What a disappointment! Went for dinner here and ordered a Turkey club. We opened it up when it arrived to see a small piece of turkey that covered maybe 1/3 of the sandwich. Also they used a cheese slice for the cheese, a tiny piece of tomato and some lettuce! It was barely edible and cost $18! On the plus side the waitress was very nice and did bring us more turkey when we asked for some, although it was freezing cold. I do not recommend eating here. Oh and the fries were great! read more

Great place. I had the squash maple soup, it good nothing to write home about. Ordered the mushroom burger which had caramelized onions which was yummy! The fires were really amazing as well. I don't think the coleslaw had any mayo in it which I liked. Overall, it was good not great. read more

I was introduced to this restaurant by a neighbour. It is our place to meet and catch up. There's usually lots of others doing the same thing. Service time is a little variable, as noted in other reviews, but it allows for time to visit without feeling rushed I'm slowly working my way through the menu. It is often unexpected, a mix of good and excellent. Some quality made on site (potato skins) and some not made on site or quality (hot chocolate). I really like the strawberry rhubarb pie. The potato skins are on the list of rewards that will get me out to do errands. The day I discovered that they are officially only available at night they did make me some as that was all I come in for. read more

The service was alright. Server was nice but came around only to check on us once... didn't come to give us the check and had to walk up after a while. Food was below average. The first red flag was the choices on the menu. It ranges from American, Italian, Indian, Thai(?) and Mexican. We got linguini with meat sauce. Tasted like canned spaghetti. Dry and needed more salt or something. Got top off steak sandwich with soup. I asked for medium rare and got very well done. Steak was tough and dry. Also needed more seasoning. The bread was garlicy and made the steak taste a little better. The onions on top was alright too. Lastly, fish burger with fries. The burger came with tomato and lettuce buns and fried fish with a slice of American cheese. Can't account for the taste of the fish but the lettuce on the burger looked a little wilted. Ambiance ------------- Anthony's is a local small restaurant that really doesn't have a theme. From modern art to wood carvings and old books on this place has it all. This place is pretty dirty with dead flies in the window cill and ceiling vents caked with dust and grime. The banquets are stiff and narrow with narrow banquet tables. The floor is clean but old and I bet there is a nice hard wood floor underneath. Score = 2/5 First Impression --------------------- When I first walked in the door there was no hostess stand or indication whether or not I was to seat myself. First impression score = 1/5 Food ------- I ordered the seafood platter with the baked potato and vegetables. The shrimp was okay but not great. The sole was seasoned and cooked well and was tasty. The veggies were also seasoned and tasty. The baked potato was served with butter, sour cream and horse radish. Food score = 3/5 Service ---------- The server noted the restaurant is very busy in the Summer but quiet in the winter. The server was pleasant and attentive but didn't know anything about two of the three beers they had on tap. Service score = 3/5 Final Thoughts -------------------- For a local hangout Anthony's has a good menu with decent food. I realize this is their off-season but I with a recommendation from my hotel I was not very impressed with the experience. Overall score is 2/5. Not great to say the least. We did arrive at an odd hour at 3pm after the cruise, but it took us more than an hour to get our food, even though each dish we ordered would seem like they would be quick to prepare. Chicken wings: crispy on the outside, oh so dry on the inside. Not good at all. Pouting: mediocre fries with very little mozzarella cheese bits (like the ones you get in a bag from the supermarket that's already pre grated), and bland gravy that didn't cover all the fries. Liver and onions with side Cesar and veggies: liver is liver, but was over cooked and gravy was also bland. Cesar salad had a spoonful of Parmesan cheese (the bottled pre grated kind) and basically no salad dressing. The servers were nice enough and came along to apologize for the wait, but it doesn't help much when we've been waiting for over an hour. read more

We went there for breakfast a couple weeks ago and we were majorly disappointed. The food was soo cold, like they put it on ice, it didn't help the plates were freezing as well. Eggs came out cold.. Yuck, French toast wouldn't even melt the butter, so I asked for bacon, she literally went back and threw whatever bacon was sitting there for god knows how Long on a plate, and it was ice cold. The coffee tasted old and like instant coffee, it made the cream a funny colour. Let's just say we will never be returning to this place again read more

Would not recommend this restaurant service was not good at all, liver was dry the pasta was horrible, chicken parmesan was dry and the sauce was like a squished tomato with no taste . Overall stay away! Also if this place can not handle the demand of tourism then maybe they should pay even more attention to the locals like they did that evening! read more

I went here for lunch on a Saturday, as they have a patio and we wanted to sit outside with a drink. We were warned on the way in that there were wasps outside and that some people had been moving inside as a result. We decided to try our luck outside anyway. Ordered: My boyfriend had the Chicken Caesar wrap & fries, I had the Chicken Club with a side salad. Food was ok, nothing special. The fries were really good. My salad was artfully arranged and tasty. The people before us were not kidding about the wasps! We had about 5 or 6 wasps circling our table trying to get our food and drinks. We ended up moving inside as well. They should really invest $4 into a wasp trap for outside or something, it was ridiculous! Gananoque has very few restaurants with patios, so if you have a patio you need to have it useable! Overall the wasp situation made what would have been a standard 3-star experience into a two star at best. Also, it was weird, we had a late lunch around 3, and as we were finishing up, the waitress turned away two separate groups of 6+ people as their 'dinner' didn't start until 4pm, and it was only 3:30. what a disaster! it was recommended by the hotel clerk but I wouldn't send anyone there. cute place but the wait just to get the waitress' attention was long. I should have known when I saw people sitting idly at their tables waiting. Waited about 45 minutes for food from order to delivery. We were the last ones on the patio and the food was not worth waiting for. All I can hope is they were having an understaffed night. Otherwise, don't bother. read more

My family went for dinner here after a delightful afternoon at the theatre. There seemed to be an invasion of flies and wasps on the patio, but the food was tasty and delightful.
