    Lots of great drink options

Swung by Red House for a dinner before a show and our table of 7 was thoroughly impressed with everything. Great service and fresh food in an inviting environment, what more could you ask for?

The shrimp taco was so good. Loved the ambiance with dimmed lights. Great cocktails too!

    Pork cheek tacos

Slightly offbeat bar food selections, prepared very well. I ordered pork cheek tacos with a small arugula salad on the side. The first bite of each told me I was not staring down an average pub meal. The pork was very tender, and the mango-jalapeno salsa--sweet and hot enough to register, but not enough to overpower the meat--suited it perfectly. The fruit and pepper in the salsa were minced to as small as they could possibly be and maintain a cube shape--that takes some effort and careful attention, and it paid off. The feta and the avocado crema added a creaminess that somehow amplified the flavors of the sandwich and made them linger through each bite. The side salad was no mere afterthought. Baby arugula leaves were fresh, lightly drizzled with an excellent sherry vinaigrette. A little parmesan gave it some funk to offset the vinegar bite. My wife got the striploin sandwich. She said the beef had good flavor, and she liked the basil aioli on it. The cheddar on top was applied with a light enough hand so it didn't upstage the beef, but generously enough that it didn't skulk beneath it. On a previous visit to Kingston my wife had the chicken club (real chicken breast, not lunchmeat) and liked it a lot. I was glad she recommended we go there last night. Service was great...friendly, attentive, and some the quickest we've had at any sit-down restaurant in Kingston. Really nothing here not to like.

While visiting Kingston for an event, my parents, bf and I were looking for a place to eat dinner. A local had suggested this resturant, telling us that it was a nice gastro pub with fairly good food and a nice selection of beers. The interior of the resturant gave off a good ambiance and was fairly spacious with a several spots to sit at both the front and back. Onto the food; I had chosen a daily special - a vegetarian agnolotti, which was actually more of a ravioli as the filled pasta was massive. It was however the most tasty dish among what my parents and bf had ordered. My bf ordered a braised venison which he thought was going to be a large slab of meat he could cut into, but was more of a ground up venison that was placed ontop of mashed potatoes and was pretty much a sheppard pie. My parents who both ordered the pan seared trout, enjoyed their fish, but had wished that they were asked how they would like it to be cooked as it was slightly dry and a bit overcooked for their liking.

My husband and I are passing through town and needed a place to eat dinner. I glanced through yelp and decided on this place. We managed to get a table outside. The waiter was very attentive and knew the menu and drink list. We both ordered beer, the wheat beer was good. My husband had a darker red beer and liked it. This restaurant has amazing food and even better service! My review is splitting hairs because it was that good. We started with the house smoked meat and cheese the meat was smoked well and delicious. The cheese was sharp and buttery. The grainy mustard was a perfect compliment to the meat and cheese. For dinner I had the duck breast. It was a little over cooked. I prefer my duck to be medium rare or medium. Rosy pink on the inside and this was more well. The outside was crispy and seasoned well, which made up for it. The wilted spinach, mushrooms, and onions were a great addition, earthy. The beets were a little too much. The cut up ones were good with the goat cheese, but the spiraled ones were too much. I would have pickled one of them to have contrasting flavors. The bowl was also not a great choice. It was hard to eat. My husband's meal was good, but small. He had the jerk chicken leg with polenta. He would have liked 1 legs instead of one. The jerk rub was good and the chicken was juicy. The polenta was perfect, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall we would definitely come back to this place! Delicious food, great service, and to make it even sweeter, they give out soft fleece blankets for the patio if you get cold.

I've been to the Red House several times and this time it was exceptional. The service is always great here and the drinks and cocktails are made by pros. The food here is always good and always changing. Their duck wings were outstanding (I love duck wings) and their beef cheek with polenta was simply perfect. I would go back tomorrow if I could.

Pork Belly sandwich & poutine was delicious!

Being a food influencer from Miami, I was definitely excited to explore Kingston's food scene. My boyfriend and I had spent the day browsing around on foot, desperately in need of a beer before our return to Wolfe Island. I was so glad to have found Red House! They immediately sat us and handed us their alcohol menu which is filled with a variety of craft beers and what read as delicious cocktails. We weren't starving but looking to eat something so we decided to share their pork belly sandwich and upgraded our fries to poutine. OH MAN. That sandwich was delicious! The navajo bread was a nice crunchy twist that reminded me of a deep fried arepa. The pork belly was cooked to perfection and had an asian sweet taste----the slaw a nice pairing atop. We absolutely devoured their poutine and it was one of my favorites that I had eaten in my time in Canada. Would definitely recommend to other tourists as I really enjoyed my time here! Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Bites

This place is awesome. It's really unfortunate I only discovered this place during my last semester of university. The first time my friends attempted to go here, it was a last minute decision and when we called in to check availability, there were no tables available. We learned our lesson after that and made sure to make a reservation whenever we wanted to go. Twice, we've gone in a large party (10+) and they've accommodated for us by pushing tables together in the back area. Their main course menu is lean, but everything is excellent. I've gotten to try the following items: * crispy buttermilk chicken bites - awesome * duck fat fries - amazing * poutine - standard * fried chicken sandwich (also buttermilk) - great * trout - cooked well * short rib stew - great, they give you lots of meat, a bit lacking in the actual stew. I've heard this is no longer on the menu :( Besides everything tasting awesome, portions are generous for the prices. I've always been in more of a food mood than a drinking mood when I've gone, but my friends have always enjoyed the beers they have on tap. Would have gone to this place a lot more if I had discovered it earlier or if I was still a student. Highly recommend!

There lots of yummy choices in downtown Kingston but when we looked up this one they got me at Gastropub. From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside is very spacious. We sat outside today. Service was great and loved our server who was prompt and friendly. Suggested a great beer for me to try. Got the chicken confit served with a red vinegrette salad and quiona/couscous salad. The chicken was well cooked and just the way I liked it. My husband would argue we could make it at home but with my skills it's hit or miss. Hubby got braised beef cheeks. It was soft and tender, a little too much soy sauce but still tasty. For dessert we had the creme brulee of the day which was Bailey's. Can't go wrong there. Total was about $30 per person including drinks.

Finally went inside to confirm and then made a reservation of that night on their outdoor patio area. The vibe is really nice since the patio is it's own separate area with some really nice...tiling? Idk it just feels really premium and good vibes outside. Ordered the Nabulsi Cheese small plate as well as the Pan Seared Flat-Iron Steak as the recommendation from the server. I'm really not that well versed in fine dining or just more pricy places, so this was a relatively new experience on my end. The nabulsi cheese plate was exceptional. The blend of flavours (olives, tomatoes, shallots) were really nice mixed together. The cheese was amazing, chewy and just great texture all on a nice sliced baguette. Kinda like a flavour explosion which was amazing. Definitely try the cheese plate. The flat-iron steak wasn't you typical steak cooked along with a potato side (mashed or fries). The steak was paired with a quinoa mix, "panca pepper demi and aji verde" which were the dark brown/black sauce and the green sauce in the picture. Steak was super tender and with both sauces were phenomenal. On the same vein as the nabulsi cheese plate, these dishes are literally flavours I've never tasted before and they were amazing. I never really tried quinoa either and was skeptical as to how it would pair alongside steak but it was actually quite nice since the texture was so different then the other things we ordered. This place is the definition of a hidden gem for me. Not even a Yelp page (woohoo another business added!) and not signage outside indicating what it is. Hopefully this review gives it it's much needed appreciation! 5 stars easily.

Fresh ingredients, delightful flavors, a curated menu and freshly made deserts! We have frequented this restaurant each time we are in town and truly. It never disappoints. From the appetizers to the main courses to the cocktails- Red Sun delivers. We shared the fire roasted wings too which were amazing! I had a cocktail- which sadly I cannot remember the name of but I do know that it has my favorite gin- Empress. Red Sun is one of the very few restaurants in Oswego to carry this delightful brand- and it makes me super happy! Laurie the owner, has been in business for quite a while in Oswego and also owns the delightful Port City Cafe right next door as well as the new and exciting Lorbird in Fulton- another amazing experience. We were so fortunate to meet and spend time chatting with her and let me say- this lady knows her stuff. Most inspiring is that she knows her customers and their tastes and she knows how to be successful! Red Sun is an absolute must when visiting Oswego- you won't be disappointed! While we were wandering we found PJ Murphy's! It's a pub style restaurant with a bar on one side and tables and booths throughout. There are well situated TVs closer to the bar and they were showing the hockey games at the time. It was a cooler day and we had to wait a bit before being seated which was fine because they have a real fireplace right by the doors for you to warm up. They were able to seat our party with some rearranging of tables. The host that led us to our seats warned us that it was a busy night and apologized in advance for the service being slow. It was nice of him to do so but it was actually quite reasonable! Their menu featured many Irish themed dishes. I don't think it was just for St Patty's Day so you get to enjoy it anytime. The Irish stew sounded pretty irresistible and it was! It came plated very stylishly, more than I would have expected for a pub! The stew was very hearty with LOTS of meat and carrots, potatoes, and onions cooked to perfection. There was also a large puff pastry that was served on the side. This was seasoned generously and a wonderful accompaniment. I thought it was pretty unique addition. My boyfriend ordered the Shepherd's Pie. This was another modern plated dish. The pie filling could be seen quite well as there was only a swirl of potatoes in the middle, kind of like whipped cream on a dessert which was not exactly as expected. It was also a much smaller portion than my entree so he wound up eating some of mine. The service really wasn't bad at all! Drinks and food were received in a timely manner and we were offered refills too. When it came time to pay for the cheque, they were willing to let us each pay separate which was no small feat for a table of 7 and was much appreciated by us.

What a great end to an already great day in Prince Edward County…read more We came for dinner after being delighted by the vinegars at Black Prince Winery and the liquors at Kinsip Spirits. FYI the gps took us to a collection of buildings called The Warehouse which contains a fancy lodge, a reception area, and a few other things. This restaurant is located past/behind the Reception building and immediately adjacent to the Cookery. Perhaps because of the hot weather and perhaps because it was a Monday night, there was almost no one there and we got the pick of any of the dining areas they offered (garden area, dining room, bar, standard, and patio). We opted for the patio and enjoyed being the only ones there even though it was a bit warm. Seriously, this place is huge and can probably accommodate 100 tables or more despite it looking like a cute, ivy-covered, European-inspired cottage. We opted for the Crispy Chicken Sandwhich and the Fish and Chips plus a beer (Parson's Westy Pale Ale). Our server was so sweet, bubbly, and helpful. I wish I could remember her name but she had long dark hair worn back in a ponytail. She knew a lot about the menu, including the sweets, and helped us choose the Coconut Cream Pie for dessert. The food itself was delicious! Chicken in the CCS was sweet and tangy with great texture and crisp, and the sandwhich was really well balanced with the pickles and slaw. I love me some spice, so I would have opted for a spicy sauce over a sweet one, but it was still a great sandwhich. The house salad it came with was yummy too--greens, cucumbers, and carrots with pepitas and a creamy apple cider dressing. I didn't try the fried fish in the FnC, but SO said it was pretty good. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned with flaked sea salt. The Coconut Cream Pie was excellent. The pie filling was light and creamy and not super sweet, and the crust was definitely homemade graham cracker with a lot of extra sweetness to complement the light filling. I must say it wasn't the best CCP I have ever had (Tartine in San Francisco makes one simply out of this world) but it was still really nice. Overall, great experience and will return.
