This is my go-to Thai spot in Kingston. I've tried other Thai restaurants around the city, but this one always hits the flavors just right. The Mango Tasting Platter is perfect if you love variety, or if you and someone else are having trouble choosing something to share. The Coconut Sticky Rice is amazing--warm, sweet, and definitely an underrated dish. Their Spicy Garlic Beef with Asian Egg Noodles is also a crowd favorite. read more

On a trip to Kingston we were craving Thai and picked Mango based on reviews. I ordered the red Thai curry, he had the green curry. Some people mentioned that the chefs are heavy handed with the spice, and were they ever right. I ordered my red curry with medium spice (mild was not an option), and it was far too spicy for my palate. Not only was I disappointed by the spice, but the red curry didn't have much flavour. If you dine here, skip the red curry. The menu is so large that I'm sure there are many other great options. read more

Mango Thai had a great selection of food. We ordered the beef egg noodles, the mango chicken and the red curry. When they say spicy, they mean spicy. The food was delicious. Mango juice was not that great, but try the mango smoothie instead. The beef was really juicy and delicious. The red coconut curry was great, but the broccoli was a little bitter. The mango chicken was perfect, crunchy but with a touch of mango sauce. We upgraded the jasmine rice that came with with the curry to coconut sticky rice. It was fresh and was presented in a bamboo leaf, which was cute. Overall very enjoyable. Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere was quite simple and clean. read more

My first impression of the restaurant was that the appearance was very authentic. It gave me hopes that the food would be as well. I ordered the Mango Shrimp and I was wrong. The shrimp was mediocre and the mangos were stiff and sour as if they came they came from an improperly stored can. I also found that the curry was nothing special. My friends and I came in to eat dinner - one of my friends cannot eat meat and ordered a vegetable eggplant stir fry. However, she was very unsatisfied with the meal and did not enjoy the flavour - she asked to send it back hoping for a refund. The manager refused to give any sort of refund or compensation and they threw out the meal before telling us this so we could not even get it packed for myself. My friend ended up paying $32 (with tax and tip) for a meal that she ate a bite or two from... very disappointed with the service and their adaptability to customer tastes and needs. read more

Visited Mango again to get away from a crappy cottage we rented 60 mins north of Kingston. So maybe it was the cottage cuisine or maybe we just plain old hungry, but the food this time around was delicious and yum yum to boot. The staff were wonderfully pleasant -- maybe it's a Kingston thing -- and they gave us the very front of the restaurant so the kids could look out the window and entertain themselves with the impending collision between a transit bus and a mini-van. Never been to a more hit or miss restaurant in my life. The food is okay; portions small but they are tasty. Rhe service though is atrocious. Last time I went with my friend we were seated and given menus then totally ignored for 20 minutes. Yes the place was busy but when they went and took an order from a table of 4 that came in 10 minutes after us, walking past us to do so, we grabbed our jackets and left. I loved the food at Mango ten years ago (when I was a student) and I love it even now when I tried it yesterday. The "Tasting Platter" is something I really like. The service is quick, the food is very delicious, the staff is friendly and the choices are many. They can make food "mild" if you want to. If you want to try an entree, explore the curry dishes. With coconut milk added to it, it's really yummy. The food is great and the five stars is because they keep their washrooms clean (which a lot of restaurants neglect). Mango probably has some of the best thai food in Kingston. We have a whole whack of Vietnamese places and a smattering of Indian eateries but in the Thai department Mango reigns with not a whole lot of competition. I always order some form of the Thai Veggie Curry (they have 5 different options!), which are cheap (10 bucks!) and very filling (roll me out). Their appetizers are also good and they have some great rolls. I also recommend the veggie peanut stir fry...Delicious. The only reason why I don't give Mango the extra 4th star is the service. It can be really spotty. Sometimes it'll be packed in there but you can get in and out in about an hour, other times it will be half full and you'll wait 45 minutes just to be served (note I didn't actually wait that long, a friend of mine did). But I've found that if you give the wait staff a gentle reminder of your existence they hop right to it and you're all set for the night. So if you're super hungry for Thai food in Kingston Mango is a must. They also have takeout if you want to stock up on Thai cuisine and head home or to the waterfront. read more

The inside ambiance is nicer than the outside would suggest. Price is very reasonable, you can get an entree for about $10 and it's a hefty portion. The Pad Thai was too sweet for my taste, it was overwhelming after the first could bites. For a first visit, I enjoyed Mango. Food was fresh, service was good, and since the place was busy, I think they did a good job of managing a serious amount of customers. I had the pad thai, as that's my go-to thai dish to compare all thai restaurants against each other, and I think this was pretty good. Quick turnaround for food, friendly servers. I had the fresh vegetable rolls which were FANTASTIC. Fresh, chewy, and came with hoisin sauce. My entree was the mango chicken, which was overall, lackluster. As it was fried chicken, it basically tasted like chicken balls drowning in plum sauce with a few vegetables in the bowl. I had a hard time finishing it, very very sweet. My date ordered the cumin beef and it tasted very nice though. I was hesitant to try anything marked spicy but next time I think I'll avoid anything that sounds like it's on the sweet end of the spectrum, and based on everything else I tried, I feel that I will enjoy my next meal more. Deep fried bananas for dessert (which you can get with or without ice cream), yum yum yum. Alot of Thai/Chinese eateries in Kingston but this one is pretty reliable for a cheap filling meal. The lunch specials are huge and the thai curry is pretty tasty. Service is definitely sub par especially if it's packed. The space is pretty cramped and covered in 1980's Asian kitsch. Pretty good misc Asian food. I ordered the Malaysian Chicken Curry w/ coconut sticky rice and the Satay Chicken. The Satay chicken was pretty good. The accompanying mango salad stole the plate though. The mango was very fresh. The peanut sauce was pretty bland. The Malaysian Curry was ok. Pretty good food there! One of the more popular joints for Thai food in Kingston. I like their curry chicken. The sauces are always overwhelming. In a way it makes the food really rich. However I find that the portions that they serve are generally too little to be filling. Roommates and I ordered in and we were not disappointed! While they ordered dishes such as pad thai, sweet and sour chicken, and spicy chicken, I went the Vietnamese route and got the rice noodle dish with grilled pork and spring rolls! Awesome. We are in Canada for university visits and this has been our best dinner yet. We had the fresh shrimp and fresh veggie rolls - very good. The Tom Yum Soup (comes in 4 versions) was very good. A word of caution for some allergies - it contain coconut milk. The entrees were great. Cashew chicken and Basil were the most popular. Although the food here is excellent the delivery of food is questionable. I have to give it a 2 star for service. We were here waiting for our food for over an hour. We were a party of 6. We had to say something before we got our appetizers and soup. There was another group of 6 that was here 30 minutes after we ordered and they got their food before us. The excuse was they were preparing our food to bring it out all at once. He do you explain the other party of 6? No excuse. It wasn't that busy when we got here and people that came after we did, got their food, ate and left before we got our food. It will be a while before we come here again. Came here from Alexandria Bay because there's nothing to eat there and we were glad we found this spot. Great prices and great food. Got some panang curry and while it was tasty, there was a heck of a lot more sauce than anything else. For $12 an entree thai food (typically not too expensive), I would expect a heck of a lot of at least VEGETABLES. Would I come back? For a lunch special, definitely. read more

The customer service here is amazing! The host was such a nice dude. The menu was pretty extensive, and the portion sizes were pretty decent. I went in with a vegan & someone who's gluten free & there were options for everyone. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the veg pad thai, highly recommend it! read more
