Mekong Vietnamese Restaurant 8/10 Looking for a warm meal on a cold Kingston day? Try Mekong, right beside the Princess St Burger King! This restaurant offers good pho in downtown Kingston with nice authentic broth and decent-quality meat. We got the pho with beef, brisket, beef balls and tripe (6c). Note: they add the herbs and bean sprouts directly to the bowl rather than having it on the side. (Tip: if you're not a fan of cilantro, ask to have it removed when ordering) **Follow @smfoodd on Instagram for more!

Decent Vietnamese food. My personal favourite is the dry vercicelli with grilled pork and spring rolls. The noodles were a bit soft but they did an amazing job on marinating and grilling the meat. The space was large and airy. Service was attentive and warm. I would suggest parking on the nearby streets rather than the plaza next to the restaurant since it is very packed

My friend and I were craving some Vietnamese food and happened to be in the area so we decided to stop by. Their menu had a wide variety of options, including vegetarian options and bubble tea as well! We came in relatively early on in the night and were one of the only few guests in the restaurant, but by the time that we left, the whole restaurant was basically full. Our food came relatively quickly and we started munching away when my friend suddenly noticed that there was a long black hair in my dish! I quickly glanced at the kitchen and noticed that all of the female chefs were cooking with their hair loose - not tied up or with a hairnet, which is pretty unsettling! Luckily, the waiter handled it really well by apologizing and asking if I wanted a new dish to be made. The rest of the meal was good and the food is adequately priced for the amount and quality that you get. Overall, I'd like to think that my hair incident was a one-off. In which case, I'd say Mekong is a decent place to get Vietnamese food if you're in the area, but not worth going out of your way for.

The food was very good. The portion is pretty big. A nice pho spot in kingston. Place is big and has cozy vibes and is very busy normally

The best Vietnamese spot in Kingston. You can never go wrong with their pho or bowls of vermicelli, highly recommend eating here.

Great pho - especially for a place like Kingston. I recommend the #7 chicken pho. Really fast service too, even when they're busy!

Bun thit nuong's slightly more expensive than other places but it's pretty good! Will come back for other items on the menu.

Decent Vietnamese food, and pretty cheap. I like to take my parents here when they come to visit me.

To be honest one of the worst tasting "viet / Thai" food that I have had. Super unauthentic because I believe it is owned & made by Chinese people. My shrimp roll was basically 95% white vermicelli with 3 shrimps that were sliced in halves and a big piece of lettuce ... all I tasted was white bland noodles. The sauce they gave was very thin and runny (I think water mixed with hoisin sauce?) I didn't know it was possible to have a viet salad roll gone wrong.. The beef noodle was verrry basic at most, very little beef pieces and 50% random vegetables mixed into the noodle. Tasted very much like something out of a food court.. if you are used to the typical and authentic Thai / Viet food you will be highly disappointed with it here. But it seems like Kingston doesn't have much viet/Thai restaurants to compare to.

Hoa is an incredible representative of the family business, she will get to know you quickly and she makes sure everything is perfect. I love that I can get a gluten free modified meal that tastes amazing quickly. I order for myself, but also for the whole team at work regularly! highly recommend.

I probably come here more than any other restaurant in town. I know the food will be reliably good…read more The owner and the other servers are friendly and warm, and they get to know their regulars. It's also easier to park here compared to the parent Saigon Delights establishment downtown. Food highlights at More Saigon Delights include: The pho is very good. It's a toss up between this place and Mekong for the best pho in Kingston. The broth here is lighter and more "plain" and that's not meant to be a criticism. It's a clearer, more refreshing broth in the pho at More Saigon Delights. Mekong pho has a heavier, beefier broth. Mekong's beef is better though -- that's the only place in Kingston where pho is served with rare sliced beef that's still rare when they set the bowl down in front of you. Back to the pho at More Saigon Delights: you will get a lemon to squeeze, and a little dish of sriracha and hoisin for adding to your bowl or for dipping. Other items like cilantro and bean sprouts will already be in your bowl of pho. Some die hard pho aficionados insist on the plate of garnishes; well, you won't find that in Kingston so you'll have to do with this way (already added to the bowl). The rice dishes at More Saigon Delights are all very good too. Excellent level of spice, lots of veggies (if in the dish) and the beef/chicken/pork that's in the dish is usually perfectly prepared. Their fried hu tieu (fried noodles) is good-to-very good. Lastly, their bun is a Kingston favourite. Can't go wrong with the bun cha gio #5 or #6 (with grilled meat) because the cha gio (deep fried spring rolls) are excellent here. I think you aren't likely to walk away from here thinking this was the "best" Vietnamese you've ever had. But, each time you finish eating here, you will walk away thinking "yes, that was really good again"...and the same next time...and again when you're back the next time, and at last you realize why it is you come here more often than other restaurants in town.

We came here for a late lunch, seeking some warm soup amidst the drizzling weather outside…read more Cambodiana has been open for many years now, but my boyfriend (a Queens grad) has never been... but no time like the present! The place takes only debit or cash, so don't forget to bring more than just your credit card! We shared a pad thai, a Cambodiana (green curry based) soup, and then got an iced coffee to go. All were soooo good!! The Cambodiana had a slight kick, but was quite milky rich with coconut milk. It was loaded with chicken strips and bamboo shoots. It basically tastes like a flavourful, watered down green curry... but I'm not complaining! The pad thai was not greasy nor too soft / soggy. There were a few pieces of plump shrimp and the portion sizes were very generous! We were stuffed upon finishing the two mains, and even had to leave some rice behind. I had a coffee craving, so we got a coffee before leaving. At first, I was shocked by the price tag (almost $6 for a one size / small), but the iced coffee was so smooth and rich. It basically tasted like a Vietnamese iced coffee, but much less stringent and not as sweet. A lot of effort was also put into it, with small crushed up bits of ice that quickly cooled down the drink. Delicious! Would love to come back again for Cambodian food.

Excellent food with great, hearty portions! I had the tofu pad thai with Thai style stir-fried…read morenoodles with fried tofu, green onion, bean sprouts, and roasted peanuts which was delicious! I liked that there was a good amount of peanuts sprinkled on the pad thai, giving it texture, and the tofu was soft, tasty, and altogether fantastic. I also tried some of the panang curry tofu which, served with a base of coconut milk, tasted fresh and yummy. One of my favourite parts of this restaurant was its ambience -- it's a homey and cozy place and it was fairly quiet when I went on a Wednesday evening. Their hours are pretty limited though (until 8pm on all nights and they're closed on Sundays) so I would keep an eye out for that. Our server was excellent and the location of the restaurant is pretty sweet too -- right in front of the hospital with all the downtown bus stops. I will definitely be back!
