Went twice more and still blown away. Service is always SPECTACULAR, food is always great, and just like before, the ambiance is gorgeous.

We popped into KBC for an early dinner, and the place was already quite full (on the main level), which I took as a good sign. Although many breweries/brewpubs have leaned into the now-cliché industrial look, KBC looks very much like an old school pub. Its walls are covered in the paraphernalia of countless beer companies, and there's plenty of nooks and crannies to sit down with your people and knock back some pints. Going to brewpubs can be a hit-or-miss experience for my non-beer-drinker wife, but KBC's enticing menu has something for everyone. Also, their sausage rolls appetizer was enough to ensure that we were both eager to try out the pub. The sausage rolls are of the bite-sized variety and come with a tomato-chili sauce for dipping. The puff pastry of the rolls was shatteringly-crisp, with some browning on both it and the exposed meat at the ends. I enjoyed the juicy, savoury meat inside and the tomato-chili sauce brought some acidity and heat to the show. Since we still weren't l that hungry, we decided to share just one main, the cottage pie. I always give mental kudos to places that use the proper name for this dish (it's only shepherd's pie if lamb is used) and take it as a sign that they know what they're doing. It's hard to have a *bad* cottage/shepherd's pie, but KBC's stood a bit above the fray with a bit more depth of flavour to its meat seasoning, as well as the smoked cheddar in the potatoes. As always, don't be too eager, as you will burn your mouth. Our server was very chill, but was still attentive and knew his stuff beer- and food-wise. Unlike the Toucan, I've never heard of this place until last week! They also have both a front/back patio in addition to indoor seating. Opted to go for the back patio, which was really cool. It was like a different place and was it's own 'zone' since it's walled in pretty much. Ordered the KBC House Wings and Fries (19.50). Tried both maple garlic and hot honey. The sauce and seasoning was pretty good, but I thought the wings were a tad overcooked since they were a bit tough. We also got a pitcher of the Whitetail Cream Ale and Double dry-hopped IPA. I definitely preferred the cream ale more since it was a lottt lighter compared to the IPA. Just easier to drink, less bitter. Solid beer, ok food, good vibes! read more

If you're in Kingston you should definitely check this place out! We had a group of 5 for lunch on a Thursday. The KBC Royale Burger was absolutely delicious! I want to go back to try everything else they have! The house cider sangria was really nice on a summer's day too The patio they had at the back had lots of seating and a really nice feel to it. It's a given that when my wife and I travel someplace new, we'll seek out the breweries. This was our lunch stop on our first day in Kingston, and it set a high bar for food and drink on the rest of the trip. I'll start off with the only real complaint we had about the place, since that was the first things about it we experienced: slowness of service. The sign at the door said "Please Seat Yourself," so we settled into a booth near the middle of the house. Where we sat for about 5 minutes before someone came along. The server gave us water, took our request for some beer samples, and headed toward the bar. Our wait for his second appearance was even longer than that for his first. We got our samples and quickly put in our order to speed the process along. Service followed that pattern for the rest of the meal, with perhaps the longest wait being that for our check. So, I probably should deduct a star for that, but there seemed to only three servers working the entire restaurant, and there was an athletic event in town that weekend, which may have drawn in a larger than usual crowd. If didn't deduct that star, the food and beer must have been pretty good, right? Sure was. We sampled a English style IPA, and it was one of the best of that style I've had. The other sample was a Belgian, and while it was good, it was a little heavier than I wanted before walking around town on a hot August afternoon and so we ordered pints of the IPA. To eat, we bot got the brisket taco salad, which was incredible. The best--juciest, tenderest, most perfectly smoked-brisket I've ever had. All the salad veggies were crisp, and the catalina dressing was a surprising but well chosen topping. We want to go back for the salad alone (not so say we won't sample the beers...). Dining area is cozy, with an eclectic vibe gelling from the beer memorabilia (mostly Canadian and British) covering the walls and oddball items like a giant stuffed polar bear. We had some other very good meals in Kingston, but this was still the best of the bunch. read more

The chicken pot pie was great but the texas feast for two was mediocre. The feast consisted of bbq ribs, pulled pork, brisket, Mac and cheese, fries, coleslaw. And smoked sausage. The only thing that was tasty was the brisket, pulled pork and Mac and cheese...disappointing as the brisket has a lot a chucks of fat. Would not order this again and pricey as well. read more

The fried chicken sandwich was my favourite, and it's easily one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Great service! Delicious burger. Love sitting outside on the patio. Kingston is a nice area to enjoy the pretty flower lined streets, shopping & dining. They had a ton of beers to choose from. I typically don't drink too much beer because it makes me feel like a bloated manatee, but it was really good! My kids liked their meals. As always I wish more restaurants had healthy selections with healthy sides for children (not so many fried) and carb loaded options. I'd definitely go back to this place. Best time to come is before dinner rush (5:30PM) or afterwards (8:00PM) if you are just looking to come here to enjoy the drinks. We came during the rush hour and waited 20 minutes but it could have been an hour depending on how long people mill around their table. This is a really casual and eclectic bar in the heart of downtown Kingston that just loves to bring together a great collection of craft beer for your enjoyment. It's a mix of their own awesome craft brews and a rotating list of 26 guest taps that are mostly provincial. It's a great spot for beer lovers and although I didn't try anything on the menu, except for the coconut creme pie dessert, but other people really seemed to be tucking in. It's loud, it's busy, and a spot for all manner of people to congregate. There is beer paraphernalia in every nook and cranny that they can find in the space. Taps and posters from all different breweries, beer-related knick knacks, and just colour decorations everywhere. There is always something to look at that can spark a conversation. They have 10oz and 20oz sizes so depending on how thirsty you are and how many of beers you want to try. I opted for the 10oz so no sloppy night for this guy. :-P From the beers that are brewed by KBC themselves: 1. I really like the flora raspberry wheat beer. It smells like a swedish berry or some sort of candy. You can definitely smell it as you drink this light and tasty refreshment. 2. The whitetail cream ale was another great pick. It's an easy smooth drink. 3. The Beau's moloko banana milkshake IPA was really interesting. You can smell and taste the aroma of the ripe bananas as you drink the beer. It's slightly sweet from the milk sugar but still retains the refreshing earthiness of an IPA. The staff service here is really friendly and efficient even during a packed house. This place has a lot of character. It's packed to the rafters with all kinds of kitsch from a 'leg lamp' to chalk boards to tin beer signs. I really didn't know where to look, but it certainly made some talking points. The server was professional and friendly. Our orders came as requested and he made sure we were satisfied. It's pub food and I had a burger & salad, which was as expected. Others had ribs with fries and chicken fingers with fries. There was pie for desert and it hit the spot. The bathroom is not mobility friendly with stairs and being quite tight in terms of space. I'm not sure if they had other options. OMG the smoked brisket is so good! The best I've tasted in Canada! The first bite transported me to Austin TX where BBQ is plentiful and great! They smoke their meats in-house and they do it right. Didn't I say the smoked brisket was awesome... Actually every thing that came with the smoked brisket sandwich was fantastic. It was a trifecta, awesome smoked brisket, excellent mac and cheese, and great potato salad (it has chunks of dill pickle in it, awesome). Altogether a excellent meal in a cool pub. Looks like it would be fun when busy at night, we stopped in for lunch. I also tried their home brew called Dragons Breath, it's described as a cask conditioned english red, and it was really good, but I was driving so I only had a half pint :-( I will definitely return and try the smoked wings and ribs. Jugs of wine. This is what I come back to the Brew Pub for, time and time again. They are SO cute. And no one minds if you get a little mini jug for yourself (which is what I always do...). But, there are other awesome features of this place: the decor, the service, the staff, the menu - all excellent. Oh and the patio, the patio! Back or front, they both rock. If you've never been here, you should try it. They do local brews and ciders which everyone raves about and it's regular pub fare to be sure, but it's well done. New Jersey Family Canadian Road of 2018 stop. After miles on the road we needed a break. A quick Yelp search sealed the deal for us. The historic building is filled with beer memorabilia & entertaining signage. The house made beers were cold, tasty & priced appropriately. My ribs with the "ghetto" bbq sauce were fall off the bone delicious. My wife & son raived about the fish & chips. The fish portion was massive. The uncommon alcohol they serve; Dragon's Breath, Regal Loyal, etc. are of a good price and are exactly what you're looking for if you're coming in from the bitter cold outdoors. Alcohol aside, the food that we bought was also of a much higher grade pub-food than regularly found at the other pubs around Kingston. If you're looking to snack on something, I'd certainly recommend the nachos; the extra $7 charge to get chicken mixed in with the mix is a bit steep, but it's damn well worth it. read more

Charming little bar with lots of character. Service was fast and friendly. Food was not that good. Ordered the beef brisket sandwich with macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw sides $15.95. The meat was cooked on a smoker but wasn't very juicey and took a fair bit of chewing. The sandwich bun fell completely apart. Chunks of firm brisket falling out. Spanish onion pieces and pickles were nice. Marconi and cheese was more like a pack of Sidekicks. Coleslaw was pretty basic. Hot sauce was all vinegar. I ate everything. Visited recently with my daughters. As expected, there was a good selection of beers, both house brews and guest. My daughters say that the homemade cream soda is the best. The Kingston Brewing Company is one in the trio of places I like to hit when I'm in K-town. It's Ontario's oldest brew pub and one of the few places in the city that makes its own beer. It's one of the best pubs for my money. The local brews they make are delish, the décor is warm, friendly, and completely inviting, and for me, the menu may be great, but I've only had one thing there. The Ghetto Wings, named after the now-not-named-that Queens Ghetto (I guess they got angry calls from ghettos in other cities not wanting to be associated to that mess), the wings are some of the larger wings that you'll find in restaurants. The Ghetto sauce covers them in a smoky-spicy stickiness that will have you wondering what the other stuff on the menu tastes like. I'm dead serious, I've eaten here so many times and have only tried the wings or whatever has been passed in front of me by my table-mates saying "You have to try this." The interior is not where you want to sit. On a clear bright sunny summer day, walk around the front porch and head straight for the backyard patio. Overhanging umbrella and debris guards make the indirect sunlight enjoyable. Location is quaint. Parking is on the street or lot which is paid parking at specified times. Outdoor patio seating is quite large. Indoor seating area is very dated and old. To get to the washrooms is not of a puzzle and you are going down stairs to a basement in which the washroom is very old and dated. The Brew Pub is my favourite restaurant in all of Kingston. The food is excellent as well as the service. The interior is fun since it's decorated with brewing related items and music memorabilia. They have humorous menus and placemats. As others have said, the Ghetto Wings are delicious. The Ghetto sauce that they put on the wings is unique to the Brew Pub. I would also recommend the Torpedo Steak Sandwich. The steak is covered in the Ghetto Sauce and is juicy and tender. I usually get this when I eat here. The Sunday Brunch is another thing to go for. Perfect portion sizes for a good price. Eggs, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns in a few different combinations and vareties. read more

They were very good . Lightly battered and cooked to perfection. One of us had a burger, nothing special it was good. There menu has plenty of carb loaded pub snacks and the decor was a riot! I love this place. I come here almost every time I'm even remotely close to Kingston. They have some seasonal features, some flavours of the month and some rarely produced beers which my other beery friends report on when they pass through. The food is decent pub-grub and the pricing is typical. This is NOT a foodie oasis. It's a BEERY oasis! I'll be back, again and again and again.
