The outside displays are always enticing; everything from fresh herb plants to produce can be seen as a backdrop to a small outdoor seating area, which is a great place to chill once you've grabbed a quick ready-to-go item for a snack or lunch. Typical items are sandwiches, fresh pizza, baked goods. Also, coffee is pretty decent. I'm a big fan of their move to support gluten free products. They currently carry Purest, a brand that's based in ON, and every Wednesday is gluten-free day; they have pizza and sandwiches that are really yummy. And, today I even scored a GF brownie - delicious. Prices definitely reflect the quality, which I won't complain about - it just makes it a more occasional stop for me.

Delicious soup, spinakopita and other goodies. They sell almost all local produce, with some flux during the winter months. Lots of meat, cheese options as well as veggies and a growing section of other staples like flour and beans. CSA drop-offs also abound here and it sort of turns into a cool little hub of activity in the summer. Not really much by way of seating area except during the summer time when the outside area turns into a patio area. Also probably some of the best coffee in Kingston. Bueno bean is the bomb.

This place is pretty poppin' on a Sunday. Talk about popular brunch spots. First come, first…read moreserved, no reservations. I know this place exists because of their generosity to Camp Outlook. They have absolutely 100% scrumptious bread! And baked goodies. I love their dinner buns. They are made in this pull-a-part style and absolutely delicious to accompany soup, or toasted with butter, or, Pb&J, or cheese. Almost anything really, you can't go wrong. I was in Kingston recently and really wanted those dinner buns, unfortunately they didn't have them. Not on Sunday, not on Monday. I settled for their mini olive and rosemary dinner rolls. They were good too. Service here is pretty on point. There was a question I had asked the lady behind the counter and she came out from behind the counter to help answer any questions I had and serve me. She was really awesome! They have a catering menu, a cafe for brunch, they have fresh breads available and they do specialty cakes. They are totally the real deal. AND they sell Neal Brothers' cheese puffs. Havent been able to find these bad boys anywhere. They discontinued them in grocery retailers and health food stores don't seem to carry them. I'm in Toronto and havent been able to find them for a couple of years. They are a pretty penny, yet worth it for the sheer pleasure. Their store front is spacious and inviting. Certainly the place to be, everyone seemed to be walking in when I went. It is very well known. They can for sure accomodate a large amount of people. I would most definitely revisit when Im in the city next.

The sliced turkey with 2 years aged cheddar on rye bread was delish. The dressing was refreshing as well. The Portuguese egg tart was different from NYC. Maybe it would've kicked it up a notch if it was warmed up with a more crisp. But also yummy.

Half of my family went in to grab our table while my dad and I spent some time searching for parking which probably took roughly 15 minutes. When we got in, there was already water on our table which was nice however after that moment it took 20 minutes for our server to come to our table. I have a lot higher expectations for this place as I have been a couple times and it is a higher end restaurant so I was kinda disappointed. Mind you our reso was at 8pm so we were pretty hungry at this point. The server didn't really say much or apologize for not coming by so it was overall a bit strange. Besides that the food was pretty good, I got the seafood linguine which tasted pretty fresh but I probably wouldn't order it again as there are other things on the menu I like better. My dad ordered the braised lamb shank and my mom and grandma shared the penne pomodoro. Overall the lamb was definitely the best dish out of them all. Not sure if I would come back here, if I was ever visiting Kingston again as there are just so many great restaurants to choose from and I was not satisfied with the service which I think is important especially for a high end place.

Firstly, I do want to give a nod to their cocktails, that were boozy and had interesting combinations. There was also complimentary bread with olive oil. As for the rest of our meal...we ordered the FRITTO MISTO DI MARE to share and it was just OK, I felt the batter could've been better. Our main dishes took almost an hour to come after our appetizer. My friend got the PESTO LINGUINE (pasta was overdone but the pesto was delicious) while I got the BEEF RAGU GNOCCHI WITH ADDED RAPINI (gnocchi was oddly huge and on the denser side, the addition of rapini was barely a few leaves which was disappointing, sauce was salty). Wish I had a better experience here...probably won't go out of my way to dine at Olivea again.
