Steamed eggs, soggy potatoes, greasy bacon, and un-ripe fruit :-(
    Ray B.

As I'm not a big fan of breakfast at hotels and due to COVID the hotel I was staying at wasn't offering anything for breakfast, I decided to give Eggsquis a try. Ever notice how if your by yourself you get seated in the most dreary table. Well that's where they seated me, in the travel isle for the staff between the kitchen and the wooden half wall (I note anyone who is sitting in this area can hear all that is said in the kitchen) Normally I would have asked to be seated somewhere else but as I was quite hungry I just let it go. The waitress was quite pleasant and efficient and was quick to get me started with coffee and got my order taken care of. So onto the food, I'm of the opinion if I can make it better than they can, they're doing something wrong. I ordered what I would consider to be a basic American style breakfast, two eggs sunny side up, bacon, potatoes, toast, garnished with fresh fruit. Eggs were steamed and not sunny side up, bacon was greasy, toast was soggy (isn't the definition of toast to make warm and crispy) and slathered with some sort of spread, potatoes were deep fried and soggy (had been sitting around for quite a while), and the fruit was hard and un-ripe (poor quality). It would seem to me if I was a waitress and a number of plates were being taken away with un-eaten food on them, I would inquire with the customer if everything was to my satisfaction. Maybe they just don't care or maybe they have asked and nothing is ever done about it. Anyway when I don't get asked why I didn't eat my food, I don't volunteer the information and just don't come back and or write a review. All in all quite a sub par breakfast and I wouldn't recommend. In the future I will look for a local diner as they seem to know how to make breakfast.

$7.50 plus taxes people! That includes a carafe of coffee!!

Solid breakfast in Kingston township. Can't complain for breakfast under $10 in my opinion! Service was friendly and quick. Liked how they bring you an entire carafe of coffee to enjoy with your meal, makes things so much easier! My eggs were cooked perfectly and I liked the small selection of fresh fruit on my plate. I could see how this place would be just hopping on the weekends in Kingston ;) Definitely would return if I am in the area again. I would like to try their sweet breakfast options as they looked very tasty!

Amazing breakfast/brunch. Place is cozy, employees are polite. Plates are huge, but still we wanted to try the crepes after the meal. We couldnt finish them. Crepes are also very big. I would definitely recommend this place!

The original bacon and eggs and the Eggstreme.

I read some of the reviews and noticed plenty of 5 stars and then noticed one with 2 stars who complained about not serving pancakes and complaining about the quality for the price. If you want the typical greasy spoon, this is not the place. You will notice a bright, spacious, clean restaurant. TV screens displaying their menu items. We were seated and served promptly. Served with a nice hot cup of coffee along and a thermal pot so you can fill your own without waiting for a refill. Fresh OJ from freshly squeezed oranges and not from concentrate. The menu looks delicious and the hard part is what to order. I learned that the franchise is based out of Quebec with 38 of them there and only 2 in Ontario. One in Belleville and one in Kingston. You can order the typical bacon and eggs but I wanted something different. I ordered the Eggstreme. Served in a casserole dish were home fries, peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, Swiss cheese, bacon, ham, and sausage. Covered with hollandaise sauce and topped with an egg. You may think it's heavy but surprisingly fresh and delicious served with fresh fruit and toast on the side. So 5 stars from me for not being the typical greasy spoon

Yummy! Delicious! Tons of fresh fruit. Service was excellent, the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable. Our meals came quickly. It's a bit pricey but excellent value. Portion sizes are large and presentation is beautiful. We will definitely be back.

They don't treat you as if you matter less or try to stick you at a bar. The restaurant was busy but I was seated right away. There is a bakery attached, but I didn't go over since I'm gluten-free and hate looking if I don't know in advance they have goodies I can eat. I always vet my restaurants in advance with the dietary restriction and there were excellent options for those GF. I ordered the Peach, Pineapple and Coconut mimosa. I HATE peach, but she was able to make it with just the other two. They put coconut cream around the side of the glass. EXCELLENT mimosa. One of the best I ever had. I also ordered the Pork & Tomatillo Tostada. This came on these crispy corn tortillas. I'm a huge texture person...that was amazing. The pork was delicious. There were also scrambled eggs, this delicious sauce, cheese, herbs and tomatoes. Absolute yum. I would eat this every day of the week! There were also potatoes on the side, which were very tasty. Service was perfect. Brenda was my server. She made sure I had everything I needed. She did forget I was GF and brought me a cookie from the bakery. It wasn't GF, but the gesture was nice. They also had a colourful sign over the front window advertising local vendors, which was that nice, small town touch. Very cute place, convenient location. Good service and delicious food. I will definitely return when I visit Kingston again.

I know this place exists because of their generosity to Camp Outlook. They have absolutely 100% scrumptious bread! And baked goodies. I love their dinner buns. They are made in this pull-a-part style and absolutely delicious to accompany soup, or toasted with butter, or, Pb&J, or cheese. Almost anything really, you can't go wrong. I was in Kingston recently and really wanted those dinner buns, unfortunately they didn't have them. Not on Sunday, not on Monday. I settled for their mini olive and rosemary dinner rolls. They were good too. Service here is pretty on point. There was a question I had asked the lady behind the counter and she came out from behind the counter to help answer any questions I had and serve me. She was really awesome! They have a catering menu, a cafe for brunch, they have fresh breads available and they do specialty cakes. They are totally the real deal. AND they sell Neal Brothers' cheese puffs. Havent been able to find these bad boys anywhere. They discontinued them in grocery retailers and health food stores don't seem to carry them. I'm in Toronto and havent been able to find them for a couple of years. They are a pretty penny, yet worth it for the sheer pleasure. Their store front is spacious and inviting. Certainly the place to be, everyone seemed to be walking in when I went. It is very well known. They can for sure accomodate a large amount of people. I would most definitely revisit when Im in the city next.

Ok, COVID doesn't help, as this is happening more frequently these days!!) Needing to recharge and regroup to figure out where we are going and make it to the hardware store, we were hungry and needed better sustenance than is usually provided in a coffee shop. After looking around a bit, we ended up on Kingston's Princess street, and chose to try this place out. First of all, it's deceiving from the outside: it looks way smaller than it really is, like a bakery outlet with a reasonable variety of baked goods on offer. However, there's a back portion where customers can eat in the store. Being that we're still getting used to the "new normal", we weren't ready to dine in, and wanted a seat outside. **Note: to get a seat on the patio, you actually have to go outside to find the hostess and request a table. It was a Sunday afternoon, and they were doing a booming business! But the wait was not long. We had a hard time choosing from the menu; there are a LOT of options! I was expecting a beautiful bakery selection but it was more sandwiches and other unusual, eclectic meals. We eventually chose a burger for hubby, and a shrimp sandwich for me, with a regular coffee for him and Café au lait for me. The Café was great, and even came with a wafer cookie. The wait was not long for our meals. OK, to be honest, I was not expecting to have my sinuses cleared out while I ate, but the food was so spicy to me, also with an after bite, that I was blowing my nose throughout the meal! Not a good look during COVID (sad face!) Worse, I picked up the great big sandwich to take a bite and a shrimp rolled off the top and fell to the ground! Very sad! These shrimps were lightly breaded and quite tasty! No wonder they gave me a fork and knife! Note to self: use cutlery! Here's the great part: one of the servers, went over and above, beyond the call of duty, and got me another shrimp!! It was so prettily laid out on a lettuce leaf, and quite hot - so fresh! Kudos for that!! I will have to bear this experience in mind for next time we visit Kingston, when we are looking for somewhere different to eat.
