" as claimed by this establishment. The place is a legend. Don't miss it. read more

Cant beat it! Hands down best thai/Cambodian I have ever had. I go here at least 3 times a month, haven't found anywhere that competes. The food speaks for itself, they dont try and fool you with flashy decor and dinnerware. THE REAL DEAL read more

My nephew picked up some pad Thai for us tonight from one of his favorites, Pat's Restaurant. I'm in quarantine, so he just carefully passed this takeout yumminess to me at the door. What a delicious godsend. Lots of chicken and shrimp, and some crazy kind of pickled carrots and some cucumber on the side. Nephew assures me that all the menu items at Pat's are great. Looking forward to trying it all read more

Great food, awesome portion size, good prices and lovely service! Can't really get any better than that :) I wish I had tried this place sooner, I live literally steps away but only tried it recently in my 4th year of Uni here. I've always heard great things and it lived up to my expectations! As a student, I miss home cooked meals so much and Pat's is the closest I can get. I recommend the golden chicken and the vermicelli. Give it a try :) read more

Pat's Restaurant - Vermicelli! - Cambodian Near Me - Kingston, Ontario

One of my favourite restaurants in Kingston! Been here maybe half a dozen times and Pat's never disappoints. The portions are huge without sacrificing quality or taste and the service is always great. Everything is around ~$15 (or cheaper) and I've yet to try a dish I didn't like. Some favourites include Phanaeng Kai (red curry), yellow curry chicken/shrimp, golden chicken, and the cashew chicken. Pad Thai is good as well but nothing special - I personally think there's a lot of better dishes on the menu. If you're not familiar with Cambodian cuisine the waiters will be more than happy to walk you through everything and answer questions, or adjust dishes to your spice preference. Never had an experience with bad service at this place and its always the same people working on the floor and in the kitchen - fairly certain it's family run. That being said, the food is sometimes really quick but has been slow (20 - 30 mins) a few times, so just be weary of that. I personally prefer Pat's over other Cambodian/Thai/SE Asian places in Kingston, even Royal Angkor down the street and Aspara Angkor by the water. The other places have a nicer ambiance for sure if you're looking for that, but Pat's wins on food/portion size/price/service. The great reviews are 100% deserved and I only wish I could meet this legendary "Pat"! :-) read more

Pat's has been around Kingston for a number of years, in different locations, but while the location may change the food is always delicious. There's a reason they win awards as one of the top restaurants in Kingston. I'd like to say I've tried many of the dishes, but I've found my go-to and have no reason to try anything else. First special: red curry beef with sweet potato, peanut, coconut milk and rice. It's unreal. It has just the right amount of kick from the curry and so much flavour. My wife likes #21 and asks for fried tofu and it's also very good. Portion sizes are generous and you'll probably find yourself taking home leftovers, especially if you have an appetizer. The vegetarian spring rolls are a great way to kick off a meal. read more

Definitely one of my favorite Thai places in Kingston. My friend and I went on a weekday night and service was OKAY. Food could have came a little faster and the server did not come back for our order after leaving water. This is understandable as they had two people working the front. Their curry is amazing! Just the right amount of spices and thickness. I had their Thai Red Curry with chicken. The chicken could have been a little more moist but the curry made up for it! I definitely would recommend this place to my Ktown friends :) read more

Pat's was my favorite place in Kingston. His golden chicken is my absolute favorite. The portions are great, and each item in their menu tastes great. After having moved from Kingston to Toronto, the lack of quite Cambodian food in the city is disappointing. Whenever I pass by Kingston, I definitely take a detour for my dose of Pats. read more

Phanaengine kal is very tasty. Sauce with a coconut milk makes this spicy dish smooth and satisfying. The chicken strip is tender and juicy. The cucumber tomato and basil are very fresh but I wish there are way more. I am a good veggie eater read more

Service could've been faster, they were very nice people but definitely understaffed. The servings were huge! And everything was very spicy - even the "mild" curry was unbelievable hot, in my opinion. I would've liked to see a bigger appetizer menu, or something for dessert. read more

Probably my favourite Thai place in Kingston. Great spring rolls, wonderful soups and best BBQ pork of all the Thai spots in town. The curry chicken with rice and coconut milk is great and they do not skimp on the chicken.Dishes may be a bit spicy for some people though but can be toned down. Check it out read more

I love Pat's, in my opinion there Pad Thai is the best in Kingston. Love, love, love it. Reasonably priced and you definatley won't leave hungry. read more

Surprisingly good food. Well priced. Not at all a fancy dining establishment, but great for lunch or dinner on a budget.

Even though the Cambodian spring rolls were outstanding, the rest of the meal was second rate :( The Pad Thai noodles were served as a sticky clump of too sweet noodles with leathery chicken and three shrimp on top - this was by far the worst Pad Thai we have ever eaten (we ate it because we were famished). The Red Curried Beef with Sweet Potato had three slices of sweet potato, six green beans, and the toughest leathery beef, which we cut into 1/4 inch pieces to eat. To quote another review that I just read: "In conclusion: large portions, ok service, but terrible and overpriced food. Not worth the rave reviews!" read more

Superb Cambodian/Asian food. We order once a week. We've tried many Asian places in Kingston and this is so far the best. Quality ingredients and authentic flavours. The Penang is to die for, and the Khmer dishes are winners. read more

It was good but nothing noteworthy. I have heard great things, so maybe we just had bad experience. I guess my high expectations could've set me up though. Safe place, but don't expect to be wowed. Also the appetizer menu was pretty much nonexistent. I think there were four items? read more

Some of my favourite Thai in Kingston. The chicken and pineapple in black bean garlic sauce is awesome!

I love pat's! It's so close to my house and I've recently become a regular there. The servings are pretty huge, and I always get their green curry or red curry (their green curry is pretty spicy!) Service is always very friendly and I just love them :) read more

This place has horrible service and you can hear people yelling from the kitchen. The food is average and not worth it. The restaurant looks run down and it is loud. The older staff stare at people from the window at night when the restaurant is closed as they are walking by. read more

Another great Cambodian/Thai place in Kingston by the original guy? Everything is good - especially the golden chicken, spicy tofu, red curry chicken, and spring rolls. I think the vermicelli and pad thai are both good too but I only had them once ages ago. I love that I don't have to drive downtown from the highway to get Cambodian food now. read more

Love, love, love this place. My favorite food in Kingston hands down. This family run restaurant may not have the high end look some restaurant goers prefer, but if you love delicious, authentic Cambodian cuisine that very well priced and comes in a portion large enough for big appetites this is the place. I usually get two meals out of my order and my hubby always leaves stuffed. I recommend any green curry if you like it really spicy. I've introduced many of my friends and coworkers to this place and everyone has really enjoyed it. read more

Excellent taste..be careful it's real spicy. ..staff are very polite and smily.. we loved it. Location is great as well.
