Burnt pancakes for Old Farm Breakfast
    Vivian H.

Decided to go to this diner for breakfast during my first visit at Kingston. It was a recommendation to go to since a lot of breakfast places downtown were busy on a Sunday morning. Sadly there was still about a 20 minute wait for a table here so just be aware that you'll have to wait! The staff was moderately friendly but not super attentive. When water or coffee was low, we repeatedly asked for refills for our table of 5. As well, we waited over 30 minutes for food and asked twice for follow ups. The attitude was not the warmest when I asked but a response of "it is busy but your food will arrive" without anyone actually checking on our order. Once the food arrived, the toast was a bit browner and dryer than I'd like (but that's personal preference) and the pancakes were burnt sadly. Overall the food wasn't impressive and not worth the wait. It is possible I was unlucky and got a bad experience. I really did want to like this place but I'm afraid I won't be going back.

This is a cute diner with blazing fast service, but the food just really wasn't great. We ordered the $15 large breakfast meal and split it 2 ways. It was the perfect amount of food. There were a few things on the plate. The potatoes were outstanding - super yummy and not too mushy. The eggs, sausage, and toast were alright. The pancakes were the problem - they didn't taste fresh. We could have sworn that they tasted exactly similar to the pancake mixes where you only have to add water. We were really looking forward to a fresh stack of pancakes, so they were a big disappointment. We want to highlight the service speed; our food literally showed up in 5 minutes, which was super convenient. All in all, would probably not go back unless looking for reasonably priced food in a rush.

    The Old Farm Style

Standard breakfast food for cheap in a homey, local diner! This place is popular with locals and is a hidden gem for students. This diner has traditional breakfast options for super cheap and good quality. I always get the Old Farm Style but I've had it with the sausage and bacon, both of which were good. I love coming here because the service is always great (the people are super friendly) and perfect for inexpensive homemade breakfast. PS. To a previous review stating that they are rude to foreigners, I completely disagree! They have been nothing but kind each of the 4-5 times I've gone.

    Perfect breakfast.

Perfect eggs just as ordered, over soft, nice chunk of ham and real home fries. Good service, quite busy for breakfast. Clean and fast.

Peter's Place is an institution among the , "where to eat breakfast" places in Kingston and one of my favourite places to eat breakfast on the planet. There's a reason why it's completely full every Saturday and Sunday morning - all morning. It seems that for the most part that you'll always have to wait for a table, though I've never waited more than 10 or so minutes for one. The staff is great and often just brings my girlfriend and I our tea and coffee when we sit. I always get # 13, which is the Big Farmer's Breakfast. $ 8.95 gets you 3 pancakes, 2 fresh eggs, sausage or ham or bacon, pan fried potatoes and a set of toast. I challenge you to find a better value or tasting breakfast in Kingston. If you're looking for a "drink your coffee - read the paper" type of place then this isn't it. I love the, "eat and get out because someone is waiting" atmosphere. A great little place that's well worth a visit.

If you want to gorge yourself on breakfast food on a budget, this is the place to go. I had the cheese omelette with home fries and an order of pancakes. The food was okay. Not amazing. But the portion sizes were enormous. I came in for Sunday brunch just before noon. We were seated immediately, but the place was full. We were lucky there was a table open. As we sat there and started eating, we noticed a line beginning to form at the door. By the time we had finished, there were two groups of four and two groups of three waiting to be seated. We seemed to arrive at just the right time.

Experiences like visiting this place convinces me the credibility of yelp. Great food with great service. Servers are adorable and very helpful. Food is not fancy but they do it right and take good care of every detail. You will not be disappointed.

A great place for a quick, cheap breakfast. Service is good and the food is average but still tasty. The potatoes/hash browns may not appeal to everyone, as they have a slight BBQ seasoning/tomato ketchup flavouring to them. I can speak for the pancakes though, and they are yummy!

Inside had a relaxed welcoming Egg dinner vibe. We had the classic and umami burgers with the nut salad replacing the standard fries. Patties were a generous 6 oz. Burger was very flavourful. The umami was stuffed with lots of different ingredients. (Too many for me to remember off hand). Both were delicious. The health nut salad was delicious too. I really thought the kids would love their food, but they just picked at it during the dinner. What kid says no to waffle fries and a hot dog? Apparently the hot dog looked to juicy? lol. My french fry loving son, had no issues with his fries but skipped the chicken nuggets. My poor husband had to polish off whatever was not eaten by our kids after he ate his burger and poutine. I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Super cute. It was pretty pricey coming to around $100 after everything was paid out. I'd probably come back for some apps and small bites in the future when visiting in town.

We scoped out a few places and landed here for a change from the typical pub vibe, Italian pasta joints around the corner, or chains like Jack Astor's. We beat the lunch crowd, arriving just before 2 PM. Service was great--we were seated immediately and ordered a few tapas: some roasted Brussels sprouts and a selection of meat options including Persian BBQ lamb, achiote grilled chicken, and sticky pork ribs. The chicken was my least favorite, though it wasn't bad. Everything else was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I'd really like to come back another time for proper drinks--they have an impressive wine list and a nice selection of sangrias that caught my eye. The place is open and bright wherever you sit, whether on the outdoor patio, downstairs by the bar, or upstairs. Service was excellent. My reservation was smoothly handled, and my server took good care of me. I got offeres some bread and butter after I ordered, which was really a nice surprise. The offered breads were seeded, ollve, and rustic style. All delicious, especially with the sweet butter. For the main meal, I got a half dozen oysters, an order of cha gio and their Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad. The cha gio were crispy, not greasy, sweet and savoury. The oysters were super fresh, sweet and a good size. Along with the usual condiments, they included pickled red onion, which is the first time I've ever had this. I really enjoyed the acidic sweet bite enhancing the sweetness of the oysters. The Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad had microgreens, red cabbage, red and green and yellow sweet pepper, red chili pepper, edamame, coriander, green onions, and fried parsnip chips. The Ahi was charred on the outside, fresh and meaty. I appreciate that the sesame oil, soy sauce and hint of chili on the perfectly chewy noodles was separate from the veggies. The vegetables had a very clean flavour, but I would have liked something more, maybe a touch of citrus. A glass of good wine rounded out the whole experience. I was way too full at the end of the meal to even contemplate dessert. All in all, a great meal, and I would return any time.
