We had a reservation for three to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were greeted by a friendly server who seated us promptly. Our drink order was taken and delivered promptly. Our food order was similarly prompt. All of our food was hot, and delicious. Portion size was good, providing excellent value for the price. We will definitely return. read more

On our way to Toronto we stopped for dinner in Brockville. Since I have changed my eating habits fast food joints are not for me so we fund this place. I ordered the summer chicken but asked them to make it cajun style which they did a very good job. but the rest of the meal was boring. tasteless veggies. Even the wings were just OK. I asked for suicide but it must have been baby nite cause i am still waiting for the spice to hit me. So overall it was A-OK...and nothing more. read more

Barley Mow Pub - Blackend chicken - Pubs Near Me - Brockville, Ontario

I gave this place 4 stars and the only reason they didn't get 5 is because the service was a little slow. The place was not super busy so I am not sure was caused the delay. The food on the other hand was AMAZING and the chorizo burger is to die for. Salad was fresh and we also ordered fried zucchini for our entree and they were so good and ever better with the little sauce. My boyfriend had the souvlaki and it was ok and my son had the elevated mac&cheese and it was so tasty and rich. Beer was good and many to choose from and the daiquiri was VERY good. It is a bit expensive for the Brockville area but I don't mind paying for good food and they do have that there read more

In Toronto this pub would've gotten a 3 star rating because of the speed of service but for Brockville the rating is higher because the food is pretty decent and is probably the only thing open around town after 9:30pm. This is definitely not disgusting bar food. I recommend the honey garlic wings not overly sweet. It actually taste like real honey. Nice and clean taste. The barley burger is very yummy and my friend also really enjoyed his meat loaf. Funny surprise they actually have Pho, and Malaysian Curry. read more

I had the fish and chips (haddock) it is made to order so 10-15 wait but boy was it worth it. Moist perfect batter and large. Fries were home made. Try the home made Tatar it is a great accompaniment and very different from the store bought. Good selection of craft beers and wines. Good mixed crowd for a Tues night and my server Marida was a joy. There are other locations I am reading the beer and wine list. I shall be back......most definitely. read more

Went for fish&chip night. The fish and chips were great, you get a large piece of crispy hot fish and fries, very fresh and tastey. I liked the tartar sauce it had garlic in it I think. The coleslaw however tasted kinda fridgey somehow and seemed to have old salad leaf bits in it. Service was A+. Dessert.. don't waste your money, it's like it came out of the box. There was peanut butter in the dulce de leche cake I think and the texture.. kinda gelatinous.. and our table mates said the bread pudding was the worst ever.. and the coffee is instant... Ok so verdict: go Mondays for beer and fish and chips and good service but probably don't get anything else! read more

We popped in here on our way home one afternoon for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent (I had the Pho) and the service was equally as excellent. I will definitely be making a reappearance. read more

Been in Brockville on biz last couple of weeks and have enjoyed all 3 of my visits to this nice, friendly spot. Excellent martinis, and great food made from fresh ingredients by hand. Loved the lettuce wraps, the fish and chips, and the Pub Curry (which was the winner in my mind)... read more

Once we received our food, it was actually quite good. I had the blackened catfish & chips, which was quite well done. One of my dining companions had the regular fish & chips that turned out to be a huge portion, and very well executed. Fries are such simple things, yet so many places do them poorly, but they were very good here. We didn't have any beer, I guess this being obsentiably a brewpub that a wa silly thing to do. The service was terribly slow, I didn't feel there were that many patrons here at the time, despite the parking lot being nearly full. However, the servers seemed to have huge areas to cover, which explained the speed of service. Maybe they were short staffed. One thing that stood out about the visit, was the over-tanned, over-cologned, slightly loud, and probably over-served, 60 year old man that was circulating around the various tables with women at them; who was also chatting up the female servers. His cologne reek impacted our table when he came within 10 feet of it. I'm not sure if he was some sort of owner, or just a regular, but the staff should have kept him away from the other tables, and probably cut him off earlier. It was a distraction, and an unwelcome one. read more

The Malaysian Chicken was delicious. The portion was a good size -- not humungous, but I certainly didn't leave hungry. Service was good despite the restaurant being fully booked. Good selection of local craft beers on tap. An overall good experience. read more

Extremely disappointed with the ownership of this restaurant. Went there on Saturday August 21, waited to be seat approximately 15 minutes only to have the owner and his buddies come in and take our table. Hostess told us it would be another half hour wait. Will never return to Barley Mow Brockville. read more

We arrived and were seated fairly quickly. We ordered our drinks and ordered. We were nearly an hour from the time we walked in the door to the time we received our food. I'm afraid there was no excuse for the wait as it wasn't a full house. The food, almost made the wait worth it. We ordered 4 meals, all 4 looked and tasted awesome. I would recommend this restaurant, in hopes the service was just off this one night. read more

Had some business to attend to in Brockville on this cold and windy day. I had previously been to a Barley Mow Pub in another city and remembered the food was very good. Brockville is not very big, but still when you are hungry, driving around in the winter is not fun. We were in the mood for a beer and quick bite so stopped in at the Barley Mow. When we walked in the door the server greeted us with the news that there would be a 45 minute wait for food. We plunked ourselves down, ordered some beer and decided to wait that long to eat. My partner ordered the Pub Club and I the Barley Burger. Both items were very good but waiting an hour to eat was hard to do. Our server April was attentive and pleasant. The prices were a bit steep in my view, so may choose another restaurant on any future visits. read more

Warm Mediterranean salad.... soooo delicious! Fresh bocconcini cheese, sweet cherry tomatoes, balsamic dressing, sweet basil pesto. Beautiful presentation! read more

Barley Mow Pub - a plate of food - Pubs Near Me - Brockville, Ontario

Arrived Sunday afternoon at 1:00 , huge line at front door . No one even acknowledged my wife and I. Waitress who was pulling double duty as a server had a lousy attitude. After 15 minutes of being ignored I waved goodbye to the waitress at the bar who also ignored us. Never got to experience the food because the horrific treatment at the front door was enough. The only tip I'd have for this place is hire a hostess!! read more

My wife and I went to The Barley Mow, this was our second visit. The atmosphere is good, and the food is good pub fare. My wife had a jerk chicken wrap, and she said it was very good. I had the Signature Burger, and it was very good. The fries are excellent, almost at chip wagon quality. There are a couple of things that need to be fixed. First, there is no drink menu. There are many types of beer, but the server must always recite them. This is not very efficient. Also, it took forever to get drinks and food. I kept wondering why it took so long for a burger and a wrap. It took well over 30 minutes to get food. The restaurant was busy, but not extra busy, and there appeared to be adequate staffing. In general, I like this place, but am not ready to put it among my favourite restaurants in Brockville. We will try it again, and hope to find that they have improved their service. read more

I found the menu to be rather pricy and limiting considering. I would love to see them develop a lunch menu. The service was really nice, but we ended up leaving early because nothing on the menu really jumped out at us. read more

I had the BBQ chicken wings and the sweet potato fries, both were quite good when pub food is what you're after. But overall this is just a very average sports bar offering typical bar style food, nothing special. read more

Stopped here on business. In Brockville for just one night. Read 3-star reviews for this place but decided to try it anyway. I give it a SOLID 4 stars. Service was quick, fast, friendly and casual. I had the fish and chips. Fish was awesome - lightly breaded and cooked perfectly, flakey and served hot. Fries were also awesome, crispy and hot. A nice, refreshing kale coleslaw was a bonus. They had my favorite Mill St beer on tap. Win, win. I will eat here again. read more

Saturday night visit, pretty busy. Service was good and our food came very quickly. We both had the fish and chips, which was really good. Fries were excellent and the tartar sauce for the fish was tasty. Would go back again. read more

Just left Barley Mow. After reviewing other peoples reviews I truly enjoyed our experience there. It is certainly not the fastest place to receive a meal. Bit then I didn't go there to have a world record set for speed. I got my Foundry right away received our appetizers within 20 minutes at which point we ordered (out choice to wait) and received 5 different meals again within 20-25 minutes. It gave us the chance to chat and catch up on stuff that has happened since the last time we all got together. You want a speedy meal? Go to mcDonalds read more

I was extremely disappointed in the food and service. We ordered an appetizer that was just okay. Our main meal was terrible. The food was not even hot, mildly warm like it had been sitting on the line. The fries were so crisp they weren't even worth eating. I did not complain because we had waited so long just to get the food. I would NOT go back and the service was terrible to boot. read more
