Smoked Highet
Michelle N.

My family and I wanted a snack after our 1000 island cruise, and we saw that this place had different types of poutine. We had the Smoked Highet and also the Classic Poutine but with onion rings. They both satisfied our hunger, but the onion rings got too soggy because they put too much gravy over it. Probably wouldn't order it again. The Smoked Highet was good because the brisket was well stewed, but there was very little meat. I liked their Classic Caesar though, since I love Bloody Marys. I would say Tommy's is a place to satisfy the munchies, but don't expect anything more than that.

Very popular with students. By the time we left, the place was full and we were decades older than every single person there. They've got a great menu with lots of interesting items on the menu like beer battered fish and chips with lime and pepper chips added to the batter. You can even get perogies as a side. Our waitress was very pleasant and service was good but my buffalo chicken wrap didn't have a whole lot of chicken in it and it was ok but nothing great. My husband rated his avacado toast a 3 out of five as well.

1st time visiting this place had a lot of good reviews so thought we'd check it out. Have to say, not impressed bacon was soaking in grease, homefries suggy, oily and tasteless. Asked, for eggs over easy soft, came yokes hard and dry. Would I recommend or visit again? Don't think so it is mediocre at best. Unsatisfied customers

Been here a few times, this was my first time sober though. The food is well priced and they have some really creative dishes. The server was nice and the restaurant itself was clean. The music was super loud though and I didn't really get the theme, they should work on their play list. Overall it was a really good meal in a very retro designed diner.

"There were lots of young folks inside, some hip-hop music and social seating. The walls were lined with Harley posters, old Coke ads and other vintage signs." "We walked past the humming booth tables on a vintage checkered floor towards the foosball table to practice our shots. No coins needed!" Just a few bites from our full experience..

Tommy himself grabbed a menu out of my hands that I was actively reading to give to some girl he was talking to beside me. That was neat.

This place is pretty poppin' on a Sunday. Talk about popular brunch spots. First come, first…read moreserved, no reservations. I know this place exists because of their generosity to Camp Outlook. They have absolutely 100% scrumptious bread! And baked goodies. I love their dinner buns. They are made in this pull-a-part style and absolutely delicious to accompany soup, or toasted with butter, or, Pb&J, or cheese. Almost anything really, you can't go wrong. I was in Kingston recently and really wanted those dinner buns, unfortunately they didn't have them. Not on Sunday, not on Monday. I settled for their mini olive and rosemary dinner rolls. They were good too. Service here is pretty on point. There was a question I had asked the lady behind the counter and she came out from behind the counter to help answer any questions I had and serve me. She was really awesome! They have a catering menu, a cafe for brunch, they have fresh breads available and they do specialty cakes. They are totally the real deal. AND they sell Neal Brothers' cheese puffs. Havent been able to find these bad boys anywhere. They discontinued them in grocery retailers and health food stores don't seem to carry them. I'm in Toronto and havent been able to find them for a couple of years. They are a pretty penny, yet worth it for the sheer pleasure. Their store front is spacious and inviting. Certainly the place to be, everyone seemed to be walking in when I went. It is very well known. They can for sure accomodate a large amount of people. I would most definitely revisit when Im in the city next.

Well, we didn't expect this experience when we went to Kingston! We were on our way to a hardware…read morestore, but got lead astray (yes, Yelp can still do that to us on occasion! the location noted had closed or moved! Ok, COVID doesn't help, as this is happening more frequently these days!!) Needing to recharge and regroup to figure out where we are going and make it to the hardware store, we were hungry and needed better sustenance than is usually provided in a coffee shop. After looking around a bit, we ended up on Kingston's Princess street, and chose to try this place out. First of all, it's deceiving from the outside: it looks way smaller than it really is, like a bakery outlet with a reasonable variety of baked goods on offer. However, there's a back portion where customers can eat in the store. Being that we're still getting used to the "new normal", we weren't ready to dine in, and wanted a seat outside. **Note: to get a seat on the patio, you actually have to go outside to find the hostess and request a table. It was a Sunday afternoon, and they were doing a booming business! But the wait was not long. We had a hard time choosing from the menu; there are a LOT of options! I was expecting a beautiful bakery selection but it was more sandwiches and other unusual, eclectic meals. We eventually chose a burger for hubby, and a shrimp sandwich for me, with a regular coffee for him and Café au lait for me. The Café was great, and even came with a wafer cookie. The wait was not long for our meals. OK, to be honest, I was not expecting to have my sinuses cleared out while I ate, but the food was so spicy to me, also with an after bite, that I was blowing my nose throughout the meal! Not a good look during COVID (sad face!) Worse, I picked up the great big sandwich to take a bite and a shrimp rolled off the top and fell to the ground! Very sad! These shrimps were lightly breaded and quite tasty! No wonder they gave me a fork and knife! Note to self: use cutlery! Here's the great part: one of the servers, went over and above, beyond the call of duty, and got me another shrimp!! It was so prettily laid out on a lettuce leaf, and quite hot - so fresh! Kudos for that!! I will have to bear this experience in mind for next time we visit Kingston, when we are looking for somewhere different to eat.

Service was pretty attentive and our waitress was phenomenal and really upbeat and sweet. They were on it with the refills too. I really thought the kids would love their food, but they just picked at it during the dinner. What kid says no to waffle fries and a hot dog? Apparently the hot dog looked to juicy? lol. My french fry loving son, had no issues with his fries but skipped the chicken nuggets. My poor husband had to polish off whatever was not eaten by our kids after he ate his burger and poutine. I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Super cute. It was pretty pricey coming to around $100 after everything was paid out. I'd probably come back for some apps and small bites in the future when visiting in town.

Music is noticeable but not overpowering, supplementing the many conversations going on around us. Wait staff were on the ball and just generally really nice people! Lots of mix and match burger options, including chicken and vegan proteins. You select your burger, protein, type of bun including gluten free, and any customizations. The waitress pointed out one element on the burger I wanted on a GF bun would have gluten and suggested removing it, which I appreciated. Lots of drink options too. This is, overall, a 'something for everyone' experience.
