Located in the historic Prince George Hotel building, this is a good spot for beer and food that's well above pub fare. Menu ranges from usual grill items to meat pies, curries, boxtys, and several fish offerings. The beer menu is not the longest you'll ever see but solidly impressive. Amaze your friends by ordering the 23 oz Hoegaarden belgian wheat, which comes in a freakishly large glass. We were there on a warm summer evening and dined outside where we took in the sights of Kingston. Beware if they seat you next to the big red wooden doors; these hide the dumpster ---and you will take in the smells of Kingston along with the sights. We had the fish and chips which featured two light, flaky, and perfectly fried pieces of halibut and a Thai themed plate of mussels which was also very good. Service is smart, friendly, and attentive. On this busy Friday they seemed a bit stretched but kept up with it. As we finished up live music commenced inside and there was quite a lively bar crowd. It looks like it would be a nice place to hang out for a few hours if you are more thirsty than hungry.

Nice place to grab a quick bite to eat. The food was not great but I went during the summer and the patio was very nice. The waiting was also prompt and very accommodating. If you're walking by, stop for a nice place to rest but don't expect a very good meal. The company I was with ordered the sangria (white) and said it was very good and I ordered a Guinness.

Meme of my friend and his quote about this burger.

Came in on a recommendation from a friend who used to live in Kingston. Ordered Blarney Chips and before we could blink they showed up. They were pretty darn good! The main course arrived, Guinness Burgers. Wow We were absolutely blown away by this burger!!!! By far the best burger either of us have ever had. Staff were super friendly and fast. Will definitely come back soon.

We went for lunch. Ordered. They dumped us for a larger party of people. We were disgusted and left

It was St Patrick's Day weekend on a Friday. We didn't have reservations for anywhere downtown…read moreKingston for dinner and getting a table sooner than 2-3 hours later was proving to be very difficult. While we were wandering we found PJ Murphy's! It's a pub style restaurant with a bar on one side and tables and booths throughout. There are well situated TVs closer to the bar and they were showing the hockey games at the time. It was a cooler day and we had to wait a bit before being seated which was fine because they have a real fireplace right by the doors for you to warm up. They were able to seat our party with some rearranging of tables. The host that led us to our seats warned us that it was a busy night and apologized in advance for the service being slow. It was nice of him to do so but it was actually quite reasonable! Their menu featured many Irish themed dishes. I don't think it was just for St Patty's Day so you get to enjoy it anytime. The Irish stew sounded pretty irresistible and it was! It came plated very stylishly, more than I would have expected for a pub! The stew was very hearty with LOTS of meat and carrots, potatoes, and onions cooked to perfection. There was also a large puff pastry that was served on the side. This was seasoned generously and a wonderful accompaniment. I thought it was pretty unique addition. My boyfriend ordered the Shepherd's Pie. This was another modern plated dish. The pie filling could be seen quite well as there was only a swirl of potatoes in the middle, kind of like whipped cream on a dessert which was not exactly as expected. It was also a much smaller portion than my entree so he wound up eating some of mine. The service really wasn't bad at all! Drinks and food were received in a timely manner and we were offered refills too. When it came time to pay for the cheque, they were willing to let us each pay separate which was no small feat for a table of 7 and was much appreciated by us.

My fellow campers and I went here after returning from backcountry camping…read more They had a decent selection of food and beverages and you get the feeling that you can't go wrong with any of the choices from the menu. Highly recommend the fish and chips. The juicy IPA was mildly sweet and delightfully refreshing on a hot day.
