AquaTerra is located inside of the Delta Hotel, so you'll have to walk through the lobby to access it, and the bathrooms as well. The food is decent, but the best part of the meal was definitely the oysters we had at the beginning. The dessert we ordered came with cake and ice cream, but the two components were better eaten separately than together. The service was quite good; when we had turned off the table light and set it aside to make room for the plates, servers came by three separate times to inquire about if the one we had needed to be replaced. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again, but I would consider visiting if someone else wanted to check it out. read more

Wow! This place is fantastic. No solo diner syndrome to be found here (SDS is treating a solo diner as less than other groups). This was my favourite restaurant and dinner of my birthday trip to Kingston. The restaurant is in the Delta Hotel on the water. Entrance is to the left in the lobby. The first thing you will notice is the gorgeous plate glass waterfall at the entrance. Really makes the ambiance something special. The dining room has elegant, modern lights that aren't bright, so the lighting is perfect. Blue carpet is beautiful and calming. And the view! There are big windows that are almost floor to ceiling around the dining room and offer spectacular views of the water. I really fell in love with this place! I was seated by the hostess in the very back in a super comfy booth, so I had a wonderful view of the sky, boats and water. The tables felt so elegant. Cloth napkins, your own mini light, beautiful wood grain and those fancy, padded book-like menus. I was feeling pretty fancy. My server was James. Very professional and paid great attention to detail. He was funny too. I could hear him joking with other patrons and he did with me too. The dining experience, I always say, is enhanced so much when the server takes the time to engage with you about more than what you are ordering. I had two Key Lime Pie margaritas. I had told James I was gluten-free so he said before I could that he would make sure they left off the graham cracker around the edge. That was one of my top ten cocktails. Really delicious. I had the scallops and grits. OMG was that dish incredible. Scallops were perfect! Great char on the outside and tender. There was hominy in the dish too, and being a TN native loved having that. There were pomegranate pieces on the plate. Never would have imagined scallops would go so well with pomegranate. That dish was amazing. Never thought I'd find a scallop dish that tops Vessel in NOLA...but there it was. James brought me a little extra...this Asian slaw on a single-serve spoon. Soooo good! And the service was perfect the entire time I was there. So many times servers ignore me or do the bare minimum since I dine alone, none of that here. James really took care of everything and made me feel valued as a customer. The view, the food, the service. What a perfect and delicious dinner! We were a large group, this is a high end restaurant with amazing views of Lake Ontario, which we did not see because we were stuck in a boardroom with now windows and pot lights as the lovely mood lighting... Brutal, if we are planning a nice dinner out at an high end restaurant, I would hope we could at least see the beautiful views. The average meal is between $30 to $50. I feel like that should come with something more that a board room table, boardroom seats, no windows, no candles, nice lighting or pretty decor. Just tables and crappy chairs. This is one of the fancier restaurants in downtown Kingston and we booked dinner here to celebrate my dad's 82nd birthday. If you're not staying in the hotel the most efficient entrance is to walk through the parking garage, which was a little weird, but once inside it's easy to find and the service was polite and friendly. Since it was a birthday we brought our own bottle of champagne that had been a gift to my dad, and they were happy to serve it (with a whopping $35 corkage fee of course). The entrees all looked delicious and the ones we ordered were tasty. They weren't oversized, so if you're quite hungry you'd want an appetizer or dessert also, but was perfect for us since we were going to be going back home to birthday cake. I had the scallops and pork belly, which were good although the scallops were maybe a tiny bit on the salty side. The bread basket was a house-made foccacia with herb butter, also delicious, and they even brought out a small complementary amuse-bouche consisting of small glasses of pumpkin soup, which was a nice surprise. Main courses were $28-$56 with most in the $30 range (the priciest one was a surf and turf combo with lobster). The view here is the real winner though - we had window-side seats overlooking the harbour in front of City Hall with a lovely view across the water to the Royal Military College and the martello towers. Beautiful setting overlooking the water. Excellent service, from arrival and throughout our meal. We shared a delicious Caesar salad to start. My plate of scallops was just the right amount and the scallops were melt in the mouth delicious! Hubby order the Rib Eye Steak served with Yukon golds and green beans. Very tender beef & very flavourful. The Crème Brûlée was to die for! And 7-layer chocolate torte was decadent and oh so rich. The meal was ably served by our server. Only for my personal experience, hope nobody will have same experience like me. My friend and I we booked the reservation for two people from website at 11:00 am Sunday morning. We was so exciting to have brunch in the AquaTerra and we gave up our hotel's breakfast in order to eat. After a waitress who has long hair with ponytail helped us to check in and asked our information then leaded us the seat in the patio . When we sat down we saw the menu all for lunch like burger, steak.... such a heavy food for our first meal. We asked her, did you have brunch right now and showed the website and She said, Oh that one only for "INSIDE". Then we said, is it possible to change to inside? She replied us and said We don't serve brunch in the patio if you want you might have to check with someone inside. We asked her patio and inside belonged to different departments? Server said, we are the same restaurant but kitchen's system can not serve patio.... We asked her would you able to check the seat for us? She left. At the same time i heard our next table gonna move to indoor and the other server asked them to bring their own water. We was thinking oh everyone wants to have brunch. When our server came back i though she gonna lead us to inside but she just said there didn't have any seat right now. We were so shocked... First, we made the reservation then we can not choose what we want to eat? Second, when she checked our reservation she should ask us first right? even we want to seat in patio or inside... then what's the point for her to be the host.. Third, such a good reputation restaurant doesn't have any waiting list for customer? This review really only speaks to the brunch, and it was one of the best decisions I made on a bright Sunday morning. Got to try the pork belly special and the chicken-and-waffles inspired eggs Benedict, and both were spectacular. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the dishes are well seasoned, and it was the best pick-me-up for the day. I will admit that the portion size could be a bit better based on the price you're paying, but the taste of the food really doesn't deter me from giving this place a five star review. Amazing view!! The BF and I enjoyed a late breakfast here one morning while back home visiting my dad and it was very lovely. Quiet atmosphere and tasty breakfast foods. The highlight of my meal was most definitely the house made jam preserves, we tried strawberry and wild blueberry. Delish! Coffee was nice and strong, I appreciated the full carafe left on the table for us to replenish ourselves. This place is small but don't the size fool you. Located within the hotel, it's around the lobby area. Service: excellent young man served us and was polite and easy going Food: Tasty choices that was plated well. The plating seems to be lacking in most restaurants and this lounge punches above its weight. The presentation really helped with the simple ribs and coleslaw because everyone at our table liked it. The ribs and coleslaw came with the Triceratops Tripel beer (tons of hops in this IPA) for just $10 as part of FebFest. Venue: modern decor with a great view of the water and RMC just across the pond Environment: unfortunately there was a couple families with babies and they kept crying - but not really the fault of the restolounge I'd say AquaTerra does a good job in doing a similar job to a Keg or Kelsey's which you may find within a hotel lobby. Not the name brand you'd look for but a great choice - give it a try next time you're staying at the hotel or in Kingston. read more

Brunch: not all it's cracked up to be. I went here for brunch with my family. My mom had the hash which she enjoyed. I ordered the eggs Benedict which were undercooked-ew. I sent them back and they redid them. They were better the second time but not by much. Eggs Benedict are my favorite and they were not up to par. I'm sorry but I can't eat an egg that is undercooked. The management was very nice about it all but I didn't like my food which is why I am not giving them a lot of stars. The atmosphere is nice and the views are lovely. The service was alright but our waitress seemed confused all the time. I had a Caesar to drink which was good but needed a pickle. They did comp my meal but I was still disappointed, especially after hearing rave reviews from others. read more

A bit pricey for the quality unless you do the Prix Fixe. You can get a 3 course lunch for $15 and a 3 course dinner for $30. View and ambience are both lovely. I think the restaurant is aiming to be high-end fine dining but landing solidly in the pretty-good dining league. Great place for a business dinner. Another plus is the free parking in the hotel's parking garage - a real bonus when it's rainy or cold and there's no bloody parking anywhere downtown Kingston. Addendum: They have raised the price for the prix fixe lunch menu after the big hotel renovation. I no longer think this is good value. Also during the renovation, the restaurant served up the most horrible lunch buffet ever. For these reasons, I'm downgrading my rating to only 3 stars. read more

AquaTerra has a fantastic view of the waters surrounding Radission Hotel in Kingston. It has a fairly upscale feeling (though definitely not tux level) and service was polite and responsive. Making a reservation is a good move - the restaurant seems fairly busy (I'm not a resident so confirming this would be difficult). The interior of the restaurant certainly looked nice, and the star-burst lights work best when reflected against the night outside - because, let's face it - you come here to look out at the lake, not in at the restaurant. The free parking option is a fantastic benefit to eating here. The food was good, but that was the problem. The location and general portrayal of the restaurant have you expecting more - we had the 3 course dinner for 30$, which seemed a great price, but the portions are definitely on the small-side. Granted, this is usually done because the customer has multiple dishes to get through, but even with that in mind, it seemed a little too small. I had the Duck Confit, which was certainly nice, although the skin was too salty, and the sauce itself wasn't sweet enough to offset that. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the trout starter. Overall, with a great view, good food and a nice atmosphere, it works well for somewhat format and business dinner options. But it's going to take some improvement still before it can really contend with other restaurants in this category. read more

We started the night off with drinks and french onion soup, all were amazing. For dinner I had the seafood risotto, which was creamy, delicious and packed with scallops, lobster and shrimp! So impressed! The server also brought over some free samples of their newest items on the menu which was a yummy surprise! For dessert I had the creme brulee and it was the best creme brulee I have ever had, beats The Keg hands down! This is a fancy restaurant, so be prepared to spend some money! My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting AquaTerra on June 12th. The food was delicious, the views of the harbour were breathtaking, the drinks were generous, but the best part of all was the service. The staff was awesome! Horrible. Upon arriving we had to fill out a page of questions about our health, which was self defeating as we were sat at a table literally at the sidewalk. All the tables are right in a row at the sidewalk. The whole time we were there, a constant stream of people and dogs right beside our table and people looking over to see what customers were eating. Like 1-2 feet from us! At first, a chair was covered in seagull poop, so we switched it out. Then, a dog pooped on the ground next to hubby's chair and the owner picked it up. The steaks were well cooked but small and had a lot of fat on them. They were on top of a small amount of french fries that were so salty my hubby could only eat half of them. No veggies or salad. Two steak dinners, two drinks for over $80 and two poop incidents. What a miserable place. There is just no ambience at all. It is not a classy place or restful in the least. read more

I happened on this restaurant which is part of a hotel while driving from Toronto to Montreal. Great find for sure. There are great views of the lake and positioned on the marina. I choose to sit at the bar to have my dinner.... was first brought fresh baked bread and "the butter of the day." Then wings with a tangy glaze was a great starter... to follow with tthe (de-constructed) Beef Wellington. The steak was a bit on the rare side for medium rare but such a good cut that I finished it all. Comes with fingerling potatoes, roasted onion and carrots. Remember this is Kingston so don't expect too much given its size and tourist bent. Appetizers are decent. The beef tartare is good although I think the egg yolk was overcooked that was to be mixed in. Shrimp and calamari were average. Caesar salad likewise. Most of us had the lobster and pasta. Pasta to lobster ratio was unbalanced. Would have preferred more of their fresh pasta. The lobster got mixed into the sauce and resulted in being a bit overcooked and lost in the sauce. The Arctic char special was well prepared though. Deserts were meh. Had the ginger brûlée which had a weird combination. I expected a pop from the ginger but rather got a slow gingery sauce which made it taste a bit off. Nothing to write home about but was decent enough. Prices however were pretty high but I guess that is what you get for overlooking the harbour. Service was lovely though. read more

This is not a typical hotel restaurant. It is creative excellent cooking and mt Lobster Fetachini was topped with two claws and a very generous portion of lobster. The service was knowable friendly and attentive. Every time I stay in Kingston I stay at the Delta on the water so I can enjoy this special restaurant. read more

Aqua Terre has good food and service and pretty views of Lake Ontario. That said, I find it doesn't have the same warm & authentic vibe of the other Kingston restaurants. The dining room is a bit stark and the times I have had dinner here it has always seemed fairly empty. I like the food - the tuna tartar & Black Sea bass are simply fresh & delicious - I am just not a big fan of the overall dining experience here. read more

I went to Aqua Terra for their Saturday breakfast special. It's not really a special, but it's the one of the few times you can go to this restaurant, get great food, all for a reasonable price. From what I've heard, If you go during lunch and dinner hours, you'll be paying quite a lot for what you get. So this review is strictly breakfast oriented. The interior is quite nice. Although, personally, I felt it had a bit of a teenage girl vibe to the decorating (fluffy pillows, teal & purple colorings, dragonflies on the wall). But this restaurant separates itself from other restaurants because of the spectacular view you get of the harbor/river. Not only are there massive panes of glass allowing you to look out, but you're on the second floor above the water. The food was pretty tasty. Certainly a step above most Kingston restaurants. The service is excellent and you do feel like you're a valued guest. My complaint? The music! It was some sort of mix between a techno version of elevator music and 70s porno music. It was rather distracting at times. For the quality of the food, service and restaurant, the breakfast is a great deal. read more

They have the best brunch buffet in Kingston on Sundays. I've been there enough times to have lost count. Always suffer itis that afternoon, productivity drops to 0, and there's no need to eat dinner. It's just an awesome way to kick off a Sunday with your friends and have an excuse for not doing anything the rest of the day. Fresh grapefruit and orange juice are awesome. Omelet bar is good. There's a salad bar, a selection of cheese, and a good assortment of various breads/muffins/tarts etc. They always have crab legs, mussels, smoked salmon, eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes etc. The other protein options change week to week. The best dish they've had was a Shepard's pie, but I've only seen it there once. Then there's a fair selection of dessert cakes. I've heard their actual dinners and other services pale in comparison to the Sunday brunch, but I go to AquaTerra exclusively for their brunch. read more

Private Group Dinner- Excellent! After carefully checking reviews, we chose Aqua Terra for an engagement dinner (18 people) in one of their private rooms. Starting with Emily in group dining, and James, the server, not leaving out the talented chefs that prepared the meals, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Aqua Terra a 10 +++. Aqua Terra earned it over and over. In preparation for the event, Emily patiently worked with us to create our menu selections for our guests. Every single person was thrilled with their meal. After carefully selecting a choice of four starters, four entrees and three desserts for our guests to choose from, at the night of the event, everyone raved after tasting their choices, as cellphones were flashing and clicking, capturing photos of the beautifully presented meals. We chose Beef Tenderloin, Moroccan chicken, seafood linguini, and salmon. Everyone who had the beef tenderloin remarked how tender and perfectly cooked it turned out. People that ordered it medium got it perfectly medium, and the others the same way they asked for it to be cooked. The soup of the day was a type of cream of tomato with cheese and guests kept talking about how delicious it was. Another starter was curry pineapple shrimp. All great. Desserts were Cream brulee, Pavlova , (which many said tasted so good) and a beautifully decorated chocolate hazelnut gateau . As an added note, our party was detained, so when we arrived late and told them we had to still set up our centerpieces, the staff jumped into action like an assembly line helping us out, making our evening get off to a good start. Also James, who served our meals had the most pleasant personality and bent over backwards to accommodate all our requests, which added to making it a great evening. My boyfriend & I had breakfast here this morning. The service was speedy, and friendly. The menu had options for everyone, which included gluten free options, and your standard classic breakfast of eggs & bacon. The coffee was great, I really liked that each table got their own pitcher, so you didn't need to rely on the wait staff for refills. It isn't getting any more than 3 stars because I felt with the price I could have stood for more than just a sliver of melon & an orange slice on my plate. We were happy the dress code was a bit on the dressy side but not crazy and the atmosphere was great. We had a seat by the window overlooking the marina and we loved it. Had the fish feature at lunch today and the very generous portion of pickerel was perfectly cooked. The Sunday brunch is amazing -- quality food at a decent price (I have been 9 times). Make sure you call to reserve at least two days in advance though because they fill up fast every week. The regular dinner service, however, is a different story. I have been twice, and one was a hit while the other was a miss. In my first visit, I had a chicken supreme which was cooked to perfection with a delectable filling. On my second visit, I had a bland lamb dish and overcooked duck. My dishes were inundated with rookie mistakes ranging from a lack of seasoning on my lamb to bland flavour combinations. Averaged out (5 for the buffet and 2 for the dinner), I give AquaTerra 4 stars because they deserve the benefit of a doubt fora bad night. Service is typically good, but surprisingly better during its Sunday brunch service. Its dinner service is understaffed despite slow business. read more

You know you are in trouble when the best thing on the plate is the ketchup. Had the Aqua Terra Benedict. The salmon had turned. I do not like confrontation and spectacle in a restaurant, so I did not eat the rest of it. The eggs tasted metallic. The orange juice was thickly homogenized, as if was spun with way too much guar gum. The grapefruit juice was Sunny D? The staff, in spite of this, was very pleasant and seemed to be genuinely lovely young people. The back of house should support their fine efforts to present a friendly and inviting environment.
